I hope you all will give this place a shot. It's not a Mexican Restaurant per se, but if you want the best steak fajita's ANYWHERE, this is your spot. Incredible happy hour specials to along with the Tulie's queso. I grabbed a burger on one of my many family visits; it was tasty and the fries (natural cut/homemade) were awesome! My friends really enjoyed the enchiladas too, I just haven?t been able to pass up the beef fajitas and burger!
Yes, they make you pay for salsa but who cares. Having to pay for salsa allows those who don?t want to force feed themselves unhealthy chips, an actual option, and like I said, not a traditional Mexican restaurant.
My kids ask us to go now because they really enjoy it, and the price is well worth the trip. For whatever reason (location most likely), Tularosa?s has yet to gain in popularity but this still allows you to eat with a large group and get seated immediately. We have been going once a week and I signed up for Kingwood Underground to get the word out!

They make an awesome chicken fried steak, too. Been wanting to try the fajitas as I've heard the same thing but still can't past the chix fried steak when I go. My wife loves the green chili chicken enchiladas.

Agree with Energy Adv 88. Love the food. The BBQ is great along with fajitas, rellenos, and hatch enchiladas. Only issue which is common to restaurants in Kingwood is the inexperience of the waitstaff. I want them to succeed. Great owner and great food, just make sure the waitstaff is proficient in knowing the menu and greeting tables quickly.

LOVE the food at Tularosa. It is not Mexican food at all. And they will quickly tell you that. It's not Tex Mex either. Its food from NEW Mexico.

Every restaurant that's opened in that building has failed miserably. It may simply be a bad location.

Joe Blow --- 5 years ago -

I'm going to take the wife there for her birthday. Fajitas or chicken fried steak? What to have. What to have. I hope this place makes it.

The Chile Rellenos are the best EVER. Tastes like homemade. Salsa is good too. Mmmm

SO good it's worth repeating!

I know!!! Lol! Maybe I can sit with Mr. And Mrs. Blow. I need a date! Wanna come??

Prolix Raconteur --- 5 years ago -

That's actually the least caustic thing Mr. Blow ever posted, yet I'm dubious he's turned over a new leaf! One can hope, but not sure I'd commit to dinner over it.

This is the perfect place for business lunches! Quiet, great food, perfect atmosphere. There are office buildings all around there that should be packing Tularosa at lunchtime!

Brewgirl --- 5 years ago -

They also do one of the best burgers around (competing with the big three in the area!) and have a really well priced kids menu!

Ninfa's didn't really fail. It was always packed. Didn't it close for a reason other than money?

Brewgirl --- 5 years ago -

Ninfa's had a corporate split- Mom vs Son.
They closed a few. The original on Navigation is still there. And right next door is El Tiempo Cantina- owned by the son!

TinktheSprite --- 5 years ago -

I never knew that!! I wondered why Ninfa's picture was on the wall.

Dominic Laurenzo is his name. He also own Laurenzo's Restaurant in midtown. Awesome food there as well, from steaks and seafood to pasta and tex-mex.

Karras --- 5 years ago -

We went there over the weekend for the first time.

Everything was great from the service to the food. Chips and Salsa worth the money.

It would be nice if they had a no meat option like a black bean burger or black bean soup.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 5 years ago -

Don't forget about El Real on Westheimer.

TinktheSprite --- 5 years ago -

I really liked El Tiempo!

Sharticus --- 5 years ago -

Chips, salsa and queso -very good

Small country fried steak and homemade fries. - very good. Small was plenty of food for a big guy. The steak had a minor twang to it. Maybe the marinade. Wasnt bad. Just different. Fries awesome.
Mixed fajitas for two. Very good. The best around? I'm a Lupe fan so no. But very very good.

Large house frozen margarita - sugar buzz at best. Waste of money.

Price $66.00 for three. Average to high

Where is this place?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

Hi Puss!!

It's in the old Ninfas location in that strip center on Green Oak and KW Dr. It's good!

Joe Blow --- 5 years ago -

Hi Puss!!

I bet if I said that you'd ice me.

OBVIOUSLY ALL THESE COMMENTS ARE PROVIDE BY FRIENDS & RELATIVES OF TULAROSA. THE PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS. THE VEGETABLE FOODS WERE ALL WILTED AND OLD. THE PLACE WAS LIKE A GRAVE YARD THE TWO TIMES WE ATE THERE. DON'T PRETEND YOUR CHILDREN ARE ASKING YOU TO GO THERE, THEY WANT MCDONALDS. QUIT TELLING ALL THOSE LIES ABOUT HOW GREAT IT IS. THE BAR REAPS OF MILDEW AND THE HIPPIE CANDLE IN FRONT DOES NOT GET RID OF THE ODOR. THERE IS NEVER A BARTENDER THERE AND NONE OF THE SERVERS KNOW THEIR FACTS ON THE ALCOHOL BEVERAGES. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO EXTEND YOUR LIFE.

Joe Blow --- 5 years ago -

OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE A JEALOUS COMPETITOR. STOP YELLING.

That said, Tularosa is great. Great food, competitive pricing. Something different, New Mexico.

Joe Blow --- 5 years ago -

If you're really a Chef with a bone to pick, pun totally intended, maybe you worked there and RC fired your butt.

I have no affiliation with Tularosa. Only a craving for the slightest resemblance of Southwestern foods here in Texas. They do a pretty good job.
