Matt Damon Explains Why He?s Moving to Asheville, North Carolina


ASHEVILLE, North Carolina ? In a big surprise to everyone in Los Angeles, Hollywood actor Matt Damon reveals in a new interview that he is moving to the Asheville, North Carolina area. He tells the magazine that he is ?tired of the L.A. lifestyle? and is looking for a big change in life.

?I?m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and the fake people, honestly, and I feel like, at this point in my life, I?d rather just live in a place full of real, genuine people. I?ve been to Asheville a few times over the years and the people there are real? they?re genuine, and yeah every community has its problems but the people there are good, decent people and they care about their community. Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live,? Damon told the magazine.

?I?m not retiring, I?m just looking for a change in life and I think I?ve found that in Asheville,? Damon reassured fans. 

They'll finally have something else to put on their welcome sign now instead of just the 2011 NCHSAA women's class 3A softball champs. 

Asheville, NC I my birthplace and my hometown for the first 28 years of my life That is probably why he is moving.lol

Has nothing to do with the fact that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. 

good for him. it's a sign the superficiality of that life has made whats really important more clear. 

I just read about Damon moving to three different cities. It's all a ruse. Check Snopes.

I have heard that Ashville and the western mountains of NC are a great area. The wife wants to move there eventually. I wouldn't mind visiting since I've never been. 

Anyone know what the traffic and pollution are like? 

We visited there .... didn't see much traffic except for the standard downtown stuff. No pollution. Beautiful countryside. Lots of historical sights to see, and Smoky Mountains not far away. 

The same site said Ben Affleck is moving to Beaumont for the same exact reasons.

I lived in North Carolina for 6 years.
I can tell you anywhere around a military town is disgusting - nothing but strip clubs and tattoo shops for miles.

As far as the beauty is concerned, I would take Virginia over NC any day. Some of the most incredible countryside, especially around the more horse related areas.

I once had to go to VA to pick up some horses; fox hunting is really big there. We went to some barns and property where Jackie Kennedy rode in the Middleburg area.

Robert Duvall owns a farm in Middleburg, VA too and is a supporter of the local fox hunting scene.

North Carolina looks the same as the Big Thicket part of Texas but with a few hills. 

NC also has trained - and courteous PU Truck drivers...lol 

NC has the slowest talkers on the planet. You will finish their sentences for them to keep your sanity.

San Antonio is a heavy military city. I don't find the description matches my experience. I think it's a lovely, welcoming place.
