Received a notice included in our water bill that increased our Impervious area 755 Sqft. Guess what?? We have done nothing to validate the $19.00 increase. Asking everyone to READ the enclosed forms and PROTEST the INCREASE!!

SueRDH --- 10 years ago -

I dug mine out of the garbage to protest.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

If I get one, you'll hear me screaming all over Kingwood-

OMG- I just pulled out my bill, and guess what? Mine was reduced1000 feet!!!' My bill is actually lowered!!! I thought it was unusually high compared to everyone else's-

mutton --- 10 years ago -

1000 feet?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Yes! My total water bill has been higher than my electric bill! ( which is higher than anyone I know)

mutton --- 10 years ago -

That's bigger than some apts, lol...and half of some houses...wow.

snowprincess --- 10 years ago -

I always hate added costs

BUT..............

something has to be done to encourage conservation of water and less concrete to impact drainage. Would you rather our city run out of water?

We will see more of this in our lifetime as we continue to overpopulate the earth and use through resources faster than ever before.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

I've had water bills close to $300.00-

mutton --- 10 years ago -

I remember when was mud district and a 40 dollar water bill was cos left sprinkler on overnight a few times, lol...

If you analyzed the notice you'd see they clearly are not raising the fees. They are correcting the impervious surface area.

Look at the attached notice and you'll see two aerial views in color with the orange being the previous impervious surface and the fuchsia being the new. They have improved methods with detecting impervious surface and have utilized them. Thus the bill changes.

I don't know what their change delta threshold is but they are also sending out decreases if need be.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

I didn't get any attached notice- just a mention that my bill was reduced by that amount-

witchywoman --- 10 years ago -

Really? There should be three pages. One has the diagrams I posted about. Another is the page you use to protest and the top page is the one that explains the change and gives you your old and new fee amount.

Slider152 --- 10 years ago -

Not everyone had an increase, I was surprised to find that mine actually went down by $4.70 annually.

Nurse3 --- 10 years ago -

Mine went from $88 to $120.

Annie's Mom --- 10 years ago -

Mine went down also.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Do you get a rebate for all the wrong ones?

iwaveatcows --- 10 years ago -

take pictures of the areas they claim have changed. A lot of this can be proved. If you have a brick patio that isn't "sealed" between the bricks, take a picture and then lift up some bricks to show the ground underneath, etc. Don't just sit back, especially if you have not altered in any way your property from the first picture. They either have a new type of camera or are crafty with PS!
