Identity Crisis --- 10 years ago -

Can I have his nails clipped short enough that he doesn't tipy tap all the time? What do you guys do with your dog's nails?

whatchamacallit --- 10 years ago -

My dog drives us crazy with that noise...Can't get his nails short enough that they do not click, they would bleed and hurt. He also slips pretty easily on our floor and has a hard time getting up.
Still I would rather have that than carpet and a dog, Yuck!

We just moved into a new house and despite the brand new carpet throughout, I have to pull it all up because of our dogs.
We want to put down ceramic tile that looks like wood.
The carpet is a light tan color and I have spent a week in panic mode every time the dogs come inside - it takes me 5-10 min to wipe their feet and ensure they aren't tracking anything inside.
The older dog puked upstairs today.

I agree - dogs and carpet - GROSS.

The clicking noise doesn't bother me, but have you tried the plastic caps? I don't know if that would silent it any though.

Identity Crisis --- 10 years ago -

I haven't thought about plastic caps. I don't want to hurt him..so I won't clip them too short. I guess I just have to get used to it.
I do agree carpets and pets are gross. I like being able to sweep up the mess and hair everyday.

What about little booties? They sell them at Petsmart.

FabFive --- 10 years ago -

We have not a stitch of carpet in our house. Even when we didn't have dogs I hated carpet. Gross.

Whatcha that is very hard on your dogs joints if they are having a hard time getting up. You need to be careful.

The plastic caps don't stay on and make you want to scream.

I have tried giving him beds and rugs to lay on but he won't have anything to do with them, even though he has less trouble getting up when on them!

What breed of dog? Some are prone to bad hips and elbows. Some patellas. You really gotta watch it.

BoxerMama --- 10 years ago -

We had the wood look ceramic tile put down and love it.

Australian Shepherd 8 yrs old, he never has any issues walking or jumping but just getting up when laying on the wood floor.

Have dogs and pup on wood. No issues, never hear except when is playtime...

I've seen a lot of that tile that looks like wood. I love it with a capital L! It's beautiful and hardy and well, I'd do a entire house in it. 😛

FabFive --- 10 years ago -

Whatcha those are fun. Some have hip issues. Lots of energy.

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

We took the Husky on vacation to a condo that had all wood. He couldn't walk on the wood but he would slide to the door. I am ready to redo carpets and I think I'll do tile because he doesn't have a problme with tile.
