VERNON, Conn. -- Most people would jump at the chance to be able to go back in time and fix a serious mistake that they've made. An Edwin O. Smith High School varsity girls soccer coach is having his worst nightmare come to life and unfortunately can't do anything to reverse it.
Jeffrey M. Sirois told deputies that he accidentally sent a a video of himself masturbating to some of the girls on his team which was supposed to go to his girlfriend instead.
The 57-year-old Sirois handed over the footage to police and they matched the video that the girls saw on Snapchat.
Snapchat is an app that allows you to share and send video and images that are available for the recipient to view for a maximum of 10 seconds.
One of the team members was friends with the coach on Snapchat and received the video. In utter shock, they shared it to other team members.
"Once I realized what I was watching I threw my phone down on the table and said, 'guys, you have to look at this,'" said the team member who initially received the video, according to the warrant.
"We were all shocked by what we saw in the video and were talking about it." Another student at the pizza restaurant--where they were when saw they saw the video--who was friends with Sirois on Snapchat checked her phone a few minutes later and saw that the video had been deleted.
"We all realized that we needed to talk to someone about this."
"I was upset and disturbed by the content and offended that our coach would share something like this," another team member told police later.
The girls alerted the volleyball coach and she alerted the principal. The police were later contacted.
Sirois' face was not in the picture but key pieces of furniture were shown in the video and later verified when police obtained a warrant to search his home.
Sirois claims that this was not intentional and that nothing like this has ever happened before. "I attempted to send a video of myself in which I was masturbating," he explained, "I was making the video to send to my girlfriend. It is something she and I occasionally do."
He told police that once he realized the reason why she had not responded and what happened, that is when he immediately deleted it "about 15 seconds later."
Sirois faces obscenity, risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace charges. He posted $100,000 bail.
No your characterization ignores the fact that I previously stated which is (again), recording and distribution is just exhibitionism. How do we know that he either does or does not have the ability to control his actions?
I'm going to ditto that, for the love of all that's holy, some of these people have no character. It's not that he sent something sexy to his GF. It's that he used his own students in his mind as his sexual fantasy objects. Real life girls he comes in contact with every day to whom he is a superior.
If one of those girls was mine, I wouldn't be happy.
And yeah, had he not screwed up and actually sent it to one, we'd probably never know. Not comforting to think people like this coach our kids.
With all there is available to "view"....he picks his own students.
Question: if the snapchats self destruct in 15 seconds, how is there any proof of this video?
