Pot stirring

Dr Aborto --- 10 years ago -

First off. Jesus would be like 5 feet tall. It's gonna be weird when Jesus comes back and we're all looking down at our savior.

I love Jesus just not his followers so much...wait I stole that line.

I love Jesus just not his followers so much...wait I stole that line.

Then that is not loving Jesus. What does your Bible say about that? Oh I love you Lord I just don't like your followers? Yeah I think Moses said that was cool.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

LOL, you contradict yourself. Since you don't know what Jesus looks like, your comments would need pics also.

Love My Creator --- 10 years ago -

Plus you call Jesus in (). And say ZEUS? really? You're a Christian? Doubt that.

alldayredux --- 10 years ago -

I like the Kenny Loggins look. Fits inot the anglo WASP spin of their lives and makes them pay higher premiums (tithes) if the spirit looks white.

alldayredux --- 10 years ago -

You're a Christian? Doubt that.

Probably not a "real" one.

Love My Creator --- 10 years ago -

I love Jesus

Do you not see the hypocrisy in what you are saying?

alldayredux --- 10 years ago -

Do you not see the hypocrisy in what you are saying?

umm, no. The hypocrisy is in the greatest sales job ever. Props

aragon --- 10 years ago -

Probably more accurate than Kenny Loggins

No one will be looking down. They will all be at their smart phones- #JCthemancomesaround will be trending.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

The hypocrisy is in the greatest sales job ever.

Yes, the sales pitch that Satan has some folks believing.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

I looked it up. Many think that the Sephardic Jews are the closest to what first century Jews looked like. For a mental image, Neil Sekada was a Sephardic Jew. As is Hank Azaria.

Somewhat lighter skin than I was expecting. Dark eyes. Straight to curly hair.

I did see a documentary on the history channel once that attempted to reconstruct the face of a first century Jew and had very curly, almost woolish hair and a much darker complexion.

Who knows? It doesn't really matter, but it is interesting.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

Butt hurt liberals trolling with Christian bashing posts.

All the new rage since they've gotten their azzez handed to them in the midterms.

Commoner Sense --- 10 years ago -

Believe it or not, archeologists actually uearthed a pic of jesus, hs parents and his brother when they took a family trip back to the manger in Bethlehem0undefined 0undefined

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

LOL, it's obvious that you don't know what a manger is.

Where's his whore wife Mary and their two children?

Neil Sadaka and Hank Azaria are Jewish? I thought they were both Italian!

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

Neil Sadaka and Hank Azaria are Jewish? I thought they were both Italian!?

I think what we really want to know is, "how did jesus-era jews compare genetically to other populations around the world with respect to their share of Neanderthal DNA (or denisovian or other yet to be identified hominid that we interbred with)?"

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

"how did jesus-era jews compare genetically to other populations around the world with respect to their share of Neanderthal DNA (or denisovian or other yet to be identified hominid that we interbred with)?"

LOL, Neanderthals didn't have DNA that is different from any other human being.

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

LOL, Neanderthals didn't have DNA that is different from any other human being.

"The Neanderthal mtDNA sequences were substantially different from modern human mtDNA (Krings et al. 1997, 1999). Researchers compared the Neanderthal to modern human and chimpanzee sequences. Most human sequences differ from each other by on average 8.0 substitutions, while the human and chimpanzee sequences differ by about 55.0 substitutions. The Neanderthal and modern human sequences differed by approximately 27.2 substitutions. "

So...you love his followers as long as they are not gay or abort their children?

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Wicked, if your children do something wrong, so you cease to love them?

Do you equate love with agreeing with their every position?

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

And Satsuma? What do Neanderthals have to do with anything? I don't understand.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

The Neanderthal and modern human sequences differed by approximately 27.2 substitutions.

LOL, do you realize that substitutions are mutations?

All men got their DNA from one source.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

So...you love his followers as long as they are not gay or abort their children?

God says His followers don't perform homosexual acts or kill innocent children

Sharticus --- 10 years ago -

I always heard that he would have looked like Gaddafi or maybe Tom Jones.

It's interesting (to me, and probably some others). The neanderthal dna that we have might not matter for appearance (it aparently does have something to do with the immune system? we'll see).

However, like any discussion of Jesus's appearance (or Buddha, Moses, Confucius, Shakespear...) it doesn't have anything to do with anything that actually matters.

It's an idle comment. Who cares what Jesus and Buddha looked like? It's immaterial to their accomplishments and philosophies.

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

do you realize that substitutions are mutations?

Yes. and since neanderthal has 27 substitutions, and chimpanzees have 55. it's clear that the common ancestor between modern humans and chimpanzees existed way further back than the common ancestor we have with neanderthals.

alldayredux --- 10 years ago -

Satsuma--his appearance apparently matters a lot to American Christians who insist on pictures in every house of worship and insist on a picture that looks like themselves vs any attempt at accuracy.
It's more hypocrisy and it does matter.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

LOL. No, its meaningless since humans and chimpanzees don't have a common ancestor

LOL, you have no understanding of genetics, and now you have no understanding of the word "accuracy". Since you have no idea what Jesus looked like, you don't know what is accurate and what isn't accurate.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Satsuma, I'm just confused about Neanderthals because Jesus was only 2000 years ago. . .I think Im just not following your thought process. My blonde roots go deep.

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

Oh, no it's a good point. Not everyone follows this weird stuff: There's apparently a surprising amount of variation in the amount of DNA people have from the two species of hominids that humans bred with before they disappeared from the earth. Modern Europeans have a much stronger presence of Neanderthal genes non-europeans. EAST asians have more Denisovian genes than non- asians. I remember an interview with the first researcher to discover this. he said they were shocked that there would be so much variation globally given how long ago the fossil record indicates those species existed.

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

"genes involved in the lipid synthesis contained a particularly high number of Neanderthal variants in contemporary humans of European origin, but not in Asians and Africans." SD

"...everyone except Africans shared around 2% of their DNA with Neanderthals.

The simplest (although by no means only) explanation for this result is that humans and Neanderthals had babies ....
Based on this idea, scientists... searched the DNA of over 1,000 modern humans ....
(they) found that 20-40% of Neanderthal DNA is still hanging out somewhere in these folks? DNA. That is a whole lot of DNA that?s still around after tens of thousands of years!

A close look at this Neanderthal DNA suggested that some of the DNA stayed because it gave the hybrids an advantage. It also suggested that the hybrids had trouble having kids. Neanderthal DNA giveth and it taketh away." npr

to name a few...

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Oh ok, I got you now. I do recall reading something about that a few years ago and thinking that it explained a certain ex boyfriend of mine. . .
