summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

Does anybody know of any fun things for a 13 year old girl to do thats close and doesn't take that long to get to? There is nothing fun in kinwood. We should build a little boardwalk type thing.

planemom --- 3 years ago -

There is the pool to go to or you could find a VBS that needs volunteers. May be set up a dog walking business or babysitting business.

Bob Ross --- 3 years ago -

Set up a lemonade stand on the greenbelt.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

Good idea about VBS. I go to the pool already, it gets kind if boring ater a while though. I babysit too. Lemonade stands are boring though. Do you know of any VBS's that needs volunteers?

planemom --- 3 years ago -

The library may have teen events.

Bob Ross --- 3 years ago -

Lemonade stands are boring though. Jazz it up.

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

There is nothing fun in kinwood this always confuses me. exactly what did you expect there to be in a developed community for families? i mean, when i was 13, there was a lot les "to do" and i knew if i said i was bored and didn't have anything 'fun' to do, my mother would ensure that my time was occupied with pulling weeds, yardwork, helping her clean... i just don't get the idea that kids always have to have something to do.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

i just don't get the idea that kids always have to have something to do. well what do you want us to do?

planemom --- 3 years ago -

Same here txdaddy.

lindagail --- 3 years ago -

Go fishing at Rivergrove park....with friends and a picnic. How about bike riding the trails in a group and see how far you can go around KW. Volleyball at RMS Try out as many community pools that will let you in and find something good about each! Organize a softball or kickball team with kids from school and plan a tournament (facebook will help with this) Volunteer at the YMCA helping coach a younger age sports team. Visit the new library Need more ideas???? Hope you enjoy your summer!!!!

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

Thank you Lindagail. Will the YMCA let a 13-year-old help?

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

well what do you want us to do? assuming you are the 13 year old. offer to help your parents around the house. you'll be amazed at their appreciation. go outside and play read a book join a sports team join something the bottom line is that you should not have to be entertained your entire existence. trust me, there is plenty to do if you are not too lazy to figure it out yourself. you don't have to 'go' anywhere. the constant need to be stimulated has made teenagers so damn lazy. use your imagination sometimes.

lindagail --- 3 years ago -

well what do you want us to do? Come on guys...here is our chance to encourage a teen to do something productive or just plain fun. They are asking for advice. Any ideas???

lindagail --- 3 years ago -

Will the YMCA let a 13-year-old help? I did at that age but that was a few :) year ago. It would not hurt to give them a call or better go by and ask.

TexasOma --- 3 years ago -

volunteer at the library...they always need someone to shelve books.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

join a sports team I happen to be a blue tide swimmer.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

volunteer at the library Do I just have to go there and ask them if they need any volunteers?

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

I happen to be a blue tide swimmer. no clue what that means. i assume it's some kind of swim team thing. you could always use the summer to relax. you don't have to do something all the time. what about going to summer school to get ahead a little? volunteering would be good.

lindagail --- 3 years ago -

volunteer at the library...they always need someone to shelve books. Or maybe they will let your read to smaller children...Go visit them and talk with them.

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

Or maybe they will let your read to smaller children...Go visit them and talk with them. they have storytime every wednesday at the bookworm. normally one of the ladies reads to the kids, but they may like some help every now and then.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

Summer School???????? YEAH RIGHT!

Dr Aborto --- 3 years ago -

What ever happened to playing video games and watching MTV? Red Dead Redemption is good game that just came out and it's super long too.

TexasOma --- 3 years ago -

Do I just have to go there and ask them if they need any volunteers? Yes --- if you are near the library, you could ride your bike. Also you could check with nursing homes if there are any in your area. Older people love having young kids come read to them or let them tell you stories. They get so lonely there. Maybe the library would let you read to the little kids. Also, hospitals have volunteer positions. Google volunteer jobs for teens.....when you start looking to apply for colleges, all the volunteer stuff you do will go on the application. It will really help you.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

I am part of NCL so i need volunteer hours. And yes, Blue Tide is a year round swim league. I also am on a summer swim league.

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

Summer School???????? YEAH RIGHT! lol. fair enough. i always played outside and with friends during the summer. i also had about 10 yards in my neighborhood i mowed every week. imagine a world with no video games, no internet, no "on demand" anything and where parents really didn't let you sit around and watch tv much. you know what we did? we played outside with our friends.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

I play outside every day with my friends. Yesterday, I was outside all day

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

I play outside every day with my friends. Yesterday, I was outside all day good for you. take advantage of being 13. relax.

*Annie* --- 3 years ago -

Do you have any elderly on your block? If ok with your parents, offer to volunteer to do something for them. It could be a big task or a small one. I know my mom is so happy when the neighbor's kid takes out or brings in her trash can for her. It's a simple thing to do but much appreciated. I try to do it for my neighbors if I get home before nasty weather strikes. Who wants to bring in a trash can in typical Texas thunderstorms!?

Forever family x2 --- 3 years ago -

She does not sound like your typical bored teen. The ones that are happy doing nothing would not be asking for ideas. She wants to help others. Give this kid some credit for asking and not sitting around doing nothing or getting into trouble. I think the elderly idea is faboulous, they always love visitors, you could make some new friends and give them something to look forward to in return. Kudos for wanting to help.

if i said i was bored and didn't have anything 'fun' to do, my mother would ensure that my time was occupied with pulling weeds, yardwork, helping her clean... Haha your mom was a b!tch! If I got bored my mom would hand me $20 and send me to the mall. Or hook me up with one of her friends. Oh the memories.

*Annie* --- 3 years ago -

Oh, I have another idea - I remember seeing posts of cake decorating classes. Think you could get some of your friends interested in joining you? I have always envied what others can do with icing.

AIL --- 3 years ago -

Here's what I did during summer when I was 13: read a LOT of books, took long bike rides (with picnic lunch; stop for a break at a park & eat), wrote poetry, wrote in a journal, played the flute and babysat. You could work on reorganizing/ rearranging your bedroom. Or think of a hobby you'd like to improve and have fun with it- painting, playing an instrument, etc.

txdaddy --- 3 years ago -

Oh the memories. lol. this is the post you decided to make after a whole year? did it take you that long to think of something? if it did, this is what you came up with. so come on...who are you?

Niki --- 3 years ago -

If you have a ride you could go to Bella Beads in Atascocita and make some jewelry

crazymama87 --- 3 years ago -

Michael's (the craft store in Humble)has classes. If you have a ride there and the Libray has the new TEEN section with games and activities. When I was 13 I babysat ride bikes all over kingwood and went to the pool. We also hung out at the shopping center in the front of Kingwood but that was when it had a movie theater. AMC has movie camp $1.00 movies on Wednesdays. If you have a way to get there.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

I don't like crafts. And I don't like reading.

Bob Ross --- 3 years ago -

You could always take up smoking.

summer2010! --- 3 years ago -

Shut up. Why the hell would I do that?
