Hello, my name is Amber and I need YOUR help!

I go to Christ Gospel Church of Houston and we're having a Youth Convention in Jeffersonville, Indiana this year. We leave July 22nd... Unfortunately, I missed out on fundraising and in order for me to go, I must come up with $500, that's $250 there and back.

So what I'm offering to you is that, I will help clean houses, yards, paint, pick up trash, etc... Anything that I can possibly help you with for a little cash to help send me there.

I'm also selling World's Finest Chocolate. They are Continental roasted California Almonds covered in Rich Milk Chocolate. They are $2 a box.

I have a niece just like you. She had plenty of opportunities to raise money, but had better things to do. Maybe you should miss out on this trip. You will appreciate the next one. 

Kinda harsh Sheddy...kids make mistakes. We don't know all the details. Even if she is a flaky girl, she is making an effort to pay her own way. 

Yes, it does sound harsh. One sister in law is letting her child go on the trip. After begging her for months to get busy raising money, she finally started writing letters for donations. My other sister in law told her son to do the fund raisers for his trip and he didn't do a single one. She told him he won't be going. In my opinion, they should both be sitting at home. They both had the opportunity to make more than enough money, both chose not to do the work.

I can appreciate that. But you did have an opportunity to participate in the fundraising and for whatever reason you didn't. Maybe try selling your candy bars at a store front or something.

OP, the rant I am about to go off on is not about you and is slightly off topic, but it does speak to why most people are not going to be too willing to hire you off of this forum no matter how sincere you might sound.

People here are legitimately leery of letting someone on a community forum with a "story" into their homes to do any kind of work, for good reason. Lessons learned and all of that.

In fact, I found out that the little spinoff underground from KU has welcomed the resident thief to post among them. Personally I find that despicable, no matter how desperate they might be for posters.

Anyone that used a forum like this, made up of fellow community members, as their means of earning trust and sympathy as their front to rob people should be banned from any forum that they knowingly try to participate in.

To encourage or allow that kind of person onto your forum speaks volumes and is a slap in the face to the innocent, well meaning people that were hurt and deceived. It truly makes me sick that it would even be a consideration, and no way would I ever participate anywhere that allows that kind of criminal back to post among the very people she lied to and cheated and victimized.

If someone asked me to help them & felt uncomfortable with me in their presence, then I would kindly leave. Cheap yard work, cheap car wash. I could walk pets, anything. If you're worried about thieves, then you wouldn't ask me to come work for you. I'm asking for work for an event to build my relationship with God, not lying to buy beer or weed and supply to younger kids like people my age do. I'm 20. I definitely make mistakes, I didn't grow up with a lot of money or parents who could send me to college. I don't manipulate people by saying "thank you & God bless." I have better things to do with my time, like babysitting my niece while my sister works & helping my mother In law while she helps her disabled husband. I didn't post on here to rob you of your things, nobody ever said I had to be left alone in your house. Like I said before, I'm asking to help you do work in your home, outside of your home, help paint a room, help you plant a garden, I'll even mow your grass, for cheaper than your monthly yard crew. I even clean rent houses for a local realtor , so if you needed verification you could verify me and my hard work yourself. I have no further reason to explain myself. Are you selling the chocolate bars? I love those things, it reminds me of my childhood! 

Yes I am still selling them, I have like 15 left. If you're interested I can meet you somewhere and you can buy some if you'd like. They're decent sized & so delicious.

Well, it sounds like the candy bar sales might be the way to go. Maybe you could arrange to meet some of the people on here at a public place. Could you could post some times and dates and where you will be and those interested could go there?

I don't doubt your story at all, but I also agree that most people will be hesitant about letting a stranger into their home for odd jobs.

I have totally had to stop eating chocolate. I love it, but my family has an history of diabetes and I can't stop with just a little piece, I will eat the whole bar, lol.
