idontplaynice --- 10 years ago -

I just bought a jar from the Vitamin Shoppe. I'm hoping to use it as a detoxifier. 1 teaspoon a day in a glass of water. Anyone else use it?

Identity Crisis --- 10 years ago -

I have used it for years with great success. I take a spoonful straight, then wash it down with a large glass of water. It has a mild flavor...very plain.

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

Possible side effects:

1). sh!t bricks.

Butterbean --- 10 years ago -

Now there's a visual.

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

can I wash it down with Chardonnay?

mutton --- 10 years ago -

All goes with a nice wine...

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

I went to Zio's for lunch today. My friends ordered Muscato and I had Chardonnay. They paid $9 a glass. My wine was 4.50 a glass. I was astounded. I asked the waiter how they got away charging so much for a crappy wine?? lol

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Hope you already had your food, lol.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

It's used to clarify wine and mead

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

what is mead?

aragon --- 10 years ago -

It's used to clarify wine and mead?

I didn't know that.

I've wanted to make mead for many years.

aragon --- 10 years ago -

what is mead??

Honey wine, modern version.

Old viking version was more like a frothy honey based beer.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Drink

fisher got her, lol.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

Here's why you shouldn't eat bentonite clay

mutton --- 10 years ago -

thanks Jacobson!

idontplaynice --- 10 years ago -

I already read that before Jacobson posted it.

I know I said "eat" in my title but I was only being humorous. I just meant 1 teaspoon in a glass of water a day, not shoveling it down.

I think that article, by focusing on a Hollywood celebrity who is taking Bentonite a little too extreme, is missing the point. It can be beneficial in moderation.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

It can be beneficial in moderation.

There are heavy metals in soil that the body can't get rid of, therefore they accumulate and at some point can reach toxic levels.

Ellen Ripley --- 10 years ago -

I use it for my face.

Where can you cite that Bentonite has heavy metals? "Soil" is a very broad term.

All soils have heavy metals. Concentrations vary. Bentonite clay is a kind of soil.

Yep.

If you're buying your "Bentonite Clay" at Vitamine Shopp, you might want to spend the money to get it tested to see 1) does it have heavy metals and 2) is it actually all or even mostly bentonite.

I'd bet it fails number 2, but it probably doesn't have meaningful amounts of heavy metals.

Just use it for lining your pond eat some mixed-greens salad and move on.

Fresh Meat --- 10 years ago -

I currently have a jar from this brand and have only used it to make a homemade toothpaste.
