Ok, so your question is how can I call myself a Christian and yet am a lesbian, right?

My answer before sums it up.

Yes homosexuality is a sin, we are well aware of that. However there are many sins and every man has sinned and sins repeatedly to some degree. Sins are not ranked, you can't say my sin is worse than yours simply because you may not like my sin.

Yes, I am a sinner.

I also know God made me and gave me this challenge and yes I do have choices. I have the choice to act on my homosexuality or not. If I do not act on it then I would not have been involved with my previous partner and our daughter and helped raise and develop a beautiful woman (heterosexual by the way and married) and an awesome individual who does great work in her community. If I did not act upon my homosexuality I would not be in my current relationship and helping to develop our daughter, a beautiful young woman (also heterosexual) who is a top student, dancer and volunteer in the community.

So yes my homosexuality is a sin however in choosing to do this sin I am the person I am today and it helps to bring me closer in my relationship with God.

You have your sins, I have mine. How do you deal with your sins while still calling yourself a Christian?

It is no different, we strive to do Gods work, we strive to be good people and we pray every day

In the end, Perfection, it is only for God to judge. God forgives those who come to him and confess their sins & ask forgiveness. No human on earth can give God's forgiveness to another human. As you said, we are all sinners and we pray to be better in God's eyes.

there is a difference between committing occasional sin and intentional continual sin

God doesn't create anyone a homosexual...God doesn't tempt people...if you believe that your god does this...then that god isn't the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob...the Creator of the universe

i know that sounds harsh...but it is the truth as told by the Bible

when a person is "born again"...they are a new creature in Christ...the OLD has passed away

yep...people live in a sinful world...and even Christians will TEMPORARILY "fall away" from God's truth...but the Holy Spirit convicts...and the Christian repents...they don't purposely continue that lifestyle

you only get closer to God when you seek the Kingdom of God and walk in agreement with Him...i hope and pray that you will come to know this truth...

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

God is supposed to be number one in the life of a Christian...NOT ourselves and what we want

if any person is continually going against the Word of God...does anyone think that person actually BELIEVES God/Jesus?


btw...sins aren't all the same...there are greater sins

"Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin" - John 19:11

there are some sins that lead to death and others that do not...therefore different degrees of sin

"If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it." - 1 John 5:16

"A sin which does not lead to death" is one that is genuinely repented of and for which forgiveness is available because the attitude of the sinner is meek and truly sorrowful. A person may have this attitude, yet still sin on occasion out of weakness, ignorance, bad judgment or even inadvertently. Both greater and lesser sins can fall under this category. Earlier in the book, the same apostle writes:

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:8-9)

Our genuine confession admits to God that we are guilty of breaking His law and seek to be cleared of it by Christ's sacrifice. This true repentance leads to a fierce desire not to sin and to building righteous character. God thus lifts the penalty of the second death, and once again, we, by His grace, are back on the road to salvation.

The sin that John calls a "sin leading to death" is what others know as "the unpardonable sin." Again, both greater and lesser sins can lead to the attitude that causes someone to commit an unforgivable sin. Such a sin is deeply reinforced by the attitude of the sinner—an attitude that denies Jesus Christ as Savior, that flagrantly hates his brother, and refuses to obey God's laws and statutes. Rebellion and defiance set this sin apart from others!

Jesus speaks of this sin in Mark 3:28-30:

"Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"—because [the scribes] said, "He has an unclean spirit."

A person who blasphemes the Holy Spirit allows Satan to influence him so thoroughly that he refuses to submit to God. He rejects the power of God's Spirit and defiantly shakes his fist at His Creator. In this state he is too proud and rebellious to repent, and thus God cannot forgive him." - Martin Collins

"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." - Hebrews 10:26-27

i really do hope that you will realize the love God has for you...and that you can come to Him and He will truly give you rest and the ability to turn to a Godly lifestyle...He does truly want ALL to come to Him...and ALL includes the ones that live a homosexual lifestyle...

i know the people who are patting you on the back think they are helping you...but deviating from the truth never helps anyone...

I remember about a year ago I said this to you John and you told me that no true christian would backslide or temp fall away. Now you say that it can happen. Why the change?

your "casting stones" doesn't apply here...Jesus was speaking of punishment...not recognizing what God has determined to be sin

It is not for any of us to judge one another that's between each of us and our Lord!

it isn't necessary for any of us to judge anything...God has already made the judgment...it is incumbent upon each of us to recognize God's judgments

None of us truly know what is in store for us when we leave this world. We go on faith. We all have our own struggles and choose our own paths. I sin constantly and although I ask for forgiveness, I fall and stumble time and time again. How another person deals with their personal sin and their faith is none of my business. As a Christian, I don't decide who else is or isn't a Christian. That is between them and God.

Each of our personal relationships with our Lord is different. I am sure the Lord is thrilled for someone who is so well read on the Bible, but you know what the Lord is just as thrilled to have a personal relationship with those who may not be perfect and considering that is 99.9% of people, I think we are all ok. When you accept Christ in your life, it does not make you perfect nor does it mean you have to live your life to perfection ( no pun intended) You are to live your life the best you can, be the best person you can be and love the Lord. Bashing people on a board to me is not what He would want us to do

As a Christian, I don't decide who else is or isn't a Christian. That is between them and God. 

yep...it sure is...however God tells us what makes someone a Christian...and He gave us this information in the Bible so that we can HELP others to know...and to HELP them get on the RIGHT path...through instruction, reproving, rebuking and exhortation

Thank you perfection. You did not have to do that, open yourself up like that. But I am glad you did. Many people have only one view of people that are different from them, whether that be sexual orientation, or different races or cultures or other things that set us apart from each other. When we don't know another's heart, it is easy to make assumptions.

I am sure it hurts sometimes to read the things people say about gay people when you know that you are a good and decent person that has accepted Christ. If we could have more honest conversations with the people that we judge it might help us realize that none of us are that different from each other.

I have no doubt that God loves you and has a place for you in his kingdom.

Each of our personal relationships with our Lord is different

there is only one Holy Spirit...and Jesus PRAYED that ALL would be in UNITY as Jesus was in unity with God...

"that they may be one, even as we are one" - John 17:22

and Jesus also explained...

"So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." - Romans 12:5

but you know what the Lord is just as thrilled to have a personal relationship with those who may not be perfect and considering that is 99.9% of people

i have NEVER spoke of perfection in someone's life as a requisite to salvation...and you don't have to be a Bible scholar and know the whole Bible...but what you do know...you have to believe it to be true

and AGAIN...telling someone the truth about what the Bible says IS NOT BASHING

what does it mean to accept Christ into your life?...it means to BELIEVE Him

are you believing Him if you do what you want instead of what He wants...or are you believing in self?

what does that even mean?

who made the judgment that stealing is a sin?...God

who made the judgment that murder is a sin?...God

who made the judgment that fornication is a sin?...God

so if a person sees someone stealing...what are they doing?...recognizing what God has already judged to be a sin...and what God has said will keep someone out of heaven...

however...if a person determines that riding a bike is a sin...and that riding a bike will keep someone out of heaven...then that person made the judgment on their own...it wasn't God's judgment

see the difference?

I really do believe that John is trying to help here, and not be unkind. I do believe him to be concerned about Perfection and trying to help her. You can not pick and choose what you want to believe in the Bible and what you don't. That would sure be a whole lot easier, but God did not promise us easy. I happen to like Perfection, although I do not know her. I pray the best for her.

I only have a minute because I have to be up very early in the morning but....
Perfection you are a stand up Christian and only God has any say about it. We all sin, even John, I am sure. I am glad to think of you as my friend and support your comment 100%.
I don't have time to read John's comments but heaven knows I know where he is going with them. I am sure you are used to ignoring him.
