STATUS: Package delayed
SHIP CARRIER: UPS
TRACKING ID: \
LATEST EVENT: Houston TX
Package arrived at a carrier facility - December 23, 2013 10:23:00 PM

wtf?? 3 of my packages say this. why can't it say where in houston? why can't it say when to expect delivery?

also, i have another 2 packages that say delivered, when in fact they have NOT been delivered!

ugh. houston we have a problem.

Valentine --- 11 years ago -

... come to realize just now, i never got USPS mail today.???

Sangria --- 11 years ago -

Me either!

johnsonda6 --- 11 years ago -

Same boat here as well I been expecting a package since the 20th an still hasn't arrived. Guess tomorrow I will ask my neighbor if they will check their box tomorrow seems like all my packages go to their home an there is always someone at my house day an night so there should be no reason for my mail to be going to my neighbors box. Which my neighbor always brings me any of my mail that gets placed in there box. Thank God we have such an honest neighbor... For as the mail delivery ups or usps both need to shape up on deliveries this is getting old fast..

Valentine --- 11 years ago -

after doing further research (going to the ups website), i see two of my packages have no tracking info since sunday and both were due here on monday. this is so aggravating. i ordered in plenty of time to get these things- now i may be stuck going shopping tomorrow (with kids home and no sitter, don't know how that could happen).

johnsonda6 --- 11 years ago -

Same boat here I was supposed to receive all my stuff on the 20th an my neighbor has been bringing me my packages an like I said there is always someone home so they are just not doing their job..

Sangria --- 11 years ago -

I remember our mail carrier was still out delivering mail at 11:30PM last Christmas Eve. I felt bad for him because I'm sure he'd have preferred being at home with his family. However, like I said, we did not even get mail on our street today.

We finally called Amazon about our 4 items that were 15 days over due. They resent the order and it arrived the next day. BUT they charged us? ? I realize there was a snow storm that really messed up all deliveries. I'm still waiting for my red shoes that were sent out on the 5th. But UPS,USPS ,Ulta, and Amazon are not handling it very well at all. There are no status updates at all. And that surprises me. Kudos to Target and Kohl's shipping. They kept me abreast about the delayed package.

MiaBella Farm --- 11 years ago -

Yep hubby has been waiting on something for one of our boys...was supposed to be here on Friday, then changed to yesterday, now it says by end of day today...

I have something for myself coming that was also supposed to be here on Friday, then yesterday now the day after Christmas...good thing it is not a gift!

It's UPS, not the retailers or even USPS. UPS is sitting on packages and delaying them because of "emergency situation out of their control" (aka: they don't have enough staff to deliver the holiday packages). In some cases they are sending them on to USPS so that they take the blame or they are blaming the retailer. Even overnight deliveries are not being delivered. They are taking the money knowing full well that they already have more packages than they can deliver.

Something tells me that Amazon as well as other retailers are going to think twice about contracting with UPS for a good long time.

I've always had excellent service with Amazon. I even was told to keep a working Kurig coffee machine because it was a kitchen item they couldn't take back and they fully refunded for me. The description was a bit confusing and I meant to order a different model, and I was trying to exchange it. They've been most helpful with anything else I've called about.

Amazon has their own UPS Fleet at their many warehouses. They pick up directly from Amazon then ship. I blame the retailer/Amazon for not updating their website about the delay in delivery.

I ship over 1,000 packages a year. (I run two online businesses.) If anything was sent via USPS Priority Mail and has been in the postal system for at least five postal business days, you can call and open a case. The number is 1-800-222-1811. A lot of the packages I sent were scanned once in Houston and once at delivery with no scans in between.

But many of them go to a warehouse/shipping location along the way. That's where a lot of them are getting held up.

Same here. UPS is starting to suck.

TinktheSprite --- 11 years ago -

I have an item that was shipped from Cali via USPS on Dec. 5th. It was scanned and sent on it's way. It made it about 100 miles south to Bell Gardens and someone forgot to scan it and it sat where it was for who knows how long. The Sender contacted yesterday and found the package in Dallas and *might* be delivered Dec. 26th. All along, USPS had no updates on the tracking number. It could have been done all along once the package was making it's way to TX. But that's the P.O. for you.

beth2417 --- 11 years ago -

Yep - same thing. I'm waiting on things I ordered on the 5th, the 7th and the 12th and all have been delayed/no tracking info etc. I noticed anything that went thru the Hodkins, Illinois UPS plant was delayed. All are gifts so looks like I will be making creative IOU's this evening.

Gigix4 --- 11 years ago -

I guess that's why I am hesitant to do on-line shopping. I would be a nervous wreck.

Pacmax --- 11 years ago -

My mom ordered us a prime rib from qvc. It was suppose to be here on the 20th. Never got it. It has said "out on truck for delivery" since the 20th. That meat is spoiled by now. Gross

TinktheSprite --- 11 years ago -

I usually do all my shopping online and never have had a problem. There was a very big snow storm the second week in Dec. Maybe UPS & USPS will have to look into their policies on handling bad weather delays. FEDEx had no issues. In fact, they were on time in sending and receiving all my packages My new greenhouse cam via ConWay truck lines. It got here early.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

i don't get it- UPS and USPS both delivered today- I did, however, have an issue about a week ago, due to weather-
I got my package, just 5 days late-

Gigix4 --- 11 years ago -

Well, my plan for the future is if I do any on-line shopping, it will be in the month of October - just to be sure. lol

(like grandkids know in October, what they want for Christmas!)

TinktheSprite --- 11 years ago -

I found some amazing deals online this year. Some thanks to marthasattic. (Thanks Martha!) Retailers are whining about the decline in sales. I think the weather kept people in and ordering online? Then add to the fact taht Christmas came early for us this year, or rather, Thanksgiving was later this year. But most of us don't feel in the Christmas mood even as late in the year as October. And hence the rushed feeling this year, at least for me.

Gigix4 --- 11 years ago -

And a lot of us. I'm still trying to figure out where September went!!!

UPS system overload....delayed packages till after Christmas

LOTS of people, esp in the DFW area, aren't getting packages till after Christmas.

Tylers Journey --- 11 years ago -

We got everything we ordered

Sharticus --- 11 years ago -

Our daughter's main Christmas gift was tracking to be delivered on time until about 11:00 today. It then switched to Thursday. I called the UPS main 1-800 number and asked if it was possible to pick the package up in person since it was showing that it was indeed in Houston. She said, "Absolutely!" She converts our status to will call and I got the confirming e-mail.

My wife drove all the way across town to get the package and immediately knew there was a big problem . No one was leaving with packages and the crowd was mob like (people from places like Porter driving all the way in after being told to "come on down."). She waits in line and finally gets her turn. Yep. It turns out the national database only sees that the shipment has arrived but individual packages have not been scanned and inventoried. They basically said, "We've got a million packages not inventoried and won't be able to find yours today. See ya Thursday or maybe Friday."

My wife demands to talk to a manager and he confirms that we are SOL. She finds a more senior manager and basically he confessed that UPS lost it this year and he expects it to be a CNN headline story by tomorrow. He says in his 20 years the is the biggest failure by far he has ever witnessed.

My wife gives up and leaves. As she's walking out to the parking lot she sees a guy climbing the security fence and yelling, "You've got my property! Give it to me now!" Total chaos.

beth2417 --- 11 years ago -

2 of my items say they have been in Houston since last Thursday and are supposedly out on the truck for delivery but nothing yet. My other 2 items say they arrived in Houston on Wednesday but that's all. Fun times. The only problems I have had this year have all been with UPS.

JustAskin' --- 11 years ago -

It's worse in DFW than even in Houston. If you look at their FB page, it's post after post of people trying to get packages.

My sister in DFW had three package that started the shipping process at the beginning of Dec and still haven't been delivered. They've been sitting at a shipping warehouse in Mesquite for days.

TinktheSprite --- 11 years ago -

Was there snow on the West Coast, too? An order to my DD in Cali has not arrived from Oregon. :/ I think something or someone eff'ed up at UPS this year trying to save money and not hiring enough workers or something?

RedMulch --- 11 years ago -

I think this Christmas season has been good....A good thing.......but i think that online shopping has been greatly and widely accepted more than ever...and i think they did not forecast well enough to know the overload they were going to experience in shipping......so it is general fail..... it is two different forces colliding......stick with it next year.......they will improve.

I'm a forecaster by profession..............just not in this industry, but i understand the difficulty......

you put a jinx on me!! I just got a notice that an amazon/UPS order was delayed.. the good news is they're giving me a $20.00 gift card- then again,it's a coffeemaker, and I need it NOW! (I'm home, and my dogs let me know when he comes-I'madding this in case someone else needs one, too!!!)

*Annie* --- 11 years ago -

How does one go about returning items to amazon? Mil not excited about one of her gifts.

JustAskin' --- 11 years ago -

Just go to your order history and in the menu next to the item, you can click a link and begin the process.

Valentine --- 11 years ago -

Well, I managed to get all my missing shipments today except one, that one happens to be for my Mom and grandmother. Certainly, they will understand. The kids would not!

Lesson learned. Next time don't count on that "free two day shipping" to work one week from the big day. Man, I'm glad Christmas is almost over.I hate this time of year! Bah humbug!

AFWife --- 11 years ago -

It was in the online news (they were showing DFW UPS offices) with a backlog of over 1,000 pkgs. Said it started from the freeze a few weeks ago.

RedMulch --- 11 years ago -

Said it started from the freeze a few weeks ago.

That probably contributed...but it was not the root cause.....
