If you want to log in under different names have at it. Why does it matter? 

I would like to see a trip-monitor which shows multiple accounts originating from a particular IP. The Ice-Box is there for a reason. 

Nobody cares, but it is FUN when you figure it out.

The alt ID thing is creepy. Why would someone do that? Very weird to see 2 alt ID's having a conversation with each other. It's usually to offer support to the other ID for some argument. 

That's bizarre Gasshoppa. I think that's when you know the person is delusional. It's hilarious when a person says they don't have any alts but they are so programmed that their even their typing styles are exactly the same. When called to the mat on it they change it. LOL crazy

It's not having alts that's the big deal. There is no rule against it even.

It's the dishonesty and trolling if you use it for that.

Another honest question might be WHY you feel you can't post your thoughts and opinions under your real screen name? I think some people are very much aware that their views aren't widely accepted and so they post under an alt, it's cowardly.

I think the fun silly alts are just fine. But the ones where they argue with each other, create fake and dramatic stuff shows they know they have to hide their behavior.

Everyone should create an alt id. Make it completely opposite of your real personality and post only on this thread. Lets see if people can figure out who you really are. Don't be mean just different. Maybe walk a mile in the polar opposite from a religious, political or gender stand point. funny 

I was thought to be someone's alt when I first started posting because of the way I was arguing on a heated topic. I was taking things too personally. So somebody thought I was Ashley. I came here for the things that made me laugh. I didn't come here for the arguments but I later got caught up in one where I knew I was taking things too personally and SO'd to take some time off. After a few months I tried again. This time I'm trying to be nicer (except for a recent weak moment). So I'm even phrasing things differently, using more words, and re-reading and editing before I post. I decided to emulate others who don't take things personally. Since then I have only been accused of being an alt once. I'm sure I'm overthinking it and trying too hard to be different from who I am and more like someone who gets along better with others. If I get accused of being someone else, it is totally my fault. I need to stop overthinking things like I always do and just be myself.

You're taking KU way too seriously. lol! 

There are times that alts are amusing and others times they are just a bit irritating. In both of those cases it is when they are so painfully obvious. An example is when someone makes a thread to advertise their maid service or child care or whatever.

Then within a few hours there will be a post singing the praises of the said service from an ID that is either brand new or has only ever posted as testimonials.

There used to be someone on here (I can't remember who) that had an Alt that they only pulled out when they were losing an argument and needed some reinforcement. That one actually was a little bit amusing.

Thanks for the reminder of a KU classic. I think I even saved that thread in my favorites. I was laughing so hard that night that I woke Dh up which is not easy to do.

Than we have had the really disturbed posters.

Jorden that made up the sick Dr. baby and took up money and stuff to be sent to them. Had KU'er praying and crying for weeks. Come to find out she was a lonely photo taker from Porter Wal-Mart just looking for attn. And copied all the info. from a website in I think Germany of a story about a baby who had died years ago.

Than SS, who made us all think the little boy she had alot belong to her and he had juvenile diabetes, asking for help to get back and forth to the Hospital to visit him. Hell she would even check his blood sugar and when she could get a KU'er to babysit she also had them checking the baby's blood sugar. Come to find out it was not her baby, it was the baby of a foster sister she had growing up. And the baby did not have juvenile diabetes, it was her who had diabetes. All for attn. and a hand out that went on for years,

And lets not forget the youth pastor who was here picking up young girls or ACE who got his rocks off by sending nude photos to alot of the KU Lady's. Poor Dumbass for got he had the same ugly wall paper in the background of his profile pic. 

Who doesn't have an alt id? Sometimes you want to ask something and be incognito which is fine IMO. Just don't argue with yourself and stir up the pot.

It all may sound bad but it was better than the fighting about politics.
I think if you need to make an alt to back you up on an argument, you might know your thinking is a little off. 

Alts are just a part of KU life. Just as are crazy people. Alts are only threatening when the people behind them are.

You are probably right about that although in the case where a child was involved, or people were duped into being scammed out of money for their good hearts alts can be really criminal. I also know someone that was communicating via PM with a "woman" on KU and found out it was really a man who was trying to get intimate info to get their rocks off.

So buyer beware when alts are concerned and the history of some of these phoneys is one reason why people keep an eye out for suspicious sounding IDs.

But yeah, the endless political threads have no humor, where the sillysmurf days had me checking in every day just for the drama and laughs.
