Just got this message on Next Door:

Kristy Vincent, Bear Branch
Humble ISD will be CLOSED Monday and Tuesday due to concerns about flooded roadway conditions. Please stay safe!

esquala --- 7 years ago -

Latest is it's closed all week. First day is a week from Tuesday.

TinktheSprite --- 7 years ago -

Opens Sept 5th.

Karras --- 7 years ago -

A little extreme to me. I wonder how they will make up the days?:
1. Add the days to the end of the year
2. Add time to each day
3. Eliminate early release/late arrival
4. Eliminate holidays

Excuse me but we have teachers who live in Houston who are losing Everything.. I know that it's nothing that Kingwood people need to concern themselves with, but those teaches and families are going to need some time to get different housing before being able to come to work. I think it's great that the district is being considerate of this.

They can get a waiver from the state if it is over 2 days missed and then days DO NOT need to be made up. School is the least of our worries.

We missed 10 days with Ike and didn't have to make up the days. The same will be done with this storm.

Most schools don't start until after Labor Day, anyway. No big deal.

Tink, I don't know what you mean, but, I was offended that more parents are frustrated with not having that babysitter of school available AND the fact that I believe that many KIngwood people don't often think about the NON Kingwood Humble ISD personnel. So sue me

TEA has issued a 5 day waiver already at a minimum to Houston area schools. These 5 days won't have to be made up.

It's okay, vernsgirl. A lot of people feel Kingwood residents live in a bubble. We don't all live that way, I can assure you. Of course they shouldn't start class this week. It's too much of a mess, a huge God-awful mess.
