Anything on the menu that you recommend?

That's strange. We went there a couple weeks ago, and thought the portions were very good. We enjoyed everything. Service was great. We were impressed with the large serving size for my glass of wine, which was reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised overall, and will plan to go again.

It is very good. The catfish is limp and not very crispy though. It does have good flavor but I like a little more crisp to the fried catfish.
The fries are great.

I just don't like seafood but once in a blue moon so we only go for seafood every few months, if that.

Had a wonderful dinner at Lucille's tonight. We were so impressed. We went early at 5 after running errands. And we entered HUNGRY! Lucille's took care of that!!

The place was near empty. We sat near the front of the place. Saw 6-8 tables stream in as we ate along with a steady business in the eat-in bar.

The place is beautiful! Very large waiting area, comfortable and casual ambiance with some good tunes in the back ground. I could see how the center section could be held for large groups. It was very secluded from the booths lining the border of the restaurant.

Service was fast. They start us off with 2 kinds of corn muffins: sweet and jalapeno, and squishy soft sweet rolls with maple butter. We ate two baskets of that!

I had the fried shrimp and hand-cut beer battered fries. MMMM! The salad to start off with was fresh with all kinds of yummies on it with a wonderful sweet Chili dressing. So good! Dh had the oyster P'Boy and a bowl of Gumbo. He was impressed with the fresh-made-daily Gumbo saying it was better than Zachary's! His P'Boy was loaded up!!

We spoke with Frank the GM who made his way through the restaurant talking with patrons. He was very interested in what we had to say. He wants to hear both the good and the bad, so they can improve. He said their wish is fresh foods the way "Lucille would have cooked it" and yet a bit out of the ordinary. They watch the menu carefully and make changes often as their patrons deem.

If you don't want fried seafood, they have burgers, steaks, and grilled items. I know we will be back. Frank says their fried veggies appetizer is one of their most popular. He made me hungry again talking about it!

Looks good.

I'm not a fan of Zachary's. We'll have to try Lucille's. How are the prices?

MGD3 --- 10 years ago -

The first time I went I had salmon. It was delicious and the portions were generous. However the second time I went, because I had a craving for that salmon again, I was disappointed both in the portions and quality. Both had changed for the worst...
I will probably still give them another try sometime to settle my opinion.

So is Frank, Frank the Chef?

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

Frank was a lot of things but he was not a sh!tty cook!

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

No, not Frank the Chef. This is Frank the GM and he does not cook. But he is interested in when you feel you dinner did not come up to par as much as he enjoys the compliments.

Identity Crisis --- 10 years ago -

I went for lunch today. The fish was seasoned perfectly, not too salty. I was very impressed. The place was empty at 11:30. I hope their lunch crowd picks up.
I would go again in a heartbeat!!
