lets hear it from residents themselves! what do residents think about a company that employs only high school students to do yard work and other things around the house? This would give the students great education on what goes into owning a home and it would also give them a little bit of cash to run around with. This service would also be at least a quarter of the cost of a private company.
91BW you're a real motivational sounding person. So because I'm in high school makes me a wanna-be gangster?
would you rather your kids ask you for $10 a day to go get food or go see a movie or rent a video game? or how about when they want that new michael kors bag or Xbox One? are you going to buy it for them so they don't b*tch at you? or would you rather your child save up some of their hard earner money and go get it theirselves so they learn the value of a dollar and hard work?
Day I Tried To Live... we aren't looking to mow lawns. the majority of kingwood already has a service. I am talking about odd jobs around the house such as. +gutter cleaning and roof cleaning (several hundred dollars from a company)-- we charge $100 for you're average home +christmas light decorating or removal (I've seen quotes in the thousands)-- we will charge around $150-$300 depending on size of home and how intricate of job +power washing +moving furniture +pool cleaning +large tree limb removal these are some of the things we are looking to do
I don't have a problem employing students. With that being said, the type of job would be limited...no way would I have a student on my roof or on a ladder trimming trees. There is a huge liability exposure and I'm quite sure that charging a fraction of what other companies would charge, it's doubtful that you can provide insurance. I'm not interested in being sued by someone getting hurt on my property.
Yes, the majority of the stuff you listed are not something I would want an unexperienced person doing around my house regardless of their age. Teenagers are risk and shortcut takers, I'd rather pay more and have an experienced adult.
I would double check on your insurance...I can tell you for certain that it won't cover you if you fall off of a roof....or out of a tree. Those are specific risks that are charged a hefty premium for, especially if you are being paid for that job.
I would love to eventually have a student help mow my yard, using my mower and equipment. The reason I don't use a lawn crew is because lawn disease can be spread from lawn to lawn using the same mower. I will eventually need help with my yard chores and some heavy lifting etc.. I remember being a poor student. I would love to help students out with some spending money and learning that hard work pays off. But I agree, I wouldn't hire a young student to do dangerous work done normally by licensed adults. It would also be nice to have a place to go to where students are available. I don't know any students and I wouldn't know where to find one willing to work.
I like the idea. Just check what the laws are pertaining to lawsuits & employees getting hurt on the roof or wherever then have it in writing for people to see, sadly we are a very litigious area, but we shouldn't let that get in the way of productivity.
Well no hirimg has happened or will happen until we have some steady work if we are lucky and I will definitely not be hiring anyone who is underage or I feel can't handle some strenuous physical activity. It is sad that we do live in such an uptite and nervous area. Yes, having proof of insurance and all is a great recommendation. Thank you!
