Regarding the KHS senior that recently passed away, were there no grief counselors brought into the school?

Winning --- 12 years ago -

You sure are one bitter parent. Maybe you should redirect that negative energy into something positive for the kids.

KHSDad125 --- 12 years ago -

I am simply asking a question.

patchycat --- 12 years ago -

I don't think so KDad, but I will ask.

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

Is there anything about KHS that you don't complain about?

I hope your kid graduates this year so you'll shut up.

waterfall --- 12 years ago -

I hope your kid graduates this year so you'll shut up.

LOL!

Maybe you should transfer them to KPHS.

KHSDad125 --- 12 years ago -

Oh, so I have to be quiet because you don't like it? You don't have to read my posts Dorothy. Move on...

patchycat --- 12 years ago -

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

You're right, I don't have to read them. But, I can't hide your thread topics and every thread you start is some complaint against KHS.

You have to be a disgruntled former employee. A regular parent wouldn't fixate on the school the way you do. It's creepy. Get a hobby.

KHSDad125 --- 12 years ago -

Yes, I taught Specialty Topics in a World Setting for several years. Then I got a job blogging. If you see a thread that I start, just skip it. Your opinion is yours...so keep it to yourself.

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

Aren't your threads, YOUR OPINONS? Why don't you follow your own advice and keep them to yourself?

Aah Grasshoppa --- 12 years ago -

My understanding is that some were made available if they were needed.

Lets Be Fair --- 12 years ago -

Dorothy, the OP just asked a question. Do you know if they brought in grief counselors?

Don't be so upset. Must have been a rough day at work. Just go to bed.

KHSDad125 --- 12 years ago -

My fans want me to voice my opinions. Ever think that maybe there are 5 or 6 people that give me the info and I just post it? Some parents PM me because they don't want to hear it from the ones that always nag/rag on differing views.

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

My fans want me to voice my opinions, so, I guess we're even there.

Two puppies and a cat do not count as your fans DP. Feel free to email me KHS issues. If I feel they are valid, I will post them also.

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

No...if I have an issue with KHS, I deal with it directly at KHS. I don't hide behind a screenname bashing the principal and constantly whining online.

I'll leave that nonsense to you and your "fans."

KHSDad125 --- 12 years ago -

KHS won't deal with you anymore than they deal with me. Fact! I have done everything BUT hide. Fact! Bashing is when something isn't true.

patchycat --- 12 years ago -

Dorothy, I spend a lot of time interacting with parents at school helping with various organizations, and I can assure you that their are many parents who do not like Dr. Landry. It will be interesting to see the response when the fund raising fiasco hits the fan next fall.

KHSDad125 --- 12 years ago -

Parents AND staff. You can't expect to be successful when you alienate people.

patchycat --- 12 years ago -

Well, I didn't have first hand knowledge of staff members, but I know about plenty of parents.

a3742956uu --- 12 years ago -

Yes they had counselors go into each one of his classes after it first happened. My child didn't even have classes with him this term and knew they were available and some of the teachers did talk with the kids on their own.

Aah Grasshoppa --- 12 years ago -

Your fans? Wow..... I don't recall seeing you on here very much.

It is everyone's prerogative to have an opinion about a particular subject but when you don't bring facts to your argument, it really makes it impossible to have a valid debate with you.

After further investigation it appears the previous poster is correct that there were plenty of grief counselors available.

photophanatic --- 12 years ago -

I am not sure why you have such a hard on for KHS. Let me explain how they deal with a death on a campus.
1. The counselors are notified as soon as possible.
2. Counselors frOm around the district are assigned to be on the campus where the death occurred for as long as they are needed usually minimum 3 days.
3 the faculty and staff of the campus affected hold an early morning staff meeting to discuss how the day will go, what info needs to be given out, and provide support for each of them.
4. After an EXHAUSTING day of helping kids deal with a loss they come back together and debrief and discuss students that really seem to be struggling and may need some extra attention in the coming days.
5. Then they do it all over again everyday until the kids are in a better place.
SO before you start bashing what humble isd does for their students, you should get some
Details. They go above and beyond in situations such as these.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 12 years ago -

Once again, this thread proves itstxdaddy right. Winning, Dorothy, and waterfall were the first to attack a poster on a thread. For no good reason. Just bitter souls.

Good job, guys/gals!!

SoupIsGoodFood --- 12 years ago -

Just go back to bed.

I corrected that for you, LBF.

planemom --- 12 years ago -

Why should schools provide grief counselors?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 12 years ago -

grief counselors available.

I'm not sure I know what a grief counselor is. When I was in High School there were a few that were lost in Vietnam, but I don't recall any counselors, just a memorial service.

yup...point made.

waterfall --- 12 years ago -

waterfall were the first to attack a poster on a thread. For no good reason. Just bitter souls.

Really? If he has an issue with KHS, why not transfer to KPHS? It's called a suggestion. How is it an attack?

And as for his original question, he got a detailed explanation from photophanatic. I hope that helps him.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 12 years ago -

It's there for all to see. A straight up gang attack from the CN bunch.

He simply asked a question.

itstxdaddy --- 12 years ago -

the problem as I see it, is that with every unprovoked attack that goes without repercussion, others will decide what's good for the goose....and it will be on. free for all, everyday.

no big deal to me.....

photophanatic --- 12 years ago -

He did not simply ask a question or state an opinion. He was stirring the pot.
If he would have said according to my kid or so and so's kid that happened to know , have class with, or was best friends with Casey there was no support from the campus and I wanted to see if anyone knew the protocol for such events, that would have been a question.
Almost every post he has is trashing Humble ISD or KHS specifically.
He comes across as antagonistic and hostile.

waterfall --- 12 years ago -

CN bunch.

What is your obsession with CN? It has NOTHING to do with KU. So because someone posts on a different forum, they are automatically "bad" in your opinion?

Yes, he asked a question. If you go back through his posting history, you will see that he is constantly bashing KHS. Maybe you haven't noticed that, but some of us have which is why we responded the way that we did.

no big deal to me.....

Seems like it is or you wouldn't continue to post about it.

Your opinion.

It doesn't give you the right to attack.

Carry on though. Some of us are getting our Friday laughs on.

fair warning.

waterfall --- 12 years ago -

Yes we are. :)

photophanatic --- 12 years ago -

When there is a death on a campus it often affects not only the ones that knew the person but also those who have experienced losses in their past. Teachers also struggle with the deaths of their students and need extra TLC. And campuses need to treat each death the same and have the same support services regardless of the popularity, good kid or bad kid. They notice and remember how their friends are mourned versus others . KHS specifically does a great job with this entire process. They work hard to keep just the facts and not the gossip kids and parents pass on as fact. Schools are not required to provide counseling to your kid for a death. That follows under the responsibility of parenting.
