isis has not been defeated. you can't just take their land, walk away, and think you win. what a moron. he goes against his joint chiefs of staff. he being mister bone spurs money bags ( removed) who got out of fighting like a true patriot.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 6 years ago -

.......... and the TDS rages on.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

. you can't just take their land, walk away, and think you win. what a moron.

Obama thought it would work wonderfully in Iraq, which was the direct reason ISIS arose to fill in the vacuum the he left. But he did get some temporary brownie points for "ending the war" until ISIS started chopping off Iraqi heads on the web.

Bush 43 thought it would work wonderfully in Iraq

WMD's?
Fixed it for ya

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Not that you are remotely on topic, but that war was approved by a bipartisan congress. Bush didn't just decide one morning to bomb Iraq and start pushing buttons, but your one dimensional, biased perspective on everything would logically (and erroneously) lead to that conclusion.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Stay in the shallow end where you belong. The topic is clearly withdrawal from the middle east theater.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

The only way to be sure to eliminate ISIS is to say there forever. As long as there are arab extremists, there's an opportunity for ISIS. It's time for the locals to fight for themselves.

In a late-night speech on the Senate floor on Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham railed against President Donald Trump's decision to pull troops from Syria, calling the decision "disastrous" and a "stain on the honor" of the U.S.

The South Carolina Republican said the president's claim, which Trump included in a video to his Twitter on Wednesday, that the Islamic State had been defeated was "fake news." Graham said he'd just gotten back from a trip to the Middle East and knew for a fact that it was "inaccurate."

Or what? You'll spew some more condescending remarks my way? Posta pleeze

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

LOL that wasn't directed at you, but sure, OK. I'll take it.

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

First they don't want the US to be the world's policeman, then whine when we hand it off.

SodaPopAndRitalin --- 6 years ago -

ISIS is based on an ideology, and that will never be defeated.

This is yet another win for Russia, along with sanctions just being lifted on Russian oligarchs.

arab extremists

Ethnicities aren't "extremists."

The dumbing down of American - complete, indeed.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

sodapop, would you be happier if I had said Muslim extremists? I'm pretty sure you'd have had a sarcastic response for that, too-

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

Ethnicities aren't "extremists."

You are correct. However, extremists, are often of an ethnicity. Ergo, 'Arab extremists' is correct.
Whether you like it, is not the point. They're definitions.

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

you can't just take their land, walk away, and think you win.

Sorta the definition of winning.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced his resignation on Thursday, citing differences over policy with Donald Trump, a day after the president abruptly called for the withdrawal of American forces from Syria.
In a two-page letter to the president, Mattis laid out his convictions on the value of U.S. leadership in strategic alliances, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the 74-nation coalition to defeat Islamic State.

a3295767uu --- 6 years ago -

The White House has ordered the Pentagon to draw up plans for a troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, two defense officials and a person briefed on the matter told NBC News.

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

The dumbing down of American - complete, indeed.

If you're going to knock others' intelligence, be sure you're not talking about yourself. See if you can find it, Green Day girl.

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

A3, any assessment of a war theater has a withdrawal plan updated on a regular basis. Do any of you lefties have any knowledge of history?

voice of reason --- 6 years ago -

LOL that wasn't directed at you, but sure, OK. I'll take it.

so it was directed at me? lol i think you're the one who is drowning considering that a republican senator who just returned from the mid east disagrees with you and your bone spur hero and so does the defense secretary, general mattis, who quit today in disgust. read his resignation letter if it's not over your head in the deep end where your'e drowning.

voice of reason --- 6 years ago -

mattis also reinforced that he is all about providing for the common defense, something which trump is unfamiliar with and totally clueless regarding.

a3295767uu --- 6 years ago -

Mattis resignation letter, written by someone deep inside the cabinet, suggests that the critics have been right along. Stepping down from his job on the basis that someone else would be better able to fulfill Trump's vision, Mattis makes two warnings. The first is that the strength of the United States is "inextricably linked" to the "strength of our unique and comprehensive system of alliances and partnerships." Without those strong alliances, he says, the United States cannot protect itself and other key nations.

Moreover, Mattis issued a stern warning that the President has to be "resolute and unambiguous in our approach to those countries whose strategic interests are increasingly in tension with ours," pointing to China and Russia as countries that want to promote an "authoritarian model" of government to their neighbors.

Mattis' letter is not a warning to President Trump, who, he knows after so many months of close experience, won't change. Mattis understands what this President is all about and that the notion of bringing him to normalcy is a fool's errand.

voice of reason --- 6 years ago -

"Mr. Mattis’ departure leaves the Trump administration without one of the few officials viewed as standing between a mercurial president and global tumult."

oy

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

I did read it. There is no mention of disgust or animosity. As a matter of fact, Matti's wrote that Trump needed a secdef more in line with Trump's own philosophy.

Last night I saw Rachel Maddow melting over this.

The left’s most prominent spokespeople are really showing some sincere hypocrisy and have no problem making sure everyone sees it.

How much longer before she rails against gay marriage?

trump's latest lack of mental capacity: syria withdrawal

On Syria. I believe we should get out of there for the cost of being there in dollars and human lives.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

so it was directed at me?

HAHA paranoid much? It was directed at a snarky, petulant, childish post by Judas that got rightfully deleted by a mod.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

The problem is a contingency in the US want Assad removed from power in Syria. Ain't gonna happen with Russia propping him up. The US departing Syria is nothing like Obama pulling us out of Iraq. We left a HUGE vacuum for ISIS to fill. The US leaving Syria still leaves an intact Syrian army as well as Russian troops. They are more than capable of handling what's left of ISIS.

Assad is a bad guy, but with Russia's support, he can suppress ISIS insurgents easily, and keep that part of the world relatively stable. Its not perfect, but we don't have any business deposing the Assad regime and propping up a fake regime that we are stuck defending in perpetuity.

DVaz --- 6 years ago -

We should have never been there to begin with. Being there was about overthrowing Assad and installing a puppet government and Zionist controlled central bank. Same with Libya.

voice of reason --- 6 years ago -

I did read it. There is no mention of disgust or animosity.

nah you didn't. you are just a fox parrot as is dvaz.

"Fox & Friends" host Brian Kilmeade on Friday ripped into President Donald Trump over his abrupt withdrawal of US troops from Syria, accusing him of opening the door for the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS, to make a major comeback.
Speaking with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kilmeade said, "Sarah, he's giving Russia a big win. Vladimir Putin praised him. He's also doing exactly what he criticized President Obama for doing.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

As I said in a previous post. Iraq was wholly incapable of defending itself when the US pulled out, despite arming the Iraqi army to the teeth. First sign of conflict and they dropped their new weapons and ran, thus arming ISIS even further.

Syria is completely different. The Syrian army is intact and seasoned. Plus they are backed by Russian military and air support.

Optics as the media present them aside, Syria and Russia can handle what's left of ISIS just fine.

SodaPopAndRitalin --- 6 years ago -

There is no mention of disgust or animosity

You really need to read between the lines.
I'm assuming you aren't real familiar with Mattis?

Syria and Russia can handle what's left of ISIS just fine.

ISIS has been empowered and things are going to get much, much worse. Unless of course the military experts and the Pentagon are all wrong, and you have some Secret Squirrel Society insider information they aren't privy to. I'm sure that's it.

“I have been privileged to serve as our country’s 26th Secretary of Defense which has allowed me to serve alongside our men and women of the Department in defense of our citizens and our ideals.”

Translation:

“I’m not thanking you, you odious orange hobgoblin, I’m making it clear that being SecDef was the peak of my career because of the people who have made their lives all about public service. Also: America is more than just the land and the people, it’s an idea, an idea you clearly don’t understand.”

And…

“One core belief I have always held is that our strength as a nation is inextricably linked to the strength of our unique and comprehensive system of alliances and partnerships.”

Translation:

“We’re not strong because we have more bombs, we’re strong because we lead a coalition that we put together after defeating our enemies and remaking them in our image.”

He wrote:

“While the US remains the indispensable nation in the free world, we cannot protect our interests or serve that role effectively without maintaining strong alliances and showing respect to those allies.”

Translation:

“You’re an idiot for praising our enemies and disrespecting the friends that fought with us in WWII and the allies we created when we remade the world in our image after that war.”

What he wrote:

“I have said from the beginning that the armed forces of the United States should not be the policeman of the world. Instead, we must use all tools of American power to provide for the common defense, including providing effective leadership to our alliances. NATO’s 29 democracies demonstrated that strength in their commitment to fighting alongside us following the 9-11 attack on America. The Defeat-ISIS coalition of 74 nations is further proof.”

What he meant:

“Remember what I wrote about how it’s our allies and not the bombs that make us so strong? You’ve been admonishing our friends in NATO who have been there for us and praising the tyrants who pose a clear and present danger to the international order that we built and have been leading for generations. That makes you an idiot who doesn’t understand the basics of who and what we are.”

Mattis wrote:

“Similarly, I believe we must be resolute and unambiguous in our approach to those countries whose strategic interests are increasingly in tension with ours.”

Mattis meant:

”It would be really, really great if you would stop acting like Putin’s b**ch for like five effing minutes.”

Wrote:

“China and Russia, for example, want to shape a world consistent with their authoritarian model—gaining veto authority over other nations’ economic, diplomatic, and security decisions—to promote their own interests at the expense of their neighbors, America and our allies.”

Meant:

“Sucking up to autocrats and tyrants is a sure-fire way for us to become about as important on the global stage as Bolivia.”

Wrote:

“My views on treating allies with respect and also being clear-eyed about both malign actors and strategic competitors are strongly held and informed by over four decades of immersion in these issues.”

Meant:

“Just because Putin smiles at you and Xi visits your cruddy resort in Florida doesn’t mean they’re your friends. If you had the attention span of a high school kid who pays attention in history and social studies you would know better. In fact – there are high school kids more qualified to do your job than you are.”

What he wrote:

“We must do everything possible to advance an international order that is most conducive to our security, prosperity and values, and we are strengthened in this effort by the solidarity of our alliances.”

That meant:

“We built this new world order and have led it since 1941. The reason we are safe, free and prosperous is because we kept our old allies and made new ones out of our former enemies and our friends, both old and new, are the ones you’ve been pissing off instead of embracing. Keep that sh** up and we become Bolivia while China does in the 21st Century what we did post-WWII.”

You really gulped down that kool-aid, Green Day girl. How about answering the question first.

DVaz --- 6 years ago -

VoR, do you think this is a coincidence? -

In the year of 2000 there were seven countries without a Rothschild owned or controlled Central Bank:

Afghanistan
Iraq
Sudan
Libya
Cuba
North Korea
Iran
Syria

"Axis of Evil" anyone.... Why is it "we" have such a problem with these countries?

And Putin has kicked the Zionist bankers out...

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

LMAO!!!!! Dvaz, you really drank the koolaid!! A conspiracy theorist! OMG, we've got everyone on this site, now- left wing lock step socialists, right wing lock step "everything Trump does is golden", and now the real nut jobs who think "ZOG" consists of the evils spawn European Jews and all the rich people who collude with them! If there ever was a rabbit hole, this is it! Jesus, help us because this must truly be the end of times.

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

First they don't want the US to be the world's policeman, then whine when we hand it off.

The left flip flops all the time. Several years ago Schumer said we needed a "fence" and voted for it. He just doesn't want to give a victory to the President at the expense of the American people. If the gov't shuts down then he owns the shut down because the house voted for the wall.

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -
