I searched but didn't see - what are they going to do with that space?

SueRDH --- 8 years ago -

I heard it will be an Aldi.

andreweggplant --- 8 years ago -

Been gone for months... Aldi and a Family Dollar store. They started this week on the foundation.

What's next? A pawn shop?

That used to be a two screen movie theater, then Rowland's.

Brewgirl --- 8 years ago -

Do we need an Aldi here? How many of you go to Aldi?

SineadORebellion --- 8 years ago -

My in laws, who are retired and on a very fixed income, shop at Aldi all the time. Every bit counts for some. Not everyone in Kingwood is rich.

Dorothy Parker --- 8 years ago -

Lmao...Kingwood ain't Rodeo Drive, people!

Behold the pale horse --- 8 years ago -

a Family Dollar store.

I hope not.

God, right @DP!

The Sears building was a new building build for Sears. The old movie theater and Rowland's, circa 1980-1990's occupied the building to the north of the now-demolished building.

I would have preferred a different store, but i look forward to Aldi's organic produce.

Interesting some think they are too good for Aldi.

Aldi is the bomb! I'll take a gallon of milk for 1.45 and a dozen eggs for .79 any day of the week. Why would you pay more at Randall's, Kroger, etc.?

Joe Blow --- 8 years ago -

There goes the neighborhood!

LMFAO

It tastes better when you pay more for it! ;)

LOL...and the researchers have proven you right over and over again.

Aldi actually pays their employees well with benefits. Both stores bring jobs full and part time. Both companies bring in tax revenue based dollars. I have no qualms shopping at either store. Don't get the snobbery.

Actually, that old Sears Hardware was in the old movie theater building. Extensive remodeling was done, but, the shell of the building was the same. I used to go to that theater back in the 70's.

As for Aldi, I can tell you that their products are in most cases, superior to the products you buy at HEB or Kroger. The best example I can give is pop tarts. The Aldi brand is bigger and has more filling that the brand name pop tarts in the store. Also, they are cheaper. The only drawback is that your choices on products are limited. Other than that, the products they sell are better and less expensive. What's not to like?

If I can get a deal on pistachios, I'm IN. :)
It seems the parrot and I are addicted. I need to keep a stash, of pistachios. Lol

Aldi sells Aldi store brand and a stash of national brands here and there. They take pride in copying the national brands. Most of the time they do. Sometimes, I prefer the national brand over Aldi. There are websites that tell you what is a super bargain at Aldi. They have great sourdough bread, cheeses, chocolates, and pesto. Salty snacks are a deal and a pretty good copy though I find them to be saltier. Their flour, sugars, spices, etc., are a real steal. And of course their every day loss leader eggs and milk is a deal all the time. I haven't been to Aldi in while. I'll need to go...breing a quarter to get the shopping cart and your own bags or it's 6 cents a paper bag.
