Are there many people getting letters from the Elm Grove HOA ? We got one stating our siding is "moldy" there is a bit of of dirt we can powerwash off but driving up and down the street there are much worse houses im just wondering if they went on a notice fest and are trying to fine us all?

I think they are trying to fine as many people as possible. My neighbor got a notice and I cannot believe he was cited. There are houses that they should send notices to, overgrown yards, trash strewn in their yards, house repairs. They don't seem to be targeting the right people.

I received a notice about my trashcan being visible. I moved it but notice that at least 5 other houses near me have them much more visible but didn't receive a notice. Or if they did they ignored it.

Fine? There is no charge when you have a deed restriction violation unless they mow your yard then they will charge you for that cost.

Probably the latter.

Good for the EG HOA....I lived there 32 years and never received any violation letters.....I wish they would take a much stronger stance......quit whining about everyone else and be a responsible homeowner....

Elm Grove HOA Sent us a letter telling us to move a bb goal ! We do have one never had one! My kids are adults not living at home. There was one in front of my neighbors next door wasn't his either belong to the kids across the street, this neighbor got the 1st told HOA was not his. They then send letter to Us We tell them it is not ours and let them know who's it is! They have send a 2nd notice. The thing was never in front of my house at all. The People scoping things out need to get the facts straight before just sending random letters!
There are homes falling apart and people who have trash in there driveways being worried about a bb goal kids use to play with is stupid! It was never in the way of anything. But if you are going to complain get the facts of who it belongs to straight! Even when told.

Well, I get a letter recently for sitting my "bagged yard debris" out the day before trash day. Yeah ... well ... I happened to know the morning of trash pickup was one of those monsoon rain days and put it out the night before so I wouldn't have to get out in the thunder, lightening and rain the next morning!

I have bagged yard debris out on Monday, (the day the yard guy comes and trash day is not til
Wednesday. I have never had a SWH letter about it.

I think they are getting very heavy handed.
There are people with campers in Driveways and that's not an issue.

They sent me a letter about my lawn and it not being mowed and that there was dead spots in the yard. I have a very large tree that is preventing the grass from growing well...So do they want me to cut down a 300 year old tree so they can have grass.

I resided the lawn but just got a new letter saying we still have them. So i don't know what to do.

On top of it all i have a dying parent that requires round the clock attention and a fairly substantial financial commitment,

I really don't know what to do and i really haven't done anything wrong. I am happy if they go after real violators but sending me mail about my lawn not being mowed after a flood and telling me that i need to replace dead spots that i already did without damaging the tree.

I"m really open for suggestions and i may be ready to run for this 'board' myself

A few things about HOA's
1. they only harass the people that they know will comply/pay, so tell them to go take a hike or better yet don't reply.
2. they have virtually no legal jurisdiction to make you pay fines, TX just passed a bunch of laws reducing their authority,
3. how your yard/fence/roof/siding/dirveway/etc. looks is all relative to the person making a report and thereby not legally relevant (especially without documentation like time dated photos),
4. unless it is a certified letter, they can't prove you ever got it and it is not considered a legal form of notification by any court.

Someone else wrote this. Sounds good to me. I've always told the HOA to go scratch.
Is it accurate or not. I'm not sure, but they need to stop bugging people especially about grass. We had so much rain in a short time, some people's yards were swampy, you can't cut that till it dries out. The so called power went to the heads of the HOA folks, their like cops wanna-bes...
