We have been working on our lanscape since May and dealing with the HOAand they continual deny what we do for approval, now they want us to make our flower beds in the shape of a starburst and also to resold the part of our neighbors yard that buts up to ours, my questions anyone else have this same problems with HOA? We had lanscape rock I our yard and they said it was too much, so we made a bigger flower bed and they said now that the rock has to be a least 25 ft from the road, now they are saying that about the sod and starburst shape. We have driven around the neighborhood and have seen many yards far worse than ours,. We have been to a board meeting, with no help, any suggestions?

You need to move to Bear Branch. Anything goes over there.

Starburst? WTH?!

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

What flavor?

FANCY PANTS --- 9 years ago -

WOW! You need to go to the HOA and tell them you are not going to change the boarder of your gardens to a starburst and that your neighbors sod is not your responsibility. They are being very unreasonable. I really do not think they can tell you how to landscape your yard. You might want to have a lawyer write them a letter.

I guarantee you none of those ridiculous stipulations are in your deed restrictions.

whatchamacallit --- 9 years ago -

Seriously? A STARBURST? Are you sure? There are so many different kinds, how will they know if you do it wrong?

post a picture!

I would attend the meeting and ask for them to show you in the deed restrictions all these things they are asking of you. I have not read your restrictions but I am sure there is nothing like that in there.

andreweggplant --- 9 years ago -

That's BS... There is nothing in the deed restrictions that state what they are asking you to do. Totally ridiculous! Let the neighbor re-sod his own yard

OLDBIKER --- 9 years ago -

I live in elm grove they are ridiculous,1st get out the deed restrictions and read it like a corporate attorney ,and make sure you are in the guidelines, find your boundary survey and know where your lot is.2nd fix what is not and do not ask for their approval, take pictures of other houses worse than yours(not mine),waait for letter then go to meeting.

And find out boar members name and look them up on hcad, and go inspect their house ,they are not perfect I'm sure.

Excellent idea!

Because of this thread, I had a dream that the HOA came by and redid all the landscaping in my front and back yard. IT was a mess! I was screaming mad as they removed some of my rare plants and replaced it with sod. And not a very good job of it either. I screamed at the landscapers, "You ought to know better than doing this kind of work! You should be ashamed of yourselves!!" They answered, "That is how the lady wanted us to do it!" I guess you had to be there. LOL Will someone please post about fairies and magic unicorns so I can have a happy dream?
