It was a very moving service I attended on the streets of Montrose. Many lives were changed.

Very moving video. Great job of putting it together!!

Wonderful!

Please. Religion is nothing more than emotional manipulation. It's all about the feels.

True Christianity is knowing what is in the Bible and living by it. That's it.
No back-slapping feel-good event or incident. Even the Bible said just live a quiet but obedient life. I don't see any service or church talk about that anymore. It's all "look at me praying!"

It's not people a sinner should depend on. It's the Bible.

Are you saying that Christians should feel nothing?

RayofHope --- 8 years ago -

It is a little strange to say Christian people cannot be emotional, especially since Jesus showed emotion.

(Jesus shed tears) is a phrase famous for being the shortest verse in the Bible. It is found in the Gospel of John, chapter 11, verse 35.

Inspiring. I love the idea of providing haircuts.

I do wish more was done to address the mental illness so many homeless people are suffering from. We can feed the belly, and the soul but if the brain is ill , it is not going to get most of them off the streets. That is a very huge challenge but thank you to all who reached out to these folks.

off topic, but a bit confused.
Aren't Rayofhope and Jimbecka same poster?

What ? How does that translate to people reaching out to their fellow man and putting their faith in action?

idontplaynice --- 8 years ago -

Feelings won't save you, if what I'm reading in the Bible is true.

idontplaynice --- 8 years ago -

Faith in action? More like attention grabbing.

Why don't you do good for people but in a way nobody knows that it's you. Oh wait, where's the payoff in that?

Good comment. Most people hide out in their church and avoid contact with people in need.

Do you pay attention to what you're writing? So, you are implying that other Christians avoid contact with street people. It is a subtle way of elevating yourself while putting others down at the same time.

When are Christians going to stop trying to "out-holy" other Christians?

Maybe they don't reach out to street people because they're busy managing the affairs of their own families or churches, or busy working, or busy supporting missionaries in other countries. Or maybe they just don't care. In any case, it is not you to say they are actively avoiding street people, you can't even speak for "most" Christians.

Just do your thing with the street ministry if that is your calling. Make sure you're doing it for the right reasons though. Otherwise you're just wasting your time with God (no credit points racked up in heaven).

They do. Out of site, out of mind.

Yeah, but a lot of people who go to churches are raised in middle-class homes with no prior experience with street people. And frankly, it's outside of their comfort zone.

I have met street people. They keep panhandling me when I used to work downtown. It made me really uncomfortable. I was afraid if I turned my back on them they would knife me for not giving them money.

So, you can't judge people for not going out of their way to be around street people. Some may be okay, some may be down on their luck. But some may be drug addicts, and some may be dangerous.

It warms my heart to see this service being provided. No prejudice no judgement just people coming together with commonality for the belief of Jesus Christ. Great job putting together this video and thank you for sharing. Wished main stream media would focus more on this type of unity.
