^^ case in point.

sdanielmcev --- 3 years ago -

We really need a facepalm emoji on here.

sdanielmcev --- 3 years ago -

I guess the selling of a book has nothing to do with this specious conclusion.

sdanielmcev --- 3 years ago -

Obviously fuzz didn't read these abstracts. Because they disprove his original accusation.

Here’s a quote:

First, intelligent people are less likely to conform and, thus, are more likely to resist religious dogma. Second, intelligent people tend to adopt an analytic (as opposed to intuitive) thinking style, which has been shown to undermine religious beliefs. Third, several functions of religiosity, including compensatory control, self-regulation, self-enhancement, and secure attachment, are also conferred by intelligence. Intelligent people may therefore have less need for religious beliefs and practices.

fuzz81 --- 3 years ago -

It’s also clearly stated in the first sentence:

A meta-analysis of 63 studies showed a significant negative association between intelligence and religiosity.

Which does not support your hypothesis that atheists have a higher IQ

SodaPopAndRitalin --- 3 years ago -

They definitely are more open minded and less apt to conform and be brainwashed.

The article does not agree with you.

SodaPopAndRitalin --- 3 years ago -

The article does not agree with you.

lmao it literally does

Whether intelligence causes people to reject religious belief is more complex. It is certainly plausible that highly intelligent people would have a problem accepting some of the more improbable beliefs required by their church

^ brainwashing

Trump is autographing bibles for the Alabama tornado victims.

Trump is god to them.

sdanielmcev --- 3 years ago -

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." So said Albert Einstein, and his famous aphorism

Jepperd --- 3 years ago -

I like this one "The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."

Judas --- 3 years ago -

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

t is certainly plausible that highly intelligent people would have a problem accepting some of the more improbable beliefs required by their church

What about the improbable beliefs required of their political cult?

Do intelligent people fall for that too? Bet I can guess - it’s the other party that’s the cult. Yours is just fine.

small handed cheetoh --- 3 years ago -

I despise religion. I hate church. I fool the pro-lifers. I am an atheist. I have a high IQ. Thank you for proving it with this post topic.
