People obsessed with their health and think something is wrong with them.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 9 years ago -

Yes and they made me sick...

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

A real hypochondriac isnt really sick normally, they imagine sruff all the time. And there ARE people who really are sick and may have multiple issues, not the same thing.

Dorothy Parker --- 9 years ago -

I don't know you, IDPN, but I would guess you're probably a hypochondriac based on the posts you make here on KU.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

LOL

idontplaynice --- 9 years ago -

No I had real clinically proven conditions.

3rd generation hippie --- 9 years ago -

Do you know any hypochondriacs?

Only you.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Wow. Imagine if a non hypocondriac worries that they have hypocondria. Are they a hypocondriac, or not? Interesting paradox.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

I have another one- fuzzy wuzzy was a bear, fuzzy wuzzy had no hair. fuzzy wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he.

Defcon1 --- 9 years ago -

One of my best friends lmao

He always thinks something crazy is wrong with him.

AMDG --- 9 years ago -

Can you be a hypochondriac if you continually believe you have munchausen syndrome ???

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

I think my Mom was one. She was always thinking she had something. She told my Dad she was unable to have children from some "condition" but, oops, here i be. LOL

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

So you were an accident. That explains a lot!

Kidding, kidding ;)

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

Yes and they made me sick...

roflmao!

Hypochondriacs have a mental disorder. My mil #1 was one. you could not walk into the same room with her and say you had a headache. It would cause her to have one also.

She had a "special doctor" who gave her any script she wanted. They were not always narcotics (she was not an addict)
A psychiatrist diagnosed her with hypochondria in about 1977.

One Christmas I gave her a medical dictionary to make it easier for her.

Ok that was just mean. Thats like asking the class clown to identify uranus.

mutton --- 9 years ago -

Or draw a pic of said uranus...

aragon --- 9 years ago -

I had a few people call me that.

Until they found out that I was right.

Rare heart issue I've had since I was born, but becoming worse. I have a few good years left I think, then it will be heart surgery time (which may or may not work).

So, yeah, not everyone that gets labeled a hypochondriac is one... many know when something is wrong with them... even when crappy docs can't find it.

The rarer it is, the more likely normal docs will miss it. So, the labels start.

I had to go to the Debakey Associates in the med center to finally get answers. I was probably better off not knowing.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

sometimes you know something's wrong, even though the doctors can't find it- half of what they say is guess work, anyway- rather than say they don't know, they put you on Prozac or something, and put it on you-sorry about your heart problem, maybe something will be discovered to fix it-

Emperor of Kingwood --- 9 years ago -

Aren't there things that just can't be fixed yet? Diabetes comes to mind.

so sorry to hear that. I hope its not as bad as that. You probably know more than the docs! go with your instincts about yourself. Stay hopeful, things can change both in your body and in medicine. Take good care of yourself.

Stalker

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

wow. no good deed goes unpunished.

woof40 --- 9 years ago -

I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for the word stalker to be typed in there. I'm using my phone and the auto correct changed my word that I was about to type. Then I thought I had click out of topic but apparently it typed stalker. Can a moderator delete the word please. It's too late for me to fix it.

Sorry again. I feel bad

Dorothy Parker --- 9 years ago -

Lmao! How does auto correct type "stalker" in a thread and then hit "add comment" afterwards?

Classic!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

LOL! You arent capable of feeling bad!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

woof, you can be a nasty little puck!(good thing that didn't auto correct!) LOL!

mutton --- 9 years ago -

So what word did you mean?

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

Puck...reminds me of a midsummer nights dream.

Laurabeth --- 9 years ago -

Yep, been called that before. Even my family doctor refused to refer me to a geneticist. I went on my own, and underwent testing and actually diagnosed after years with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Dysautonomia. : (

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Hi Laurabeth! How are ya? Dont be a stranger! :)

aragon --- 9 years ago -

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

Have they checked your Aortic root yet?

If there is an issue there, I have lots of information on that topic.
