From the Atascocita Observer

We've just learned that the body of Devon Davis, the missing 2-year-old from Tarkington, has been located. We have no information about the cause of death at this time. Reporter Cassie Gregory is at the scene and will have a report as soon as possible. Please be patient as we work on details of this breaking new story. -- Vanesa

How unbelievably horrible. God bless that poor little boy. Makes me so ill. :(

LitlJay --- 2 years ago -

I've had a stomach bug all last night and all day today.

It just got worse.

LIBERTY COUNTY – Searchers believe they have found the remains of missing toddler Devin Davis in a scum covered pond about 300 yards from the home where he went missing.

The search was called off about a half hour earlier and the helicopters were making one final pass over the area, around 2 p.m., before leaving when they saw what they believed to be a small body in the water.

The area was immediately cleared of all non-essential persons while the recovery was made.

Law enforcement was speaking with the parents as of 2:30 p.m.

So sad..

Jen --- 2 years ago -

Thank goodness the helicopter went by one last time...for some kind of closure at least

if the was that freaking close to the house and they have been searching in the waters and other places for 3 days now why didn't they see him??? They showed searchers walking in water with suba gear on!!! What if they dumped his body in there today because they knew they had been had!

8675309 --- 2 years ago -

Poor baby!! So now we know. :(

I was thinking the same thing

Work in Progress --- 2 years ago -

Guys, I hate to be so macabre, but that's about how long it takes a body to float.

Aah Grasshoppa --- 2 years ago -

That is heartbreaking.

I totally understand that BUT there was video i saw the other day and it showed police dive teams walking inch by inch of the ponds that surrounded the house. Now if they are walking in these why didn't they find him????

DearestTattooedDragon --- 2 years ago -

so he wasn't eaten by an animal..

itstxdaddy --- 2 years ago -

so very very sad. i have a 2 year old boy and could not imagine this.

i hope that whatever happened, it was quick and painless.

Lord - bless this little one. Welcome him home.

freebyrdII --- 2 years ago -

Oh my God.... From ur topic I thought he was alive!!! OH NO!

itstxdaddy --- 2 years ago -

TD - seriously? why so crass?

We have had some rain, maybe the water receded. I hope it was just a horrible, horrible accident and that his family can find peace. It is such rugged terrain and I admire the searchers and recovery teams so much. I know they wanted to bring him home no matter what.

I just can not imagine the grief and the pain of something so sad.

Rest in Peace, little guy. I didn't know you, but your mischievous grin and tousled red hair touched my heart.

freebyrdII --- 2 years ago -

I dont think she was being crass... many of us feared that fate...

Dorothy Parker --- 2 years ago -

:(

Well..I did read on ABC earlier today, that a criminal investigation, was ongoing..But now, this is on their site.

investigators said they did not notice any signs of trauma on the boy's body and they do not believe foul play was involved in his death.

Thank God!!

Good Ole USA --- 2 years ago -

Glad they found him. It is a coincidence that he was missed by the searchers, but they will check their grid and question the searchers and determine if it was dumped. Also, the medical examiner will offer valuavle insight. I had cheap alarms on the doors that went off if the door opened. My three year old got out and i followed him. He rode his bike down the street, took a left, and around a curve to the park. It was when we were all taking a nap.

nanalynn --- 2 years ago -

My heart breaks for this family. I know from reading it was a terrible tragidy. May Devin's soul rest in peace!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 2 years ago -

His death has been ruled an accidental drowning.

Story here

SmoochieAndTheBean --- 2 years ago -

"About 45 minutes before the boy’s body was found, his father and an area minister had gotten down on their knees to pray that somehow the boy would be found before searchers had to call it quits."

Sooooo many tears

SmoochieAndTheBean --- 2 years ago -

Devon loved firetrucks, so his casket was transported on an antique firetruck.

What a sweet sentiment.

Good Ole USA --- 2 years ago -

So sad. That was a nice sentiment.

ladybeachbum --- 2 years ago -

So sad. I hope Devon is on the firetrucks in heaven putting out the devils work!

Update just now on the news.

The other child, the newborn girl, was put into the care of relatives. Last night the Davis' both stormed in and took the girl and drove off. Because CPS doesn't have custody, they were allowed to leave.

Work in Progress --- 2 years ago -

I don't blame them. I'd want my kid back too!

me --- 2 years ago -

I agree 100% with what they did. CPS had NO business taking the daughter and then dragging their feet about it. FYI she was 1years old. I hope CPS leaves them alone. They have been through so much already.

stuck in the middle --- 2 years ago -

I doubt they stormed in! They hired an attorney who found out there was no court order. The Mother was never charged with anything. They went & picked up their child so they can head home to Virginia. They haven't been in Texas long, but it's been a hellavu bad time!

Sasha~Fierce --- 2 years ago -

Be careful before you just go trashing CPS on this. The mom signed a consent order turning the child over to friends. CPS was involved, but there was no court ordered removal or anything. CPS also didn't stop her from taking the child back. The person who had custody called law enforcement. LCSO talked them into stopping in Woodville and meeting with them. Which they did. Since there was no court order, LCSO checked on them. And sent them on their way back to Virginia.

SmoochieAndTheBean --- 2 years ago -

I agree I would probably do the same thing. I was wording it exactly how I heard the new reporter say it.

stuck in the middle --- 2 years ago -

Everyone was bashing the Chronicle this morning because they used the word "snatched" in their headline.
Kind of like - The parents went in & snatched the kid away! That's the media for ya'
