- 'A very frightening time' -

Men's fears have "a rational basis," insisted attorney Andrew Miltenberg, who told AFP he has defended "hundreds" of young men from allegations of sexual abuse, most of them arising in university settings.

"In most cases -- not all -- women are seeking revenge on ex-boyfriends or young men they found have played around too much," he said, adding that "it's very difficult for young men to get a fair opportunity to be heard."

"It's a very frightening time" for men, Miltenberg continued. "I don't really believe you can be alone in a room with a young woman now in this climate," at a time when such allegations can "destroy" a man's life and career.

Utterly ridiculous.

Men just can't stand to be held accountable for their actions. Ever.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Men are more likely to hold other men accountable for their actions than women are to hold other women accountable.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 4 years ago -

I think it's because men know other men probably did it! LOL!

The Awe Inspiring JoelleDrees (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

Complete and total bs.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Complete and total bs.

I guess you've never been a man in corporate America and falsely accused.

I guess you've never been a Federal Appeals Court judge and falsely accused.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

And I guess you?ve never had an interview with Bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein. LOL

I read an article saying men who can?t bring themselves to acknowledge the harassment and assault issues, are feeling alarmed at the loss of ?tribal power? men are feeling. It?s all about the power. That?s why saying women are the problem is laughable.

The Awe Inspiring JoelleDrees (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

Yes, lets talk about how hard men have it. How scared men should be. Lets talk about how men are taught from a young age how to protect themselves from rape. Lets talk about how men are catcalled in the street and told that smiling will make them look prettier. Lets talk about how men are constantly propositioned for sex no matter where they are, at work, in the grocery store, walking down the street. Lets talk about how men get called horrible names when they think a friendship with a woman is just friendship and not a prelude to sex. Lets talk about how men are treated disrespectfully or patronizingly every time they open their mouths to speak in a professional setting. Lets talk about how men are expected to trade sex for movie or television roles. Lets talk about how men are raised knowing that they have to watch how they dress, how the smile, how they walk to their cars, how much they drink, to count their sexual partners and keep them at a socially acceptable level, to never rise above their station. Lets talk about how men are ridiculed for speaking their minds. Lets talk about how men have to be silent victims because if they speak out they receive death threats and their entire lives go on display. Lets talk about that.

Oh wait, men don't have to worry about stuff like that. That's women.

Yep.

Let's talk about that.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Lets be clear about this. We are NOT talking about illegal activities such as sexual assault and rape.

Lets talk about how men are treated disrespectfully or patronizingly every time they open their mouths to speak in a professional setting.

I don't know what world you live in (its clearly the hate men world) but that does not happen in a corporate setting or the man would find himself out the door.

Lets talk about how men are falsely accused every day in corporate America by vindictive, lying women out for a pay day or just out to destroy a mans career and family (which includes his daughters and wife) because they are jealous of the position he holds.

Lets talk about the women who make sexual overtures in the work place and when the man rejects the overture, she complains to HR and tries to destroy him.

Lets talk about the consensual sexual relationship that develops between coworkers and then the woman denies that its consensual and complains to HR because company practice is to write a check so she goes away.

Lets also understand, that cat calls and like behavior are rude and true gentlemen don't engage in that behavior.

Lets talk about how men are expected to trade sex for movie or television roles.

Lets talk about how women use sex as a power play both inside and external to a marriage, relationship or professional setting.

Lets talk about how men are raised knowing that they have to watch how they dress, how the smile, how they walk to their cars, how much they drink, to count their sexual partners and keep them at a socially acceptable level, to never rise above their station

We are raised to know how to dress appropriately for the situation. Gentlemen also control their drinking habits and how many sexual partners a person has had is no ones business and should be kept private. I don't know who raised you but, if a person raises any child not to "rise above their station" they are bad parents.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

That?s why saying women are the problem is laughable.

Who said that?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

You did. read the title. If men are the real victims, that only leaves women as the problem right?

#MensTribalPower

Prolix Raconteur --- 4 years ago -

It's not that one dimensional. Women are certainly victims of assault, but men being falsely accused are victims as well. In the current climate, men are assumed guilty based solely on an accusation.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Exactly.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

You did. read the title. If men are the real victims, that only leaves women as the problem right?

It says "Men AS the real victims?" Notice the question mark. Its asking a question in the post Kavanaugh era.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

Kavanaugh era? It?s only been 15 minutes!

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Seems like a really long time.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 4 years ago -

You're killin' me, Emp! You're determined to make men look victimized! LOL!

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

The truth is men ARE victims of false allegations and buyers remorse much more frequently than you want to admit.

jackass --- 4 years ago -

I guess you've never been a man in corporate America

And neither have you.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

You're determined to make men look victimized!

Are you trying to say that Kavanaugh was not victimized by baseless allegations?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 4 years ago -

I'm not talking about Kavanaugh, although I believe she believed what she was saying, I'm talking about you always making excuses for what men do- NOT rape, the nuances in the work place-

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

you always making excuses for what men

Such as?

sdanielmcev --- 4 years ago -

I don't mind being a sex object.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 4 years ago -

"You are always making excuses for men"

Emperor of Kingwood
"Such as"

She means like blaming the casting couch on women bc they have a vagina.

Days ago - quote
Emperor of Kingwood:
I agree that its corrupt and immoral and a gross misuse of power.

As long as women have something men want (you know what that is) and women are the gate keepers (as they should be over their bodies), that's also power. Power will get abused. Read the story of King David and the lessons learned about power. Seems there's a constant power struggle between men and women."

Being born a woman isn't more inherently powerful bc men were born with penises. Men have POWER to control employment, not the same thing by any means. Your comment suggests Women have power over their bodies but men don't?? You are also suggesting men don't/won't have the ability to control themselves so they leverage their power in other ways bc THEY CAN or what??

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

She means like blaming the casting couch on women bc they have a vagina.

I never said that.

Men have POWER to control employment,

So do women.

Your comment suggests Women have power over their bodies but men don't??

My comment suggests nothing of the sort unless you read it with a bias.

You are also suggesting men don't/won't have the ability to control themselves so they leverage their power in other ways bc THEY CAN or what??

I never suggested that either.

You seem to see this issue as only one sided where women are perpetual victims of evil powerful me. However, you fail to see the other side of the coin which we all saw during the Kavanugh hearing. All I'm pointing out is that this issue is not one sided, women use it to their advantage as much as men.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 4 years ago -

Just because there was no proof, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

What it means is that Kavanaugh is innocent of any wrong doing that he was alleged to have committed.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 4 years ago -

He wasn't proved innocent, and he wasn't proved guilty. Big difference.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

No, it means that there was no proof either way of what happened. The issue was there was no proof, not that he didn't do it.

Men have the power bc they have the positions of power the vast majority of the time. Of course false allegations exist but there isn't a rash of that problem. There's a rash of harassment and assault. Just look at the men who have admitted it.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Our bed rock core societal and legal principle is innocent until proven guilty. So, by applying our principles, he's innocent.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 4 years ago -

Of course false allegations exist but there isn't a rash of that problem.

You say that, because you don't hear of it. I'm telling you because I see it from time to time it exist more often that you think it does. Having said that, I'm sure sexual assault from men towards women happens more frequently than reported for a variety of reasons.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 4 years ago -

Then so is OJ Simpson.
