If you are carrying and do not realize you are printing, would you want some one to tell you?

This morning I noticed a guy obviously printing. I walked up and in a very low voice told him that he was printing and he got pissy with me and telling me it was non of my business.

As for me, if I was, I would greatly appreciate someone telling me so I could correct it.

whatchamacallit --- 11 years ago -

Me too, but some people take your noticing ANYTHING as a criticism. They are the same people that don't want to know when their kid is misbehaving(to the point of endangering), their fly is open, they left their lights on, their shirt is on wrong side out, etc....lol

Prolix Raconteur --- 11 years ago -

not sure how i would react to that...unless it was blatantly obvious, most people wouldn't notice or know what they were looking at...

i was reaching for something on a shelf at academy recently and didn't realize my shirt lifted completely over my holster..my wife laughed and said "no, that's not obvious at all" HAHA..

winter sure makes it easier to conceal though..

Sideboom --- 11 years ago -

ericb, i know what you mean. I have done that several times and same thing my wife just laughs. When my son was younger he seen it one day at the grocery store and made sure everyone in the store knew I had my pistol with me. lol.

This was very obvious. There are times it looks like someone is carrying but this was very obvious. I was not looking to cause a scene just a friendly warning so he did not get a ticket or in these day and times some idiot freaking out.

JunkyBusiness --- 11 years ago -

I would want to know.

I don't want bad guys to know I'm carrying until it's too late for them.

IMHO it makes me a target as they know I'm carrying.

Snake Plissken --- 11 years ago -

I've wondered about this before -- would I want someone "cool" to tell me I'm printing? The answer is yes because it's better than some nervous Nelly telling the Barney Fife security guard.

However I think peoples natural instinct is to be defensive.

Quixote --- 11 years ago -

Better hearing it from a concerned, sympathetic citizen rather than a gung-ho police rookie with John Wayne syndrome and a chip on his/her shoulder.

Dr Aborto --- 11 years ago -

LOL I get it, anybody else see the irony in the line?

Tylers Journey --- 11 years ago -

I always put my purse over mine so it blocks it

No. What is it?

Dr Aborto --- 11 years ago -

Wanna be cops with John Wayne syndrome and a chip on their shoulder afraid of gung-ho police rookie with John Wayne syndrome and a chip on his/her shoulder.

Prolix Raconteur --- 11 years ago -

i'm sure that's the first thing that will come to your mind when you're handing over your wallet and peeing down your leg in a parking lot some night

Snake Plissken --- 11 years ago -

How on earth did you come to that conclusion? The movies? TV?

Sinister --- 11 years ago -

Basically the only difference is the badge. lmao.

Prolix Raconteur --- 11 years ago -

because hand wringing, anti gun people think anybody who is pro carry or pro gun has psychological issues..

I'm pro gun. I've gotten gun advice from a couple of you from this board. But there is an M.O. to you guys.

Cops became cops because they want to enforce the law (i.e. tell you what to do). I, on the other hand, don't give a flying f what you do as long as it doesn't impact me or my family.

Your assumed MO says a lot about you.

Prolix Raconteur --- 11 years ago -

But there is an M.O. to you guys.

don't go passing judgement or stereotyping people based on assumption..i was raised around guns, hunting when i was a kid, shooting at the range or friend's farms...i never carried until a few years ago after two incidents with people i knew well... one was a friend who was held up in a parking lot for a wallet and cell phone...the other was much worse; son of a friend had just returned from iraq and was carjacked outside of a neighborhood bar...he didn't resist and got shot anyway, and subsequently run over by his own vehicle...he's been in a wheel chair ever since, paralyzed from the waist down..

Tipsyhic --- 11 years ago -

My girl friend told me my printing was huge.

Dr Aborto --- 11 years ago -

Don't take it the wrong way, Batman has a chip on his shoulder too.

More movie fantasy...

Peeking Boo --- 11 years ago -

I'd want to know.

If he's going to act that way towards someone trying to help him, he'll be the one to pay the price when he's busted for it.

Prolix Raconteur --- 11 years ago -

and a boy wonder as well...but we all really know what's going on there..

If you are carrying and do not realize you are printing, would you want some one to tell you?

Absolutely....following all conceal carry laws should be paramount in everyone's thinking that have a CHL....it's a responsibility that should be taken very serious.....

OL AG 89 --- 11 years ago -

My DW ALWAYS checks my package before we go out, to make sure I'm not imprinting......

Afterwards I usually am, but I'm a grower, not a shower.......

Warren Peace --- 11 years ago -

Question for you CHL guys: What do the instructors tell you to do with your weapon when you have to sit in a bathroom stall?

OL AG 89 --- 11 years ago -

Don't lay it on the floor, I usually just leave on waist, but sometimes remove and placed in pants.

Don't do anything with the shoulder weapon......

SueRDH --- 11 years ago -

Question for you CHL guys: What do the instructors tell you to do with your weapon when you have to sit in a bathroom stall?

Ha! No one in my class asked that question. Good one though.

Snake Plissken --- 11 years ago -

What kind of holsters y'all use? Crossbreed is the only one I'm comfortable with.

...and I rarely poop in public bathrooms.

SleightOfHand --- 11 years ago -

"What kind of holsters y'all use? Crossbreed is the only one I'm comfortable with.

No holster, i just stick that hunk of stainless steel into the front of my pants cocked, locked and ready to rock!

Johnny Slam --- 11 years ago -

What if it turns out the guy is a thug and you tell him he is printing? Probably let him print, it's his responsibility to have all of that worked out before he goes packing.

Warren Peace --- 11 years ago -

I was asking because I had a flashback in the airport this morning. Was traveling lite with only an iPad in hand. In the stall there was no place to put it. So I reverted to my firearms training and placed it in the cradle of my undergarments (which seemed to be the cleanest alternative). Anybody want to borrow my iPad?

It also reminded me of a time the job had me traveling armed. I needed a pit stop so I pulled into a hotel (they always have the cleanest bathrooms) and found their lobby area restroom. I put the gun in the undergarments. I tend not to be focused on the task at hand under those circumstances so my mind wandered. Once properly cleansed I stood up and pulled up my trousers. Mr Glock quickly introduced himself to my undercarriage. Fortunately it was a tender kiss. That tends to be a self-correcting error.

I see what you did there..... Sit in a stall......

I prefer the ranger drop..... No part of me touches the seat ever.....!

SleightOfHand --- 11 years ago -

I hold mine and prepared to pop a cap into anyone that wants to play footsie

scipsekatattes --- 11 years ago -

He was probably "wanting" to announce he was carrying so he could 'show off'….'feel tough'….was an ego thing and when you said something it put him in a place to either fix it and no longer look 'tough' or not and look stupid to not fix it…so ticked him off.

ADD: And "yes" I would certainly appreciate knowing so that I could correct and shift it to no longer show….of course! I don't want to ever give someone notice so that I lose my edge!
