A train has been stopped for 30 minutes! Ugh!!!

freebyrdll --- 11 years ago -

What a freekin mess! It has taken 15 min to get from WHills to Green Oak. Currently sitting here.

TinktheSprite --- 11 years ago -

WHills to Green Oak Leaving KW is slow? Heading out to work, soon. Update??

DustinsMom --- 11 years ago -

My husband is still stuck in it at 5:41.

gwennie --- 11 years ago -

Train blocking kingwood drive for over 45 minutes. Need to take north park.

evidently --- 11 years ago -

Yep. Still stuck!

DustinsMom --- 11 years ago -

Husband said there's helicopters now? This is bad. :(

SwimSwim --- 11 years ago -

Someone tried to beat the train, this is according to my kiddo who is very near there.

MoreToLife --- 11 years ago -

That's so sad, but almost everytime I'm at that light someone is sitting on the track waiting for the light to change. I'm not saying that's what happened this time but people who sit on the tracks are crazy.

Melanie --- 11 years ago -

Is Hamblen Road open?

MoreToLife --- 11 years ago -

MCPR is reporting a train vs. pedestrian.

DustinsMom --- 11 years ago -

Montgomery County Reporter:

A fatal train vs pedestrian on Loop 494 near Kingwood Drive has traffic in the area backed up in almost every direction with the crossings blocked.

Suggest FM 1960 to West Lake Houston Parkway then into Kingwood.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

i really, really hope that didn't happen, and if it did, they got out of the car-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

OMG, how does that happen on such a busy intersection?

Melanie --- 11 years ago -

So sad.

SleightOfHand --- 11 years ago -

"OMG, how does that happen on such a busy intersection?"

Sounds like someone felt that their life was so meaningless that they decided to share it with evening rush hour.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

that's what my dh said- what a horrible way to go-

RedMulch --- 11 years ago -

Northpark was open. Slow, but open.

RedMulch --- 11 years ago -

where was the accident? If Northpark is open, the it must have been way down the line. Or a short train. Is hamblem open?

Fresh Meat --- 11 years ago -

Yes, Hamblen was open.

Just stuck --- 11 years ago -

It was a short train. I was caught by the train @ Northpark @ about 4:50-4:55 & it seems it happened right after that.
There was an ambulance coming out of Kingwood at that time & it didn't make it to the RR tracks before the train arms went down to stop traffic. The ambulance had to sit there until the train passed. I was praying for the person on board. I hoped it was broken bones & not heart attack or worse.

DVaz --- 11 years ago -

I wonder if they will ever be able to have the train go over the streets via a long bridge. I don't see the roads (KWD/NP) going over the railroad tracks with all the businesses stuffed up near the RR/494 area.

Melanie --- 11 years ago -

The entrance into and the exit out of Kingwood via Kingwood Drive was closed for several hours as investigators worked to determine how a woman was fatally struck by a train on the tracks across Loop 494 from Molly's Pub and Second Baptist Church.

According to Houston Police Department Kingwood Division Lieutenant D.R. Atkins, Jr., they received a call around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 that a female had been fatally struck on the train tracks.

?The train was headed south on the tracks when the engineer reported they could see a body laying on the tracks as they crossed over the Kingwood Drive intersection, Atkins said. They used their brakes and emergency brakes and could not stop in time. The female that was on tracks was determined as deceased on scene.

The female's identity was not released at this time pending verification from the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. HPD Kingwood Division is not releasing any more information as to why the female was laying on the tracks.

?We acted as quickly as we could to reroute traffic since this incident happened right around rush hour, Atkins said. We thank everyone for their patience.

The story is continuing to develop. The Observer Newspapers will bring you more information once it becomes

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

wonder if foul play or suicide? If she was on the tracks and not moving could of been already dead or blacked out drunk.

FANCY PANTS --- 11 years ago -

AngieKay,
You could be right! It could be a murder cover up.

This is so awful. Prayers go out to her & her family.

J Dub --- 11 years ago -

Doesn't help that the trains don't blow their horns at the intersection anymore...

Sweet Cherub --- 11 years ago -

Wow, what a horrible story. So very sad.

FANCY PANTS --- 11 years ago -

Have they identified this poor woman?

Snake Plissken --- 11 years ago -

Maybe it was Blue Herron?

RedMulch --- 11 years ago -

Maybe it was Blue Herron?

I had that thought cross my mind.

MBH --- 11 years ago -

Any updates on this news story?

beandawgs --- 11 years ago -

kingwood.com has an update the sister in law of the woman posted something

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

the same thought went though my mind-

Kayry --- 11 years ago -

It's so very sad, so sad! I've heard it said by therapists that it's not that the person really wants to die he/she just can't live with the pain of whatever is going on any longer.

So many hurting people out there... Here's praying for her family now that they have this emotional bomb that went off in their lives!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 11 years ago -

I looked thru Kingwood.com and didn't see the sister-in-law- what did she say?

RedMulch --- 11 years ago -

I looked too and didn't see anything.

napoleon --- 11 years ago -

The update is in a thread "Woman Fatally Struck By Train" and her post was wtitten about 3.5 hours ago.
