Why does wrapping a Christmas present have to be so difficult. Its worth whatever anyone charges to just get it done with using colorful language.

whatchamacallit --- 6 years ago -

Use a gift bag.

sheddy --- 6 years ago -

We don’t exchange gifts anymore. It is heaven!!!

That's no fun. While I can't wrap presents very well, I do make the attempt. I like to see the recipient's eyes light up when they see what they got.

The Awe Inspiring JoelleDrees (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

I just bought this doohickey that slides over the wrapping paper roll and it cuts the paper. WHich is a HUGE game changer since my hands are getting old and holding scissors is starting to hurt after a while.

I used to be a terrible gift wrapper. Looked like 2 year olds were doing it. But then I worked a season at James Avery and they taught me how to wrap boxes and for a long time I was a pro. Now I've forgotten most of what they taught me but I can still do a pretty ok job. I just wish my hands didn't hurt.

Only family gifts get wrapped though. Santa doesn't wrap presents in our house, for children or adults.

Emp, you hate it bc you aren't good at it, LOL. It's a chore and that's never fun!!

Have you tried asking your wife? Women tend to be better at it bc we do it more often. Unless it's hers. ;)

Well when you retire, you have to get used to living on less. I used to pay someone to do it. So, in the spirit of self sufficiency I did it myself. When my wife gets home on Sunday and sees it she'll be amazed and impressed.

Use a gift bag.

THIS!!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Step 1: Go to the Dollar Store and buy lots of colored tissue wrap and lots of various sized bags.

step 2: wrap tissue paper around present many times.

Step 3: stick a name tag on the bag.

Voila! Done and done.

KwMillennial --- 6 years ago -

It’s not difficult at all EoK. It’s just a bunch of simple techniques they teach in preschool that don’t involve colorful language.

You should have watched a YouTube video.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Kw, for a person who claims to only want to have intelligent conversations about politics, you're being awfully snarky.

KwMillennial --- 6 years ago -

Is that against the rules or am I going to become one of those people that are held to a different standard?

Let me know if dropping a harmless tickle every now and then is wrong.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

Is it really THAT hard to just be civil? And NOT try to ruin other normal convos people try to have that don't involve political sniping and childish behavior?

KwMillennial --- 6 years ago -

This is really weird to me. I had no idea so many people that post here are so easily triggered. I have never received this kind of feedback from anyone about things I say to them before.

But it must be my fault if my words cause people to feel that way. I have a lot to learn.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Oh, please. Adults see sarcasm- don't play "poor little me-" put on your big girl pants and own it- people will respect you more if you do that-

What's weird? You came on a nice and pleasant thread and insulted the OP by saying it was something a preschooler should know. Not rocket science.

We aren't triggered, but some of us like convo sans the insults and pot stirring.

KwMillennial --- 6 years ago -

Pot stirring? Is this level of drama really necessary?

Cutting paper and taping it is literally something preschoolers do. But pointing out this truth is an insult and “pot stirring”. Ok. You get to win. I get it.

I guess i’m going in the icebox again for “pot stirring”? SMH.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Sorry, honey- that wasn't enough to get iced- try harder next time.

TinktheSprite --- 6 years ago -

I start wrapping as soon as I have gifts to wrap so that I don't have a pile to do all at once. THEN DH started wrapping stocking stuffers! UGH But seeing how he never had stocking gifts as a kid, I gave into this new tradition. Stocking Stuffers are hard to wrap!!

I like gift bags, too. They are fast and easy. But under the Christmas tree, I like wrapped boxes. It looks more like Christmas to me. One day I will get back into using ribbon and big bows on packages. I am a fan of gift tags too. Not the stick on kind, but the kind that you have to tie on. And so because I don't use ribbon I have nothing to tie them on, I have to tie each into a bow and tape them on the package. I am my own Gift Wrapping Enemy but I get it done.

I like that too, but only if someone else does it. Wrapping presents is an exercise in frustration.

Duct tape and newspaper.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

No, no, that's when you tie someone up! LOL!

1st world problems bob

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Yeah, well that's the world I live in.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

No, no, that's when you tie someone up! LOL

Steady there, let's get back in the middle of the road.

The Awe Inspiring JoelleDrees (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

Just put all the presents in a giant Santa bag and tie it with a bow. It'll look like Santa forgot his bag and give the kids more to be excited about. Tag all the gifts inside with the person's name. Voila! No muss, no fuss. =)

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

My grandma wanted us to carefully open her presents, and this after she would use half a roll of tape on each package! She wanted to reuse the paper.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

I bet everyone's grandma did that! LOL!

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

And my grandma's presents were always pajamas that she sewed herself. To this day, I still miss that present.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

That's a very sweet memory-

I know I'm getting underwear again this year. Why do our SOs find it necessary to manage our skivvies.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

Bc what's better than new undies?? If they fit right, that's important.

Ho Ho Ho

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Do y'all think we can't manage our skivvies?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

No, it's just a lil stocking stuffer thing. Lol
