I think you're sitting next to me at the Starbucks at Green Oaks right now. Not sure. However, if I'm wrong, sorry for the assumption.

I usually introduce myself. So much Biblical talk, I'm not sure if they're calling you John, or referring to the Apostle John.

BTW, if it is you... I agree. Lynchmob seems like a suitable football name.

elle --- 13 years ago -

I looked for the 'like' button. =]

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

Quick come here, lets sing him a song.

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

This is almost def. him.

TinktheSprite --- 13 years ago -

Say something??

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

You think I could get him to sign my Bible? It's in the car..

Bornanraisedkw --- 13 years ago -

It's rude to call any poster out on a thread.

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

I'm not calling anyone out.. Calling them out is typically in reference to debunking nonsense to the extent that it causes shame.. That's most certainly not what I'm trying to do, at least right now. I've tried to meet John Lynch on numerous occasions. I'm not 100% sure this guy is him, but my evesdropping skills are ... well ... almost divine.

ExLady In Blue --- 13 years ago -

Well the good thing is you're listening. Maybe some day it will all soak in and you can see the error of your ways.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 13 years ago -

Evan, this is how I got iced-be careful-very tricky heading a thread with a name, let alone the rest-tread carefully-

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

He's with three other guys anyway, and I've got flip flops. The other three sound *exactly* like John Lynch. I can confirm he is not one of a kind. If this isn't him there are at least four others that share his opinions.

MandyPants --- 13 years ago -

That's too funny!

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

I'm not bashing John. I'm just out making a bold prediction. =) Who knows if I'm right. It's all in fun.

ladybeachbum --- 13 years ago -

It would almost be worth getting dressed and going back out to come and help you check! Almost...but not!

TinktheSprite --- 13 years ago -

No, you are not bashing or calling him out.

TexasOma --- 13 years ago -

Who knows if I'm right. It's all in fun.

At the expense of another. How is that 'all in fun'?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 13 years ago -

nothing regarding John is in fun-you'll get the full Mod choke out if you're not careful-

MandyPants --- 13 years ago -

ladybeachbum --- 13 years ago -

He has said nothing that is offensive. He just wants to say hello if it is him.
I'm guessing.

TexasOma --- 13 years ago -

No --- he's trying to stalk the man. So what if someone is sitting in Starbucks and talking of the Bible --- leave the person alone. Evan doesn't believe in the Bible anyway --- so that says he's just calling JL out....sorta like a bully calling out someone he's set his eyes on to pick on.

Bornanraisedkw --- 13 years ago -

It's still not right.

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

I think you're being slightly over-sensitive if you think that being the subject of a "I think I might be in the presence of"... is deserving of "expense". As if this cost him anything. John Lynch, as far I know, would not be bothered if I identified him with whomever is taking part in this conversation. He'd probably be honored that his impression is so lasting that this conversation is inextricably associated with his online persona.

And, think about the subtle flattery if I call it right. I identified someone in real life simply from their conversations online -- that's how much attention I pay.

ladybeachbum --- 13 years ago -

Really? I didn't take his post like that at all? I know Evan's thoughts but I took it he was trying to get John to say if that was him. Sort of like seeing a KUer in Kroger and wanting to ask if it is them but afraid you are wrong.

TinktheSprite --- 13 years ago -

No different than other threads that said "I saw you at HEB, I recognized your picture".

Freckles00 --- 13 years ago -

Get over it geez. Johnlynch can fling insults just as well as anyone else (and does so frequently) I'm pretty sure he's not going to go cry in a corner because someone from a messag boar that he posts on all the time thinks he might be sitting next to him.

He's a big boy, if he's offended by this post he can get on a say so.

I didn't see any of you get all uppity when JL says awful things to other posters but you get all peeved at this? Give me a break.

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

No, I struck out. Nice guy anyway. That was fun. Oh well. One day Mr. Lynch, I'll hopefully get the chance to meet you and have a casual conversation.

I got a hand shake out of the deal. =) His friend validated that he wasn't John Lynch. Case closed.

MandyPants --- 13 years ago -

Oh please. JL is very controversial on this board, and people are curious. Evan means no harm. How is randomly sitting next to someone you think you may know stalking?? Ridonkey.

OH SNAP --- 13 years ago -

Threads pop up all the time where someone says they think they saw someone out somewhere. Evan may want to clarify his lynchmob statement, although I'm pretty sure he just meant that the person he's looking at looks big enough to play football.

That might be so if it were anyone but JL.

Most everyone of you thrill at battling with him every chance you get. Evan doesn't like him, in fact is the complete antithesis of JL, why would he have any interest in meeting JL other than to brag to all of you that I met the guy & rag on JL some more.

I don't agree with how JL spreads Christianity, but at least he has a position and sticks with it. He is strong in his faith and I have no doubt that he will be in heaven way before me.

Just leave the guy alone.

Evan Carroll --- 13 years ago -

Yea, John Lynch was originally Lynchmob, he got the name from a friend on a football field. The name would have been fitting if this was that guy. He was hearty -- that is all..

Why do you have to make it more complex than simply shaking hands like gentlemen and having the novel experience of having a chance encounter at a Starbucks without as much of an introduction.. Seriously the paranoid presumption of bad-faith is a little much at 10:30 PM.

Freckles00 --- 13 years ago -

Just leave the guy alone.

Because he leaves all us "heathens" alone? And even rags on his fellow Christians. Lol

ladybeachbum --- 13 years ago -

Oma, John gets what he dishes. But whatever...

Oma, John gets what he dishes. But whatever...

I would never wish that upon him. ;)

[i"]I think you're being slightly over-sensitive if you think that being the subject of a "I think I might be in the presence of"... is deserving of "expense"."

Not exactly shattering stereotypes of the liberals' keen sense of superiority - Say or do anything you want, if someone thinks it's wrong, it's because they're ignorant, ridiculous, overly sensitive.

And, please, throwing in a few comments about wanting to shake his hand does not convince anyone you're not acting at his expense.

"As if this cost him anything. John Lynch, as far I know, would not be bothered if I identified him with whomever is taking part in this conversation. "

Why don't we let John Lynch decide this? You know what the costs to John Lynch would be? You get to make the choice of whether he gets identified? Do you get that, if none of our posters perceived a cost to themselves, they would all reveal their identities?

"He'd probably be honored that his impression is so lasting that this conversation is inextricably associated with his online persona."

Sounds like you may be a little defensive - maybe concerned someone will wonder why you're eavesdropping? Hoping your tone won't appear as critical as it might to those who have an idea how some of you feel about this guy?

"And, think about the subtle flattery if I call it right. I identified someone in real life simply from their conversations online -- that's how much attention I pay." [/i]

I don't think you're directing the "subtle flattery" toward JL here.

I've been out in public wondering whether someone I see is on KU, too, and I definitely can understand the excitement about sharing the "discovery," but impo it's important not to "out" somebody without their consent. It's not your choice to make.

LitlJay --- 13 years ago -

I quite like everything ladyjane had to say there!

For the record, though:

I will never say anything on any internet forum or discussion board that I am not willing to look someone in the eye and say. This has been my policy going back as far as these types of forums have existed. I have, on more than one occasion, posted my home address when someone challenged that policy. One coward even used the info to hire a P.I. to come harass me on his behalf.

Keep that in mind if anyone decides they want to "out" me.

TexasOma --- 13 years ago -

These cowards have been known to call the employer of a poster and almost get her fired, simply because they didn't like her.

They have posterd pictures of others with a drink in their hand & advising them of being a lush....to this day even & that post obliterated several months ago.

They dog others they don't like, just because they can....like a pack of wild dingos on the prowl.

But most regulars have become numb to them or tired of their bullying behavior & left completely. This use to be a friendly & active board.

In AbsentiaW --- 13 years ago -

It's a bit ironic that this phrase was used in relation to identifying JW.

it's important not to "out" somebody without their consent.

considering his stand on homosexuality

People who don't want to be identified don't use their first and last names as their username. ;-)
