We tried a granular from Alspaugh's - it didn't work. We tried Cutter - it didn't work.

I finally went to Kingwood Garden Center and used their recommended spray product over the weekend. And the web worms along with the adult moths are gone.

I used 1.5 bottles to cover the back and front yard. I will reapply again this weekend as a preventative measure.

What is this magical spray product?

Karras --- 8 years ago -

It's called Cyonara.

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -

Cyonara.

Glad it's worked for you.

I've been using Cyonara every 2 weeks for about 8 weeks now and it hasn't worked yet. It may slow them down for a couple of days but they just keep coming back.

I made sure that it wasn't going to rain for at least 24 hours before I applied the product. And I over sprayed too.

Yeah ... the rain been hard to monitor recently. I just applied another round last evening. Hopefully we don't get any of those "pop-up" showers today.

It is really hard to get rid of the moths when your neighbors have them and don't treat their yard. They just migrate over once the neighbor's yards are destroyed :(

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

^^That.
Be vigilant. They will be back! They fly, you know?

I think that's why I am having such a terrible time getting rid of them. Even though I have talked to several neighbors that have destroyed lawns, about the problem and that it needs attention, most are too old to care, or they don't really care what their lawns look like anyway. I don't think I stand a chance ... even though when I spray, I spray into the neighbor's yards as far as I can.

I'm hand raking the dead spots so the insecticide can get all the way to the soil. Also, when I mow, I am bagging and removing the grass. Hopefully I'm taking some of the eggs along with it. My problem is not the neighbors- I'm right on the greenbelt and all the moths are happily hiding in the woods while I spray!

I am situated similar to you Brewgirl. I have dethatched by rake my lawn 3 times so far, the bag has been attached to my mower and my mower has been lowered a notch. I spray into the forest 25 feet. But yes, the moths are everywhere. They are "Fall" webworms and yet we have summer-like temps and humidity. Obviously they don't appear because of temperature drop. They must have internal calendars!
