POLL: Which would you rather have/be?

More and more homes are becoming multigenerational and it seems with the local economy that may happen here too. So which way works for you? Which would you prefer?

KU Commune!! Lol

We could go to CO and just be happy hippies too! Haaa

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

None of the above. Live within your means.

Not KU --- 10 years ago -

All of the above are good choices. No one wants to be alone. Right?

^^^^That has a lot of appeal to it^^^^^

for a lot of people, that means moving in with family.

We intentionally purchased a 6 bedroom knowing that there is a very real possibility that my dad, who is 72, might eventually need care.
Our house is set up so that we can convert the game room above the garage into a full apartment.
We will just have to install one of those stair lifts lol

My mother fell a few years ago and she had to wait for my dad to come home to help her. I told her they have 5 years to sell the beach house and move to the inlaw suite we will build for her or she can get a small house near us.

Not if you move upstairs and give ol dad the master @ floor level. The wife and I did that for her mom.

I think it is probably a good idea to assume that your parents may move in with you at some point, and to prepare for that. There is no way to know what their condition will be as they age. We're also looking at whether our current house would be ideal for that possibility.

But that's probably not what you meant, exactly. It's not a money thing, just an aging thing. Sometimes, they need a little more help.

I wouldn't buy a house based on what may happen, unless it doesn't make you house poor-

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Unfortunately, it may come a little sooner than we were expecting Tat. :( We're waiting on more tests, but we've had a scary turn of things lately.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

I'm so sorry to hear that-

Bor King of Asgard --- 10 years ago -

It depends, who is willing to change my adult diapers?

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

Def mod material... yes!

I love my dad. A lot. Purchasing a home for what may happen as he ages was a good decision. It was the right decision.

With five children, there is a strong possibility we will have several grandchildren, and living space is vital.

Our home works now, and it'll work later.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

With 5 kids, it makes more sense-

roustabout --- 10 years ago -

This is an interesting poll. Are there really that many golden girls arrangements in Kingwood?

8Dwarves --- 10 years ago -

There are lots of different family combos shaping up Kingwood, and lots of group living among retires who took big hits in their savings in 2008 and were too old to really go out and find new careers like lots of boomers did.
