Should we, or shouldn't we, send in US ground troops to combat ISIS / ISIL?

Should we put combat troops on the ground, or is what the US doing, keeping them in check?

I honestly do not know.

I'm just curious what y'all think ...

I dont see where a single one of those SOBs is worth one single American life. They are happy for us to spend our money and lives for their future but are unwilling to do the same.

On the other hand, the oil fields of Iraq must not be allowed to fall into the hands of Iranian controlled groups.

We shouldn't

I agree 100% with that ...

Gotta keep the war machine rolling and the tax dollars flowing. ISIS is the new boogeyman.

Butterbean --- 10 years ago -

No.

Barnstormer --- 10 years ago -

Several months back, the Saudi's said they would finance it if we come back. I say they can send their own sons now.

Are we great again yet --- 10 years ago -

Just send a total of 5. Lindsay graham, john mc cain, dick cheney, kelly ayotte and bill krystol. Load em up and ship em out

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 10 years ago -

Just send bombs.

witchywoman --- 10 years ago -

No more lives!

It's now or later. Easier to destroy the wasp nest when it is just being built.

Or we could wait 10 years after they have taken over Iraq, have 500k man army and Iranian supplied nukes.

Max, send your kids.

It's a really good question, and it has two negative outcomes, and we have to figure out which one is LEAST negative. Not the choice we want to make.

Several things to think about:

1. What is the responsibility of the world superpower in the face of such unmitigated evil?
2. What price, in terms of our own people and finances and standard of living are we willing to pay in order to fight such evil?
3. Can we expect a favorable outcome? Will it stop the evil? Will it have a different outcome? Will it exacerbate present problems in the Middle East?
4. Is doing nothing valid? Will that lead to more or less favorable outcome? Will ISIS continue to grow, or will it collapse under the weight of its own destructiveness? Will other countries step it to stop it? Are those countries our allies? Would they work with us or against us?
5. And possibly the biggest. If we refuse to fight them there, will they bring the fight to us?

And billions more questions. I don't envy our leaders in this. I personally think we should act, due to the absolute wickedness of what is happening to innocents. I do understand, however, why people do not want their family sacrificed to deal with the problems in a region that creates its own drama, and always will.

Use drones not men.

KILL all of them. Kill their families, kill their sheep, kill their friends, their kids (which are baby terrorists) kill em all. Give them a one way fiery ticket to Allah Land. Only when that is done, they are done.

Joe Blow --- 10 years ago -

Kill their kids? I bet you're anti abortion also.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got a "Townhall meeting" phone call from Rep. Ted Poe. He asked a (yes or no) question. Before going on to the next question he would give the percentage of yes vs no from his previous question. One of his questions was about the U.S. and Isis. To paraphrase; his question was : Should the US Stop ISIS? as if we haven't already been there and done that.

Needless to say but I ranked low on his yes or no questioning. I pressed *3 to ask a question, his staff came on and asked me what it was. I told her "War on Drugs", she said thanks and to please keep on the line. 35mins later and the good congressman says "Well thats all the time we have folks" bla bla bla. But twice. I heard 2 "Bob's" from Kingwood ask questions.

With respect to ISIS, no, we haven't "already been there and done that" ...

Imagine that ...
