Any murder and mayhem caused by open carry yet?

whatchamacallit --- 9 years ago -

Also wondering about those idiots claiming they would be swatting anyone they saw open carrying? Maybe they decided they didn't want to go to jail?

Defcon1 --- 9 years ago -

Still haven't even seen anyone carrying yet.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

No open carry in Church today...oh, wait..lol

Porter Wagoner (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Did the kid at Subway that had the weapon pointed at him live?

Dorothy Parker --- 9 years ago -

Still haven't even seen anyone carrying yet.?

That's why there's been no problem. People are smarter than that. Goes along the lines of "just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should."

Froggie --- 9 years ago -

I was out and about yesterday, went to multiple stores and didn't see a single person open carrying.

That's why there's been no problem. People are smarter than that. Goes along the lines of "just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should."[/i]

^^^agreed

: )

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Where is the mayhem that was promised to us by the loony left gun grabbers?

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

You should test it out soup. Spend the day open carrying, and going into all the kingwood stores. try HEB and Starbucks

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

The states with open carry for years have seen a 23% decrease in murder rates.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Where is all the mayhem you promised, fuzzball?

Falling flat on your prediction?

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

HEB has the required no open carry signage.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

LOL............. I'm sure Starbucks does as well.

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

As an LTC holder, I haven't opened carried at all. But, there's an obvious deterrent effect of open carry.

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

Researcher Gary Kleck found that 92 percent of criminal attacks are deterred when a gun is merely shown (or, rarely, a warning shot fired). By inference, this means that open carry would have the effect of deterring crime in the same way that a thief might choose another restaurant when he sees police eating at his intended target.

steinhoister2016 --- 9 years ago -

Where are all the Cowboys with a pistol on their hip?? Out saving the day no doubt...

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

I never promised any mayhem lol.. Are you making things up again?

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Guess what else reduces criminal attacks? Education and social services. Yes, it takes years. But it's a long term solution instead of thinking we just need more guns. What a crazy notion to think you can eat a meal or shop in peace without having "protection"

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Yes, it takes years.

In the meantime.............. some of us prefer to protect ourselves now and not hold out for a few years.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

You could go to Oregon and join Y'allQueda out there. They've declared YeeHawd on the wildlife department fur taking their land. Sounds right up your alley soup

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

What are you even talking about?

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

An armed anti-gov militia has taken a federal building on Saturday in Oregon

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Where's all the mayhem, fuzzball?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Maybe they're looking for their "safe space"?

*LOL* --- 9 years ago -

Am I the only one that keeps looking around to see someone carrying? I haven't seen even one. Maybe I need to drive further north on the eastex.

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

Awareness of an armed citizenry has been shown to lower crime. In 1982, Atlanta suburb Kennesaw required all households to have a gun. The residential burglary rate subsequently dropped 89 percent in Kennesaw, compared to the modest 10.4 percent drop in Georgia as a whole.

Ten years later the residential burglary rate in Kennesaw was still 72 percent lower than when the ordinance was passed.

No wonder open carry is on the march.

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

LOL hook line and sinker

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Anyone who tried to use kennesaw as an example of guns reducing crime is demonstrating their own lack of education and rational thought

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

According to cnn they are protesting the govt taking the land as part as eminent domain. They are on land protesting they have not taken over any buildings
Let's compare the protest to #BLM
1) stopped commerce at malls
2) stopped traffic on an interstate
3) interrupted public speeches
4) called for the killing of police

Another fail by fuzz

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

You can't compare to an openly armed group who has taken a federal building under siege LOL. Nice try

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

Interrupting commerce and putting people's life in danger on an interstate yea I would put that on the same level of stupid.

Prolix Raconteur --- 9 years ago -

Interrupting commerce

Is that PC speak for burning down half your city and looting all the stores?

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

Gun violence has been declining for the past 30 years. See the Department of Justices Bureau of Statistics for exact statistics. That decline has continued as the number of CCW granting states increased (now 100% of U.S. states). Additionally, violent crime has also been declining over that same time frame.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

All crime has declined. Weak argument.

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

If all crime is in a decline why the sudden urge to limit gun ownership

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

A study which was recently published by Harvard took a look at firearm ownership, gun laws and violent crime, and suicide rates around the world. The authors sought to answer the question would banning firearms reduce murder and suicide?

According to the study, the so-called fact that the reason the murder rate is so high in the United States compared with other modern developed countries is due to the U.S. having uniquely easy access to guns, is simply not true. The study indicates those homicide rates are not an accurate representation and moreover, that those rates have nothing to do with the number of firearms in the country.

While gun ownership in the U.S. is high, the unusually high murder rate is not the norm. The study compares other developed countries with high gun ownership rates, including Norway, Finland, Germany, France and Denmark. These countries all have significantly lower murder rates than the U.S. as well as those countries in which gun ownership is much more uncommon. In other words, the high murder rate of the U.S. is the exception, not the rule, when comparing homicide rates to gun ownerships rates.

In comparing gun ownership rates with homicide rates, the study concludes that ?where firearms where are most dense violent crime rates are lowest, and where guns are least dense violent crime rates are highest.?

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

More from the Havard Study.

However, a CDC study released earlier this year showed that even with the U.S. owning half the guns on earth, those guns are more often used in self-defense than for violent crimes.

Moreover, in addition to the Harvard study, at least two other studies have come up with similar conclusions. In 2003 the U.S. Center for Disease Control and again in 2004 the U.S. National Academy of Sciences both concluded that they ?failed to identify any gun control that had reduced violent crime, suicides, or gun accidents.?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Gun grabbers just getting more and more frustrated.

Behold the pale horse --- 9 years ago -

Anyone who tried to use kennesaw as an example of guns reducing crime is demonstrating their own lack of education and rational thought

Oh Really.

Matt Brannan and J.P. Mitchell were dining in the Wafflehouse on Barrett Parkway at I-575 in Kennesaw at 4:45 in the morning recently when a scout for an armed robbery crew entered the restaurant to case it. At the time, Matt and J.P. thought he looked a little suspicious, as he was wandering around the small restaurant like he was looking for someone. Unknown to Matt and J.P., two cars full of armed robbers were parked behind the restaurant waiting for the scout's report.

The scout saw that two of the customers were wearing holstered 1911 Springfield Mil-Spec .45 pistols, and he immediately turned and left the store.

Meanwhile, conscientious Cobb County Police Officer D. Lowe had noticed suspicious cars sitting behind the restaurant in the dark and decided to investigate. He caught men with masks and rifles who had been preparing to rob the Wafflehouse. The criminals informed the police that they had changed their mind upon discovering armed customers and were waiting for Matt and J.P. to leave. Ironically, the police car was pulling in to the parking lot just as Matt and J.P. were driving away. In other words, had Matt and J.P. not been armed, the robbery probably would have occurred before the police intervened.

Captain Jerry Quan, the Commander for Precinct One, where the Wafflehouse is located, confirmed Matt Brannan's story as one in which the open display of a pistol deterred a well armed robbery crew.
