Valentine --- 18 years ago -

So I'm craving fried chicken . Anyone tried the new Church's Chicken on Northpark?

cowboyswife --- 18 years ago -

Nope, but I have wondered the same thing. Its been sounding yummy to me too, and we never eat it, lol...

Deltadawn --- 18 years ago -

Yes, and it was pretty good. Nothing ever tastes as good a homemade, but I think we got our money's worth.

Valentine --- 18 years ago -

mmmm... maybe we'll have that for dinner. Do they have a drive thru?? I'm gonna have to load up all three kids for this chicken, it better be good!

cowboyswife --- 18 years ago -

Hows the little one doing Valentine??

Deltadawn --- 18 years ago -

Go early if you can - they are still a little slow. I'm not sure about a drive through, DH went and picked it up.

Bubbles --- 18 years ago -

Do they have a drive thru?? Yes! And it's soooo good that I can ask my son do you want hamburger or chicken and he says "chick-in". He's just 2. Church's is the best fried chicken! Love them biscuits too!

Ladybug --- 18 years ago -

It was VERY good! We ordered the spicey and loved it!

Valentine --- 18 years ago -

Hows the little one doing Valentine?? We actually went back to the e.r. on Sat night. They admitted him again, did breathing treatments and monitored his breathing. I cried on the way home yesterday because I was afraid to take him home, but thankfully, today he seems better. Let's just hope he really is on the up and up this time. Docs say he must have started to get over the RSV/ bronchiolitis and then caught another cold/ bronchiolitis. ugh...

JDB2 --- 18 years ago -

it is good and the biscuits are good. We went last night and they forgot to put the prizes in for my kids meals....not a good thing! Also, I didn't think the spicy chicken was flavored well. The seasoning seemed to just be gathered between the skin and the breading. Popeyes spicy is much better in my opinion.

mocha_mama --- 18 years ago -

Yuck, I hate Church's. Their chicken always leaves a nasty after taste and the wings look like they have little people attached to them. LOL!!! If you want good fried chicken, come over here and I'll make you some. Actually the best fried chicken is Frenchy's in the hood...then, Popeye's or Hartz. Hartz has the best rolls. Okay, I guess I love chicken, huh?

cowboyswife --- 18 years ago -

Well he is in my prayers!! Been there, done that with my little guy, I know how frustrating it is!!

Valentine --- 18 years ago -

Thanks, cw. Now, off to load up a pile of kids and get some chicken- at Mocha's house!! (kidding, you did offer though, didn't you??!)

Ladybug --- 18 years ago -

the wings look like they have little people attached to them. LOL!!! Thats part of the breast attached to the wings!! Gawd, I hope!!! lol

Fallon --- 18 years ago -

Where in the heck is Churches on Northpark? Help here, DH will be happy. Not as good as Popeyes, but it is closer!

Bubbles --- 18 years ago -

I would love to taste your chicken mocha-mama, you should make us all some and charge $5 a plate! Church's is next to the new gas station. I think the tanning place is in there. At the front of Kingwood.

Fallon --- 18 years ago -

Oh! No wonder I have not seen it. I wish it were Popeyes... but this is better than KFC:)

Bubbles --- 18 years ago -

I love Popeye's spicy and their beans-n-rice.

Valentine --- 18 years ago -

OK, we had Church's for dinner. Did the drive-thru about 5pm with no line. Ordered a 10 pc. family meal with all white meat and 2 sides- spent $20 and ended up with WAY more food than our family of 2 adults, 2 toddlers and a baby could possibly eat. The spicy chicken was okay, not great, but the original was GREAT. Mashed potatoes were good, mac and cheese kind of gross and biscuits were okay, not as bad as KFC and not as good as Popeye's. Service was okay. Food was hot and fresh. There's my review!

mocha_mama --- 18 years ago -

I sitll say ICK!!! Hmmmm, Bubbles, you may be onto something there. Mocha, I have been to the one off of Waco lol. You sure are an adventurous one aren't you?

Steve, have you ever eaten at Adrian's over by Wheatley HS? They're burgers are awesome!!! They're oxtails are really good too. I'm not sure if it's still opened, though.

Sandyr9111 --- 18 years ago -

Where in the heck is Churches on Northpark? Fallon: corner of Northpark and Russell Palmer.

mocha_mama --- 18 years ago -

Nope I haven't eaten there but I do go to Alamo Taco at Jensen and canal, Ninfas, Mucho Mexico and Charlies Hamburgers. I will check out Adrian's if you recommend it! I have never heard of any of those places. Adrian's is really good but like I said I'm not sure they're still there. I almost forgot about Burt's Meat Market on Lyons in Denver Harbor. Now that's where you need to go. DH goes quite often for lunch...but do you think he brings me any boudin...NOOOOO!!! LOL. They're food is really good. You really should try it.

Mygirl01 --- 18 years ago -

Churches has THE BEST fried okra I second that, it is WONDERFULL

Ladybug --- 18 years ago -

Otto's Hamburgers and BBQ on Memorial is really good too. Great burgers! Steve, Lockwood Inn, is that the BBQ place?

Ladybug --- 18 years ago -

I think thats the place my family used to go to. THE BEST BBQ!!! And I remember how good it smelled just to walk in! Ribs falling off the bone and melting in your mouth! MMMMMMMM!!!

TRose --- 18 years ago -

I've heard of Frenchy's. Isn't it down by UofH????

Texvette --- 8 years ago -

Looks like they closed

whatchamacallit --- 8 years ago -

Not surprised, every time I went there (3 times), there was a problem, once got a green drumstick, once waited in drive thru for over 20 minutes only to have them tell me no they did not have items to complete my order, and the last time they gave me the wrong order completely. Never went back again, third time is a charm! lol

DVaz --- 8 years ago -

What about Chicken Express? Anyone like it?

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Has good fried fish.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 8 years ago -

It closed? It wasn't very good, ok in a pinch, very eh. KFC has nothing to worry about. Lol

DVaz --- 8 years ago -

Has good fried fish.?

Thanks Butterbean. How about those hush puppies I've heard about? Also, are the Chicken Strips any good? I doubt they are free range. Still tasty?

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Haven't had chicken strips. My interest is in the fish. First experienced it in the Dallas area. There's one in Livingston now and places that are too far for me to casually go.

ShookUpRamen --- 8 years ago -

The Popeye's a few blocks away probably did them in. None of that complex at NP and 494 existed 9 years ago.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

When we lived in Louisiana you knew you were in a bad neighborhood when there was a Church's and a good neighborhood when they had a Popeye's.
