Anyone serve on a board or have served on a board?
I have a question, how do you decide what rules your going to enforce and when?
Example, I have lived here for going on 11 years and I have a table in my driveway that's been there since I moved in. Guess what I got in the mail. Yes you are correct a letter saying it needs to be moved.
So, what changed that now it needs moved? Same neighbor for 5 plus years. We sit around this table many nights solving the worlds problems and discussing each other's lives. We are in a cul de sac.

Solution, move it over onto your lawn. You can place it on top of pavers or simply put it on the grass.

Yeah, move it. I always thought it was weird how Texans love to put furniture in their front yard. btw Been a Guest-Texan for 39 years.

In answer to why the table in front yard. So many people hide out in the fenced in back yard or house and don't even know their neighbors. We have celebrated and cried around that table this past ten years. Of the 18 houses on our street we know 10 neighbors. Total strangers just 5 years ago and one neighbor asked my wife and I to be godparents. We all look out for each other. If we hadn't been sitting out front we probably wouldn't know a soul. That aside my complaint is why 10 years later it doesn't belong?

It's possible you have just been under their radar. Or, someone might have recently complained about it to them, forcing their hand to act.

I have a table in my driveway that's been there since I moved in.

I do not believe there is a rule against having a patio set on the driveway or in the front yard. I would call the HOA and ask them to sight the regulation for you.

You either have a a new and overzealous board member or someone complained. You are right, it's good to sit in the front yard. You get to know your neighbors and it also cuts down on crime.

I have had several run ins with Elm Grove HOA. As well I have a friend on the board. The board members will tell you that it is not them that is submitting and citing these letters. It is a separate contracted company that comes out, monitors and letters us.
Now if the matters need to go to an attorney then the board votes to proceed or not. Elm Groves HOA is the worst with not being consistent.
