You are Invited!

What you need to know

? The Pride Festival and Parade will take place on June 28, 2014

? The Festival is open from 1 to 7 p.m.

? The Parade begins promptly at 8:15 p.m.

With more than 200 contingents and exhibitors, multiple stages, and attendance of more than 65,000 people, the Festival has something for everyone. With exhibits like the Houston Dynamo Family Fun Zone, the Walgreens Health & Wellness Pavilion, the Houston LGBT History Exhibit and a whole cast of music performers including our Pride Superstar contestants, past and present. Admission is free, but donations for support can be given at the information booths at either entrance to the Festival.

Most exhibitors and food vendors only accept cash, and ATMs are available on-site until 7 p.m. or at local businesses.

About the Parade
The Parade, held along Westheimer Rd. between Dunlavy and Montrose Blvd, features more than 100 organizations and businesses supporting and celebrating the Houston LGBT community. The Parade draws more than 400000 people in total, making it the second largest parade in Houston. The Parade pre-show beginning at 7:30 p.m. will be at 7:30 p.m. on Westheimer/Waugh.
Grandstand seating is available in our Friends of Pride VIP Area (seating, private restrooms, complimentary food, cocktails and water are available), and general bleacher seats (non-alcoholic beverages and water are available for sale, and private restrooms) are available as well.

OFFICIAL After Party
The spirit of pride doesn?t end after the Parade. You can continue to party the night away at the only OFFICIAL After Party at South Beach Night Club. Take a journey to the coolest place on earth. Equipped with the latest gear we?re sure you won?t visit another club that has the same features we do. Their State-of-the-Art EAW Avalon Series Sound System was designed especially for their space and has the power to keep you grooving all night long. The Full Color Water Cooled Matrix Laser Light Show is not only dazzling, its also the only one of it?s kind in the Southwest. It provides a vast array of stunning visuals like nothing you?ve ever witnessed before. Dance floors get hot. That?s just the way it goes, but our Liquid Ice Jets deliver the relief you need to keep grooving. They have the power to drop the temperature of the club 20 degrees in the matter of seconds. South Beach is the only night club to Sponsor Pride Houston and Houston Pride Week.

Be Courteous
All areas of the Festival and Parade are smoke-free, and no outside beverages or alcohol may be brought into the festival, VIP area or general bleachers. Be sure to stay hydrated.
In the interest of general safety, please refrain from bringing in the following into the Festival or Parade:
? Alcohol (open container laws and city ordinances still apply)
? Inline Skates
? Laser pointers
? Radios
? Skateboards/Scooters
? Fireworks
? Weapons/Firearms
? Pets or animals (we love animals, but for their safety, leave them at home)

Sick!!!! When's the Houston's 2014 STRAIGHT Pride Celebration??? I'll skip and take the kids to Chick-fil-a instead!!!

JAMS --- 11 years ago -

Oh, look, The Butthurt has arrived!

I haven't been to a Pride Parade in YEARS!!!
Went to one in New Orleans and San Diego!!
What an absolutely wonderful time!

waterfall --- 11 years ago -

Start the timer. How long will it be before this one is locked?

Relative Views --- 11 years ago -

At first I thought kwmomx2 was joking... Now I'm not sure. :(

But I'm so bummed I can't go!! I'm sure it'll be very successful. Have some fun for me. :)

SoupIsGoodFood --- 11 years ago -

Is "butthurt" a proper term for this thread?

kwmomx2 --- 11 years ago -

Lol @ souperman!

Ender --- 11 years ago -

Is "butthurt" a proper term for this thread?

HAHAHA

Ender --- 11 years ago -

But I'm so bummed

This one probably isn't kosher here either

Sweet Cherub --- 11 years ago -

Is "butthurt" a proper term for this thread?

This is THE FUNNIEST POST OF THE YEAR so far! lololol

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 11 years ago -

Look the bigots showed up. I'm sure there are parades for you people too. Just make sure your sheets are clean.

jacobson --- 11 years ago -

It's funny and ironic that you act exactly in the manner that you accuse others of doing.

Elsa --- 11 years ago -

I won't attend....but I wouldn't attend a Klan parade, A Quannel X related parade or even Cinco de Mayo because its just not my interest.

Thanksgiving Day, 4th of July, Veterans Day...we go to those.

Perfection --- 11 years ago -

way to separate yourselves.

Much better to have a neighborhood celebration for everyone and celebrate diversity not singling any group out.

But hey, that's just me, I am for inclusion of all not exclusion and segregation.

JAMS --- 11 years ago -

Anyone can attend, Perfection.
As a straight woman, I feel included, not excluded.

Perfection --- 11 years ago -

JAMS, I know anyone can attend, but it is a celebration of one group not everyone.

Events such as July 4th in Houston, the recent Free Press Summer Fest, International Fest - those are all inclusive and aren't designed for one group over others.

I am very much a proponent of seeing people as people that's all.

I'm just different that way.

Oregonian --- 11 years ago -

Isn't there a simple solution?

If you don't like it...just don't go.

I don't go to MLK parades either, do you?

Mayberry --- 11 years ago -

Perfection, I in no way mean this to be derogatory, are you a lesbian?

Oregonian --- 11 years ago -

those are all inclusive and aren't designed for one group over others.

I can think of alot of other "groups" who are not all out inclusive. Your statement is not true but designed to create controversy.

Yes but that doesn't define me.

I am a woman, a mother, a Christian, an employee (a few times), a neighbor, a community supporter, a consumer and yes, I also happen to be gay.

But being gay isn't WHO I am. I am much more than that.

I don't want to be limited by it. It is simply a part of who I am and honestly, it is a very SMALL part.

Mayberry --- 11 years ago -

The reason I asked is I thought I remembered you posting about your partner. Also, I completely agree with your point and think it is refreshing - people need to get past all the labels and just be humans.

Commoner Sense --- 11 years ago -

When's the Houston's 2014 STRAIGHT Pride Celebration???

As soon as you organize it. This is a group of people, not a government entity. If you want to go and celebrate your straightness, by all means organize a parade. Maybe you can get a bunch of guys to dress like Jesus and have them haul crosses through the Chick Fil A drive through.

JAMS --- 11 years ago -

Again, NOONE is excluded.

Don't want to go? Don't.

Gigolo Bloodline --- 11 years ago -

Sure bet that Soup R TOSSED salad hit this thread hard and fast.

Butterbean --- 11 years ago -

As soon as you organize it. This is a group of people, not a government entity.

YYYYYEEEESSSS. Anyone can plan, schedule, and perform a parade. How about right here in Kingwood.

Don't think I'll make the LBGT parade in downtown. If it were here, I probably would. I don't remember that organization excluding anyone.

Peeking Boo --- 11 years ago -

I love attending Pride parades! I haven't been to any since moving to Houston but eventually I'll make it again.

I've helped several friends with floats in years past.

Celebrations like this bring out the best in people... until the jackhats decide to jump in.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 11 years ago -

Good to see the dog whistle still works.

Gigolo Bloodline --- 11 years ago -

I wish you didn't bore me so with your gay fascination or I could spend more time laughing at you.

Oregonian --- 11 years ago -

Perfection: Well said and I couldn't agree more. Thanks

jtcitrus --- 11 years ago -

I don't go to any of it. Parades always suck.

I'm pretty sure this one will too. [snicker snicker]

SoupIsGoodFood --- 11 years ago -

I wish you didn't bore me so with your gay fascination or I could spend more time laughing at you.

We all know YOU'RE the one with the fascination.

Gigolo Bloodline --- 11 years ago -

We all know YOU'RE the one with the fascination.

You and Lynchsuck lead the salad ache on every gay thread. Close the closet door.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 11 years ago -

Close the closet door.

Sorry. Didn't know you were still in there.

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 11 years ago -

The guy on the left is out if sync...

I had to borrow Eric's (the guy on the right) spare leotard. It didn't fit very well and kept distracting me throughout the routine...
