Which would u pick and why?

tinman --- 11 years ago -

Wow....it has been many, many years since I've had a first date.

I guess some place that is quiet would be my first choice.

Someplace that has a good wine list?

Is atmosphere important for a first date?

I know that when Mrs. Tinman and I have a date night, the restaurant is really important to us. We'll travel a ways to get to one we heard was good.

We had a lunch date a couple of weeks ago and went to Bacliffe to eat.

Gilhooleys....I would not recommend it for a first date night...but...talk about good food and atmosphere.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

Chez Nous!!!! of course,it depends on the girl! some girls might find it pretentious- in that case, Tinman picked a fun place!

*Annie* --- 11 years ago -

Chimichurri's

Tejas mom --- 11 years ago -

The wine bar.

sunshine1881 --- 11 years ago -

The Tasting Room

NitANee --- 11 years ago -

Showboat Drive-in in Hockley

Now it's not exactly "local", but definitely worth the drive. You can get burgers, hotdogs, nachos, or your typical movie food.

Plus, enjoy a double feature movie for $6 each.... AND you can talk all you want, since you're in your own car/truck/van/suv.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

Chimichurri's is another great choice! love the food!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

Snake Plissken --- 11 years ago -

Ditto on the Tasting Room.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

I don't see that for a first date- more like when you go out with the girls!!!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

Where you go is secondary to who you're with. Go for quiet and cozy.

Texashley --- 11 years ago -

My Hubby took me to Italianos for our first date many years ago :) Good food, quiet place.

That sounds like a great idea for even those of us that just would like a fun evening out with someone special! Where is Hockley? (I guess I could Google that!)

NitANee --- 11 years ago -

Where is Hockley

to get to the Showboat Drive-in from Kingwood, you would take Beltway 8 west to 249 north. In Tomball, turn left on FM2920 and head west for a few miles.

It's ABSOLUTELY worth the drive.

How old are the people dating?
Younger folks I would recommend Chuy's. It's not expensive, there are drinks, a lot of visual stimulation (that can be talked about in moments when there is a lull in the conversation), enough ambient noise to eliminate potential for prolonged awkward silence.

Older/professional folks I like King's Harbor for a location. Tasting Room, Raffa's, Chimichurri's.

It really depends on the type of people who are out on the date, maybe Tin Roof when a band is playing would be perfect for that couple?

Bornanraisedkw --- 11 years ago -

Well, kings harbor parking was a nightmare and we were going to be at the movies later so we went to El Rachero.

Where the food went down well, but didn't feel so good coming up. :( I threw up what I ate twice during the movie and when I got home.

I am so sad :( I hope our first date wasn't completly ruined. I really really enjoyed his company until half way through the movie :(

If I didn't have bad luck tonight. But good luck in meeting a nice man.

:)

Next time , we are going to Kings Harbor. Never el ranchero again in my life.

CrazyDiamond --- 11 years ago -

Amadeus or Raffa's for a conversational place. Pappasito's/Pappa's Seafood if you like a loud/lively place. All places deliver on the goods as far as food and service is concerned. The rest is up to you...

That said, the best places are inside the Loop. You must drive for the really good places.

Set the scene you feel comfortable in. Allow yourself to be calm, confident, and in control of the situation. Find a place that has what you like, and make a reservation. Research the food and the place is like in advance. Know what she/he likes.

"Hey, we are going here". "You'll love it". That's it.

CrazyDiamond --- 11 years ago -

A date isn't about eating. It is about eating together. Do you wanna stuff a couple of cheap tacos down your date's throat before whatever you think is coming next?

It is about the whole night.

Girls love guys that take control, and make them feel safe, yet excited at new things, foods, places.

Guys, well... Moving on. Guys could really benefit from a great woman on all levels. We need them. They want us to need them. It is a great balance.

txlady67 --- 11 years ago -

My husband a long time ago took me to pappoitios and a movie. Afterwards we talked for several hours. We have been together ever since then. That was 20 plus years ago.

Aah Grasshoppa --- 11 years ago -

Las Palomas would be good. It's typically quiet and the food is good. Right next door to Spec's so you can find a nice bottle of wine to take home. Good luck on the second date!

Dorothy Parker --- 11 years ago -

Throwing up on your first date isn't a good sign...

Especially if you left twice during the movie.

I wonder what he was thinking?

Texashley --- 11 years ago -

Food poisoning? Although it usually takes about 4 hours to set in or a few days to take effect ..

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

I tried to tell y'all not to eat there, LOL

On a more serious note, sorry you got sick and it sounds like you all still had a nice time....it's a good sign if he'll hold your hair back, even in spirit. :)

MissPris --- 11 years ago -

Report it if you think it's food poisoning. I've been sick like that too after eating there (not recently) and haven't ever been back.

Better luck on the next date, hope you are feeling better.

*Annie* --- 11 years ago -

Could the tummy trouble be nerves? Are you feeling better now?

Porter Wagoner (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

The breakfast buffet at Hampton Inn.

waterfall --- 11 years ago -

Well that will be a memorable first date. When is the next one?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 11 years ago -

Starbucks. Why invest too much until you determine if she's the one.

sunshine1881 --- 11 years ago -

There's no way I would do a drive in on the first date. I don't get into the same vehicle with a guy on the first date, let alone be stuck in one with him for two hours. I like an easy exit if he's a creep ;)

I agree. Its just safer for both parties.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

How do you go anywhere? There wouldn't even BE a first date if I didn't feel comfortable getting in the car and going somewhere local. You can always carry/conceal. LOL

Emperor of Kingwood --- 11 years ago -

I guess adult dating is different. Even as a male, I think the first date would (at least for me) be on neutral territory, public place, during daylight hours and each one providing their own transportation. Theres a lot of women out there on psychoactive drugs.

That's always a good idea. I guess it just depends on whether or not you know this person, as in friends before, etc, or they are a total newbie in your life or a person from a dating site etc.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 11 years ago -

Yeah, good point. If, (speaking as a man), your are invited to a womans domicile for dinner you have to excuse yourself to the bathroom. Once there, you must inspect her medivine cabinet for the presence of antidepressants, antipsychotics, moos stabilizers, etc. If found, run away quickly.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

What should women look for? Porn? Signs of gambling addictions, or bills that have a red stamp that says PAST DUE on them??

Half the country is on something, Bob, including scads of men and children.lol

Yes, if I were a woman ( and I might be a woman in a mans body), I would certainly look for all those things and run away if I found them. In addition, she should look for signs of any substance abuse or bad relationship with his kids.

I know, and I am not so sure thats a good thing.

You can't do that. Everyone should be taken on an individual basis, especially if you're dating them. Everyone over 40 has probably been married, has kids, some depression, some job instability and a lot of debt. LOL!

Well I guess I am too different from most to live in this world. I have never missed a paycheck in over 30 years. Im not depressed and I have very, very little debt.
