Oh my goodness! This is why I don't want him running this country! He is a liar who doesn't know how to manage money.

An investigation into Donald Trump's holdings revealed a web of opaque financial relationships, and more than $650 million in debt

Saturday, August 20, 2016 10:32 AM EDT
An investigation by The New York Times into the financial maze of Donald J. Trump?s real estate holdings in the United States reveals that companies he owns have at least $650 million in debt ? twice the amount than can be gleaned from public filings he has made as part of his bid for the White House.

3rd generation hippie --- 8 years ago -

NO wonder he won't release his tax returns. I can only imagine what they will reveal. What a POS.

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

From the New York Times....yea, I believe everything they say. LMAO

The liberal media hate Trump because if he wins he'll go after them, too. They have always hated any Republican candidate but especially Trump because they fear him

cat poop --- 8 years ago -

650 million!!! They must be teaching obamanomics at trump university

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

650 million!!! They must be teaching obamanomics at trump university?

I wouldn't believe anything that the New York Times wrote. They probably saw $650 and then just added a few "0's" by mistake. They've already had to retract one article about him because it was wrong.

zeddd --- 8 years ago -

All lies
Hey... I guess all Lies matter

I think you wouldn't believe any negative article about mr trump. No matter the source.

DatBoyHooD --- 8 years ago -

Is it the same source that gave Biden the Romney pays zero taxes insider info

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

LOL....... more Trump molehills

zeddd --- 8 years ago -

Ty Jeff. I try . these liberals are funny to me.

If only they knew ahahabbaaahahaaa

That's right. Scary, and sad.

Not from any liberal newspaper. Trump appoints the first woman to head the campaign of a major candidate and not one paper reported it. If they are so unbiased, I wonder why they didn't report it. I guess they aren't unbiased and that they lean so far left it's a wonder why they haven't fallen over.

zeddd --- 8 years ago -

F trump and f Hillary

Rubicon --- 8 years ago -

What's the point releasing tax returns?

fuzz81 --- 8 years ago -

It's a precedent that's been set for a long time, to expose potential conflicts of interest, show that the candidate is in good financial standing, is above board, etc

Trump knows his taxes will fail the sniff test.

Elected officials usually put investments into a blind trust, to avoid conflicts of interest. The problem with trump is that he can't really do that with his children running his business.

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

I wonder why Hillary never did that with the Clinton Foundations when she was Sec of State. I wonder why she took contributions from foreign gov'ts while she was Sec of State. I wonder why liberals never mention that. Their worried about a conflict of interest Trump may have. Maybe they should clean their own house first.

DatBoyHooD --- 8 years ago -

to expose potential conflicts of interest

Wouldn't paid speeches show the same.. What was promised for a $250,000 speech

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

What was promised for a $250,000 speech?

Excuse me but Hillary or Bill never took less than $500,000. What were you thinking? LOL

DatBoyHooD --- 8 years ago -

250k here 500k here ..13M to the Clinton foundation .. No conflict of interest lmao

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

You know that if Hillary or Bill can't get $25,000/min, they won't do the speech.

fuzz81 --- 8 years ago -

What does that have to do with trump being at least $650 million in debt?

His wealth isn't as bigly as he claims.

brian --- 8 years ago -

From the New York Times....yea, I believe everything they say. LMAO

What an idiot. Yeah, don't trust the New York Times! Only a Trump fan would say this. I think I know who this Jeff moron is... that's right, bud. Why do you insist on flaunting your stupidity?

brian --- 8 years ago -

650 million!!! They must be teaching obamanomics at trump university?

Hey Jeff, explain your knowledge of economics? I'd love to hear this!

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

First of all, so what most companies owe money. secondly it's the companies that owe money not Trump. Thirdly, who knows how much they owe. Fourthly, you don't have the foggiest idea about who I am.

cat poop --- 8 years ago -

explain your knowledge of economics?

Its about how the economy works

Emperor of Kingwood --- 8 years ago -

Its clear that most of the liberals here have never read and do not understand and annual report or 10k.

AMDG --- 8 years ago -

Haven't read the NYT article yet. But stand alone any amount of corporate debt is not a meaningful number. It only becomes meaningful if the corporation has trouble or looks like it will have trouble servicing that debt

So we need a little more information to do some basic debt ratios to see if there is a liquidity problem.

As far as a presidential candidate goes, I would be very interested if mr trumps companies were in financial trouble, while he was pulling large amounts of cash out of them.

The enriching of the corporate elite at the expense of the the shareholder, or the debt or other capital markets, has been a real growth industry in the last 10 years.

The elite take large salaries, bonuses, fees ect. With the cash coming from debt or at the expense of the shareholder, and bleed the company into insolvency. Everyone loses except the few at the top who leave after taking lots of cash to their personal accounts.

AMDG --- 8 years ago -

Although all of this is perfectly legal. If mr trump was doing something like this, it would certainly point to a personality trait that he would be happy to enrich himself at the expense of other.

That is not a character trait I would want in a president. Even is true, don't think it would matter anymore to the core trump supporters. They all seem to have taken some kind of personal stake in this race. Think if they found mr trump wit a bloody ax in his hand, it somehow be Hillary's fault.

a889324uu --- 8 years ago -

lol right, because you Bob, Mr. Kingwood himself, is the only person on earth capable of reading and understanding so complex.

Give me a break hahaha

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

f mr trump was doing something like this, it would certainly point to a personality trait that he would be happy to enrich himself at the expense of other.

You really want to bring this up? Why didn't you bring anything up about the Uranium 1 deal where Hillary was paid a lot of money to sell RUSSIA 20% of our uranium stock. Kind of a double standard, isn't it. Sorry I forgot that HRC is above the law.

Hillary has done a ton more than Trump, most all of it looks bad and fishy.

AMDG --- 8 years ago -

Jeff - that is not the topic of the thread. We are not having a debate, or a discussion or even a conversation if all we do is answer one accusation with another accusation.

This entire election cycle to me has been both sides, with their fingers in their ears, screaming accusations, platitudes, meaningless promises to appease a base, and an absence of character.

Jeff, if we can't, as adults have a discussion of one item at a time, listen to each other and see if it has merit, and if so is it important enough to matter to us, what has become of the system we fought for. Or even worse, why should we even talk to anyone who has a different opinion than we do. That would really be sad.

And point of disclosure, I am not voting for HRC either.

Hiro Protagonist --- 8 years ago -

What was promised for a $250,000 speech?

A speech. Pretty straight forward. Show up, give a speech, get paid.

Jeff11233 --- 8 years ago -

Let see...$250,000 for 20 minute speech would be $12,500/ minute. I wonder who besides Bill and Hillary could get that rate!!!

cat poop --- 8 years ago -

I wonder who besides Bill and Hillary could get that rate!!!

Floyd Mayweather

Trump owes more money to Goldman Sachs than Hillary was paid by Goldman Sachs.

This is why releasing taxes are important.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

The majority of Americans are in debt, Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to vote.

wayward1 --- 8 years ago -

I'm the king of debt. I'm great with debt.
