I noticed today when I went to the NWH pool that the playground equipment has been disassembled. Does anyone know what the plan is for this play area? I thought the plan was to leave the old equipment in place and add new equipment in another area of the park. The old equipment needs to have the bridge repaired and two steps need to be recoated with that plastic stuff but other that those minor repairs it is great equipment. It sure would be a shame to get rid of this structure.

The Woodland Hills Trails Association has control over improvements to the trails and play areas in North and South Woodland Hills.

Keeping the old equipment and adding more seems like a great idea! There's so much room at that park that they can certainly accomodate more equipment. It reallly seems wasteful to get rid of the other equipment when it needs such a minimal amount of repair. Do you know what they are doing with the old equipment? Have they made arrangements to sell it to someone or has the contractor that is doing the teardown and replacement? That stuff was/is really expensive and not something that should be thrown or given away.

Are you sure? It's the HOA's who take care of the parks/playgrounds not the trail associations.

Yes, I am sure. The Woodland Hills Trails Association has control over the play equipment. North Woodland Hills HOA has control over everything inside the pool area but not the park.

I just found out that the equipment was not to be removed till the two associations got together and agreed how to proceed. The Woodland Hills Trails Association decided to move forward without North Woodland Hills HOA approval. The trails association is out of line. They must get 3 bids and get the approval of NWH HOA before moving forward on a project like this. The trails association did not get either. It is just insane to get one bid on a project involving 75-85 thousand dollars. I wonder who on the trails association is getting a big fat kickback.

Yes, The NWH HOA wants to keep the old equipment and add the new equipment in another part of the park. It is insane to get rid of play equipment that is still good and has many more years of life. I have to think the installer will take the old equipment and sell it to a new customer.

I have also seen the plans for the new equipment and it looks small and cheap. It has fabric covers instead of hard roofs. The fabric will get bad in no time.

I am trying to add a picture of the equipment the Trails Association wants to stick North Woodland Hills with.

Each association is independent of the other.

On top of that, you just reiterated it yourself with this:
Yes, I am sure. The Woodland Hills Trails Association has control over the play equipment. North Woodland Hills HOA has control over everything inside the pool area but not the park.

Thus, you're talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I agree that it's insane but board members can be lazy. Do your documents state that three bids are required and, if so, show up at a board meeting with docs in hand, point it out, and ask for an explanation.

While you're at it, that might be a good time to volunteer on the board.

The NWH HOA wants to keep the old equipment and add the new equipment in another part of the park.

But, again, you said this:
Yes, I am sure. The Woodland Hills Trails Association has control over the play equipment. North Woodland Hills HOA has control over everything inside the pool area but not the park.

So the NWH HOA has no say in the matter.

You're going to find that if you don't like the way things are being run your only option is to put your time where your mouth is. Get on the board and change things.

It just seems so sad. and illogical, that on issues that affect many residents - and especially children, that only 3 KUers have any input or opinion.

Come on KU - fight for something besides election politics or bathroom issues...jmho

Fancy-thanks for bringing this situation to the attention of KU...Zap

So the NWH HOA has no say in the matter.

They are supposed to be consulted on any changes made to the park. According to the bylaws, the Woodland Hills Trails Association has to confer with NWH HOA and 3 bids must be offered. They are independent entities but when it come to changes to the appearance of the neighborhood they have to work together. It's in the bylaws.
