Does anyone know of a place around here where. I can buy fiber lash mascara? Do to Lupus (SLE) and the monthly infusions, my lashes and hair is thinning out. My hair not as bad as my lashes.

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

I believe you can find it over the counter almost anywhere but you might want to go someplace in the mall that might have samples like at the Macy counters.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

I hear Younique is a good one. It is sold by private sellers. Also try Latisse online. It is said to have worked for Chemo patients. Good luck. Our lashes are important to us ladies.

Blessed1991 --- 10 years ago -

Thanks girl's, I'm gonna have to get some real soon. I have to have lashes. Lol

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Blessed. Are you taking suppkements, like a pre natal vitamin and maybe collagen? It may not help but it certainly would not hurt. My friend sells younique. Her lashes look really nice.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

I second 867, Latisse is awesome for lashes. Mine look fake almost they are so long. Mine weren't short to begin with but Latisse just makes them better! You can also get Minoxidil OTC even at Walmart for hair loss and they have a generic that's much less expensive.

Blessed1991 --- 10 years ago -

Wow, thank you all so much for the information. I am very excited about trying all of these to see what works best. You all are awesome.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

as far as mascara, I try everything, and I'm liking L'Oreals telescopic length mascara- cheap, too- lots of good advice, from the above posts, too-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Wicked, biotin is a good one, too-

I just picked up Younique on Ebay for $13. Using my Ebay Bucks it cost me $6. It runs $30 by the private sellers. I've never used it, I will let you know. Also, you should use 2 mascaras, 3 if you want it waterproof. One that lengthens first, then one that volume-izes. Waterproof for hold.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Please do! I always love a new product with great results!

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Younique is tricky. I have watched YouTube about it. It can be clumpy if you do it wrong. But do it right and you get amazing results with their fibers. I work with a bunch of ladies. We always talk about our beauty secrets.

Mabel --- 10 years ago -

The younique comes in two tubes one is the glue ( so to speak ) and the other the fiber. Unless you plan to use it everyday I wouldn't bother. The glue dries out really fast.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

I think the trick with fibers is to get them to go the right direction, that is, vertacle. They go on in all different directions right from the tube so you have to brush them the length of your lashes using another clean brush. It takes time.

Tylers Journey --- 10 years ago -

My girlfriend uses baby powder and mascara in layers. You can youtube on how to do it.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Powder can be used to add volume. Whereas, fibers when properly applied, tend to add length.

AFWife --- 10 years ago -

My daughter & I have been using the Younique lashes for over 6 months now. Like them so much I signed up today :). I also really like the eyeshadows.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Thanks for the testimony, AFWife. I can't wait to try it! I have a new tube of Waterproof mascara ready as the base coat and to help hold the curl. My skimpy lashes will NOT get the best of me!

AFWife --- 10 years ago -

I don't even use an extra mascara...just the fiber lashes & gel. And I am a major eye blinker. I'm very happy with it, stays on well but comes off easily in the evening.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

AFWife. I have straight lashes, only the tiniest bit of natural curl. I need the use of an eyelash curler for my lashes to be seen. Water-based mascara will take the curl out of curled lashes. If I don't use a waterproof one as a base coat, I think Yonique will also take the curl out if as you say, it removes easily.

Blessed1991 --- 10 years ago -

I love all these post and will be going out tomorrow to look for a few of the products and will be ordering the fiber lash mascara. It's a scary thing losing lashes.

PokerFace --- 10 years ago -

Here is another interesting product:
lash tubes

I love this stuff! Adds length and volume, comes off much easier than waterproof mascara. When you brush it on your lashes, tiny tubes are formed around each lash.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Any recommendations for mascara for people with severe dry eye? Even waterproof brands end up all over my eyes due to irritation/blinking/eyes watering.

I would go without, but my lashes are blonde, and are invisible without it.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

That've them dyed! There's dyes made for eyelashes and brows-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Also, as 86 zmentioned, Latisse produces longer, thicker darker lashes- it takes a couple of months, but if works- buY it on line, it's half the price- and follow directions- DON'T put it on your bottom lashes-

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Thanks TD! Won't Latisse change my eye color though? I read something about it affecting the iris color.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

I've read that, too, but it's never happened to anyone I know- just make sure you don't put a ton on so that it gets in your eyes, and stay off the bottom lashes! You don't need much- I don't go all the way to the corners, either- and don't buy it with a prescription, because the cost will kill you! You can order it online, now-

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

What happens if you put it on the bottom lashes?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

IDK- they tell you not to, in the directions, and I just figured there's a good reason, like maybe discoloration-

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

If you put it on the bottom lashes you are using too much and wasting it . Latisse doesn't work any faster with more but you risk darkening of the skin using extra. I use 1 drop a day instead of 2 and got results after a month. ... Used that tube mascara. When i removed it, i thought my lashes were coming off. It freaked me out. Lol

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

I had a convo with my hair stylist as she lopped off 6-8" off my hair. We think it is a problem for women who naturally lose body hair volume like eye lashes, eye brows and head hair as we age, while being young enough to care about our looks. It's not about vanity, it's about caring how we look. When you lose eye brow volume it changes the expression on your face. then add medical issues, such as chemo and what Blessed is going through and loss of hair becomes even more of a challenge.

I have always had short sparse eye lashes and they have always been a challenge for me to achieve the look I want. I wore lash extensions in HS and College before they were called "Extensions". I have experimented with most of the mascara products and lash lengthening products out there, including Jan Marino's $$ lash product when it first came out. Losing lash volume as I age has only made my issues worse.

I wore extensions in a natural length for about 4 years. I removed them in December to try out some of the new things out there. Since Latisse is working for growth, I am excited about using Younique for length and volume. Watching the Youtube on this product gives me encouragement. It is fun to watch the expressions and squeals of surprise when they are pleased with the product.

PokerFace --- 10 years ago -

I've been experimenting with Latisse, and I get the same results when I use it every other night verses each night. Also, it's annoying to wear sunglasses because they grow so dang long!

PokerFace --- 10 years ago -

ye old double post

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Man, I guess I need to get some Latisse! Is it a prescription? Or do you just order it?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Order it on line, and ite half the price- I wouldn't get the generic, it's not as good- the bottle's tiny, but lasts for months.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

PokerFace, I agree- but better to wait until your lashes are full- then I can even skip 2 nights!

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

Is Latisse something you have to use forever?
