Does anyone know if there are any plans of some kind of new Grocery Store in the Northpark/59/Porter area. We live in Oakhurst and we really need something up this direction.

Can I just say that I bought ham hocks and avacados at Randalls the other day and both were rotten. I want a refund, stuff is too expensive now a days!

Loved the Randalls store on the 59 feeder by Luby's. Years ago when I was dropping off stuff for the Katrina people ( the old Randall's was used for staging of the stuff by the Alspaugh people) I met the shopping center owner. Told him it would be so nice to have a grocery store there. He didn't want one there. Always felt that it would be great to stop on the way home from work there while the traffic on Kingwood and North Park died down. Even emailed Fiesta the idea. No Such luck. 

There is the Walmart market on Northpark. 

I do more and more of my grocery shopping at Phoenica's on the west side of town. It is an international market and the prices are much less than grocery stores. They are building a second one downtown which should open this spring. Lots of very interesting foods. Check it out at http://phoeniciafoods.com/index.html

There olive bar is at least 4 times larger than HEB and $3 less a lb. They make fresh pitas by the thousand every day and you can buy them still warm as they come off the conveyor belt. You can have a full meal while you shop - ie braised lamb shanks with 3 sides and a pita. The bakery is unbelievable. The spices are very cheap - huge bottles at $2 - $3 each.

We should start a carpool down there. The Woodlands Bus brings people down there all the time.

Yep, they don't argue with you, so few people do it. Sometimes you have to eat some first to find out it sucks. :)

I am so happy they are actually going to do something with that store! Its been vacant for so many years now. I miss shopping at that Randalls.

yep the big store thats been vacant for about 10+ years now. it was fairly new when they decided to move to kingwood dr instead.

KW needs a Whole Foods, AND a Kolache Factory. I will force them to KW when I am Mayor, if I'm not too busy eating what this Mayor luvs most!
