Does anyone have any suggestions on old family owned restaurants or kolachi places. I will be going to Austin and can be flexible with driving to out of the way places. Thanks.

You should check out The Daytripper, its a show on PBS where the hose goes to all the local towns in Texas. For each show he checks out tourist attractions and places to eat.

You can also check out their website www.thedaytripper.com for more info.

One more to consider. I heard about Snows BBQ in Lexington from this show.

Thanks you guys. Lots of nice people on this message board. A friend also suggested I go to Czech restaurants which have the best kolaches. I also want to go to the UT stargazing in Austin.

You cant go wrong in that neck of the woods. Just pick a road and go. Town to town with NO agenda is the best.

Best brisket I ever had. Seriously worth the ungodly drive out there.

You can also have it shipped to you overnight, and I ship you not it tastes just as good. Pricey but great if you're entertaining out of towners and want to show off.
