I have lived in the Kingwood/Forest Cove area for 16 years. For many years I have had difficulty with our cable company-Suddenlink. I have discovered that the lack of quality service as charged, false and misleading statements, manipulative business practice combined with the general monopoly Suddenlink has on internet provision for Kingwood area residents can be addressed through a class action lawsuit. This would not be the first such lawsuit that Suddenlink has faced. In other areas this has resulted in better service for the community. I have contacted lawyers concerning this action and would like to hear the opinions of others in our community. Thus far, I have collected several names of persons interested in pursuing the Class Action Lawsuit in hopes of resolving the issues we have faced for numerous years. I was advised that this forum would be a good place to offer this information to interested parties in the community.

Sue them for what? You have other options

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

You can't do anything. The telco and Suddenlink have lifetime leases on the lines in KW. It's been that way since it's inception. This deal was brokered long before this area was ever the city of Houston.

The Class Action Lawsuits that are currently against Suddenlink are for practices which are unethical and considered manipulative. These are in progress in other areas of the country and now Kingwood residents will be able to join this action.

Soup King, just bc that's the way it has always been, doesn't mean that's the way it should be. This allows residents to stand up against unethical and manipulative practices by businesses which are designed to serve the public interest.

Go for it r!

Do it. I would like to see other companies provide service to Kingwood. Suddenlink has a lot of problems in providing quality service. I am tired of my internet and phone going out. I don't know what it is going to take to do away with the Suddenlink monopoly, but I would love ot see it open up to other companies. I stand with you.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

Any company can provide service out here. They will have to invest in their own infrastructure. Suddenlink owns the lines, they get to provide the service on those lines.

Suddenlink owns the equipment and it's a monopoly--therefore the service stinks and the price goes up minimum every 6 months for nothing . Our bill has gone up $20 for no added service--no movie channels--nothing extra..in fact I had to remove certain blocks of channels just to afford the increases. They give new cheaper deals to the new folks and penalize the people who have paid ontime for years. Ridiculous

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

It isn't a monopoly. If you do not like their service, using their network, then go to their competitors ie DirecTv and Dish network

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

That's like suing walmart because they have 50 lanes but only have 3 open.

It's more than just TV, internet & phone service.

Kingwood is The Liveable Forest and the neighborhoods that were developed over 10 years ago have tons of trees. Therefore the dish or direct tv are not a choice for many including me. You cannot get a clear signal and even if you do as soon as the wind blows service is out. Whatever you want to call it Suddenlink is the only cable service and therefore they take advantage . They increase the customers bills who have paid ontime for years and the increases are not due to any added channels or services.

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

My neighborhood is over 20 years old, has tons of trees and we've had Direct TV since moving in 8 years ago.

When I lived out west, my house was over 100 years old, we had big trees and were surrounded by mountains, and had Direct TV with no problems.

So, not sure why you can't have Direct TV.

FT40 --- 10 years ago -

I would love too i can't stand them!!!

Jepperd --- 10 years ago -

Though suddenlink is bad, the are nothing compared to the horror of Time Warner and Comcast. We are way luckier than a large portion of the nation. This is really nothing new. Cable pretty much owns congress and nothing will change unless a huge company (google, apple) comes in and reinvents the way we get internet.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

We have cable internet and directv. Couldnt be happier. No internet issues at all. TV only goes out during the heaviest parts of storms but that only lasts a few minutes. The rest of the time, the TV works great and has a better selection

I've had all three. Suddenlink is by far the worst.

Judas --- 10 years ago -

I got to disagree with Dread as normal. Suddenlink works best for us.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

GF has the very same problem. No matter where the dish is pointed, trees are in the way of the signal. Both Dish and DirectTV came out to try to set up and it is a No Go. She is stuck with SuddenStink as well.

MonzaRacer --- 10 years ago -

Maybe this will help
