Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Did anyone watch the news last night about the Houston nurse who puts up a kindness calendar at her hospital and it lists a different act of kindness each day of the month?

Well, we could use a calendar like this on KU. We are not very nice to one another at times. Maybe today, would be a great day for there to be not one unkind word to each other. And maybe tomorrow, one of you will come and rake my leaves, and then Saturday, I need my windows washed, and Sunday, toilet cleaning day....what do you guys think?

Not KU --- 10 years ago -

The Problem with being nice is "No good deed goes UN-punished "

Example:
Every time I make a post pointing out a societal wrong. I am mocked and ridiculed as being out of touch or liberal and how the system is fine as it is. (Im about freedom of speech) but the barometer of society at large (not just on here) has no tolerance of helping the needy. Only the greedy. Dont believe me? Just go down town by Main and 59 and ask all those hobos who served in the military.

How many threads here on KU talk about favoring tax breaks for the top? The majority here don't care about the poor. Illegal aliens or their plight. But would hire them in a second to mow a lawn or wash a car.

Post your good deed calender on KU, and watch it die a lonely death. Even this thread is 45 mins old and Im the 1st to comment. What does that say?

Malevolent Witches Club --- 10 years ago -

mr negativity

Porter Wagoner (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

Yes, positive things NEVER happen on KU.

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

I understand the concept douchehead. Now fly away byrdbrain.

Maybe we could simply "post" kinder posts. ;)

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Crap, and all I wanted was my windows washed!

Malevolent Witches Club --- 10 years ago -

Crap, and all I wanted was my windows washed!?

someone on here pimps out her sons to do random shat like that

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Mr Mark, nobody wants to stop you from being kind. We just want to stop you from being "kind" with someone else's money. You see the difference?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

The majority here don't care about the poor.

The reason you are ridiculed is because you make statements like the one you made above.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

society at large (not just on here) has no tolerance of helping the needy

Here's another reason you are ridiculed. The statement you made above is just plain false. The U.S. is by far the most charitable nation on earth, ever.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

Just go down town by Main and 59 and ask all those hobos who served in the military.

Serving in the military doesn't gurantee you a comfortable existence for life. What's the characterization of their discharge? Why are they hobos?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

Not this thread............. again.

whatchamacallit --- 10 years ago -

An act of kindness is something YOU
CHOOSE to do.

It is NOT the results of someone strong arming people out of their hard earned money, only to redistribute it to those that don't care to work.

Caring about the poor has nothing to do with government programs and how they are funded with taxpayers dollars, especially when such a small percentage of the take actually gets to the recipients and most is sucked up by "administrative" costs.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

I'm going to be kind to Emperor and give him $100 because I'm such a good person and I'm charitable. That's because I care about people more than others!!!

Mr. Mark, pay Emperor the charity I promised him. Emperor, I expect your loyalty for all I have given you.

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Why is no one giving me 100 bucks? I could use the cash today.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Wicked, I am so compassionate and loving, that I will give you $100 bucks too! Mr. Mark, pay the woman.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

LOL.......... You are batting 1.000 today, WiP.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Lol, well, I don't have a job so I can't pay the people who lobby for money. Mr Mark has music gigs and has a lot more money than I do.

Gosh, Mr Mark! Why do you hate poor people?

Nurse3 --- 10 years ago -

I'm going to be kind to Emperor and give him $100 because I'm such a good person and I'm charitable. That's because I care about people more than others!!!Mr. Mark, pay Emperor the charity I promised him. Emperor, I expect your loyalty for all I have given you.

That's some good stuff there! Thanks for the laugh! I believe there was some documentation about how much more charitable repubs are then dems, but it was with THEIR own money not relying on the gov to do it for them. I'll have to try to find that.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Mr Mark! Wicked is still waiting for her money! She a MINORITY Mr. Mark. Only 50% of the world is female. Duh. This is a war on women!

We're going to have to do a study on why you are so affected with white male privilege, and develop sensitivity training so that you will understand why Wicked needs your money more than you!

That will be another $1,000 Mr. Mark.

There were quite a lot of articles on this, but I thought this was pretty funny.

Good luck.

The degree of religious contribution is important, because a 2007 study by Indiana University found that only 10% to 25% of church donations end up being spent on social welfare purposes, duh, no sh&&t: of which assistance to the poor is only a subset. In other words, if you think of "giving" as "giving to the poor," a lot of the money donated by conservatives may be missing the target.

An extreme case may have been that of Mitt Romney, whose tax disclosures during his 2012 presidential campaign indicated that he gave a higher percentage of his income away than his Democratic opponent, President Obama, 29.4% to 21.8%. Of course he was richer, so he gave away a lot more dollars. But fully 80% of Romney's donations went to the Mormon church; and a large further chunk went to a family foundation that also funneled much of it to the church.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Work, I believe you've out done yourself- Mr. Mark, this is something to really think about, because it's a very good analogy-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Freebyrd, where was that posted? I hope the poster got iced-

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Mr Mark! Wicked is still waiting for her money! She a MINORITY Mr. Mark. Only 50% of the world is female. Duh. This is a war on women!

I don't think it is just minorities wanting money. And no, I am not a minority. I am college educated and I paid entirely for my entire college education. I also had three children while going to college. I never took a dime from the government. I paved my own way to success as did my husband. But, I don't deny others the right to get a hand up while they are trying to improve their own situation. And that is the key word....improve....their situation. I'm not ok with people living on the dole unless they are elderly, disabled, or temporarily unemployed. Can we all agree that these three groups of people need our help?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

?I also had three children while going to college.

So thats where children come from.

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Yep, paid for at 9 percent interest over 18 years :)

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

and as I expected, no one wants to answer my question because no one here, really wants to agree on anything. Typical.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

(Wicked, I was not implying that you are on any assistance, I was only trying to further my joke that I was giving you Mr. Mark's money. I specifically used you because you are female and I wanted to get in the war on women bit. The minority part I was joking about was being female, which was particularly tongue in cheek because females aren't a minority. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear.)

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Btw, I am now accepting PMs from lobbyists who want more of Mr. Mark's money. I will determine if your group would use his money in a way that benefits the greater good (as I see it.) You help me stay in control of his money and I will remember you when it is time to dole it out. He has made enough money from his music career! It is time to share the wealth! After all, he didn't build that!

Lord Cheezus DeSufferbus --- 10 years ago -

Every time I make a post pointing out a societal wrong. I am mocked and ridiculed as being out of touch or liberal and how the system is fine as it is.

No, you're usually mocked for being ignorant and semi-literate.

Dave M --- 10 years ago -

I can't tell if this thread is for real or not.

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

My GAWD.....

Butterbean --- 10 years ago -

My GAWD.....

Amen.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

LOL!!

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Mr. Mark, my constituents are reporting that you are being weird about keeping your money and not paying for the things they want, so I've organized a protest against your greedy capitalism.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

This is just what i needed, a vey hearty laugh. Wip is killing it!

mutton --- 10 years ago -

I am not a lobbyist, just want my fair share of that money...

Wicked --- 10 years ago -

Mutton. Maybe you are Walmart and pay your employees so little that they have to set up a grocery bin in the store at Christmas so people can donate groceries to the employees. And 80 percent of your employees get welfare of some form. Oh, but that is ok but who am I to complain. I'm just the taxpayer who subsidizes your business practice.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

I'm just the taxpayer who subsidizes your business practice.?

Like Solyndra, General Motors, AIG, et.al. Walmarts average wage is slightly over 12/hr.
