That?s 3 now in as many weeks.

How many shootings like this have there been in Australia, Japan, or Canada? Oh yeah, that?s right they have gun laws.

Hiro Protagonist --- 5 years ago -

Thoughts and prayers............like that will help.

idontplaynice --- 5 years ago -

How about this story, where a dad protected his 17-yo daughter from being abducted by a gang of teen thugs, who had knives and guns. This happened at night. They went so far as to block the road off to his house with barrels.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/hero-father-thwarted-alleged-kidnapping-attempt-said-still-144906504--abc-news-topstories.html
Quote:
On Nov. 7, four armed teenagers who had "concocted a plan to kidnap the teenage daughter" and then rob the Brackney family home were taken into custody by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO), the office said in a statement.

The teens were armed with a knife and guns, authorities said.

"The goal was to first force her out of her car by blocking the road with barrels and garbage cans," the OCSO said per the results of their investigation, adding that Amber simply drove around the blockade and did not exit her vehicle. "They then planned to head to her house, confront and subdue her father -- who they believed to be wealthy -- and rob the home."

I wonder how many times incidents like this occurred throughout the US that doesn't get reported in the media? Clearly, that man's gun saved his life and his daughter's life. And some people out there would strip him of his ability to defend himself and his family?

Thoughts and prayers............like that will help.

It won't hurt either.

California has gun laws, too. A lot of them. Didn't seem to prevent this kind of incident.

Don't you know that if we had highly restrictive gun laws (like Chicago) that criminals wouldn't have guns?

I'm certainly glad Heroin has been outlawed. That guarantees no one will use it.

Yes, those pesky gun laws would make a criminal pause and think, "Oh wait, I can't have this gun, it's illegal."

UGE prayers.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

There's been another new shooting? Please post an article with some facts or specifics to the event. I've not heard a word about another shooting.

As far as thoughts and prayers toward victims and their survivors, maybe you don't want any and that's fine, but it's insensitive to demean those things for the multitudes that would appreciate it and who see it as SUPPORT.

Someday, terror may come to YOU in the way of a shocking, traumatic and sudden loss, and you may regret your words.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

Thanks Tink. I am watching the news and still nothing. I guess it is a fairly small loss compared to others that got 24/7 coverage.. So Sad.

jackass --- 5 years ago -

That can?t be, guns don?t do anything. He could have done the same thing with a fork or a spoon.

fuzz81 --- 5 years ago -

Where are the borders controlled in California with neighboring states that don?t have gun laws?

fuzz81 --- 5 years ago -

Someday, terror may come to YOU in the way of a shocking, traumatic and sudden loss, and you may regret your words.?

And if it ever comes to you (which is statistically nil) will you admit that prayers are empty platitudes?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

You won't ever get it. Just take your own judgments for yourself. Choice, it's for everyone, not just you. The rest of us will bask in our prayers and faith!

fuzz81 --- 5 years ago -

Enjoy! The rest of the world will move on.

rgon124 --- 5 years ago -

That?s 3 now in as many weeks.

Yes, it is very depressing and defeating.

fuzz81 --- 5 years ago -

I am watching the news and still nothing. I guess it is a fairly small loss compared to others that got 24/7 coverage.. So Sad.?

Let me guess: you were watching fox

rgon124 --- 5 years ago -

Oh, I saw it on Fox myself actually. Fox online; rarely turn on the tube.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

I was watching our local news, channel 2.

Poor Fuzzy, lol.

fuzz81 --- 5 years ago -

Am I? Lol

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

I just wanna take you in my arms and give you a noodgie on your head. LOL

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 5 years ago -

Why ban guns? Then they use a knife so we ban knives, then cars, then fertilizer?

Why not just lock up all mentally ill people? Problem solved.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 5 years ago -

Why not just lock up all mentally ill people? Problem solved.

Lets just put them in concentration camps.

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 5 years ago -

Lets just put them in concentration camps.?

Nah, How about mental facilities where they can get help and not be a danger to the public or themselves.

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 5 years ago -

While I don't think we can or should control people having children I think that people who knowingly have children when there is a family history of mental illness should bare some resonsibility when crimes are committed.

Dorothy Parker --- 5 years ago -

I'm so glad he couldn't get into the school. The quick thinking of the staff and the procedures in place saved lives.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 5 years ago -

I think that people who knowingly have children when there is a family history of mental illness should bare some resonsibility when crimes are committed.

You can't be serious. So you would hold the parent of an adult perpetrator responsible for the crimes committed by an adult?

Dorothy Parker --- 5 years ago -

She is serious. I don't know how you would prove such a case or try and ban people from having children based on their medical history.

I believe in the case of the Sandy Hook shootings, had he not killed his mother, she should have been brought up on some sort of charges for allowing easy access of firearms to someone with a known with mental illness. Had she behaved differently, it could have prevented that horrible tragedy. She did pay the ultimate price for her choices and that can't be undone.

Joe Blow --- 5 years ago -

All people with mental illness need to be spayed and neutered. You got to prevent it from the get go.

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 5 years ago -

I don't know how you would prove such a case or try and ban people from having children based on their medical history.

You couldn't ban people from having children but if you knowing birth a time bomb you should bare some liability when it goes off. Makes as much sense as banning guns.

So you would hold the parent of an adult perpetrator responsible for the crimes committed by an adult??

If they have a family history of mental illness and choose to gamble on peoples lives then yes.

People want to ban guns when guns cannot kill people without a mental ill person. Why not get to the source rather than pretending that things are the issue?

We want to ban extremist from entering the country for the same reasons. Guns aren't the problem, mentally ill people are.

DP I totally agree that the mother in the Sandy Hook shooting should have been charged had justice not been served by her mental offspring.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 5 years ago -

If people with mental illness in their families were banned from having children, the human race would die off! lol Seriously, that's absurd- although Hitler did do that- (unfortunately, he got to choose who was mentally ill, so he left off himself and the SS-)

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 5 years ago -

If people with mental illness in their families were banned

Again banning isn't the way to go. How about personal responsibility and making good choices.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 5 years ago -

With personal responsibility, the onus is on the shooter, not the parent. That mother had no way to know how her child would grow up.

Background should check for crazy.

Background should check for crazy.

HIPAA prevents that from happening.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

Some things we will never be able to fix. Ever

fuzz81 --- 5 years ago -

Why have other countries fixed them then?

idontplaynice --- 5 years ago -

Why have other countries fixed them then?

Because they have other cultures, customs, mindsets, attitudes, traditions, and beliefs than Americans.

So many variables to take into account, not just gun laws.

And even some countries have very strict gun laws, yet still have mass shootings.

Look up Anders Behring Breivik, who killed over 69 people in Norway, many of them youths, in 2011.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

Bc these are spiritual problems. Whether it's mental illness, rage, hate or revenge, all spiritual issues that gun control ain't gonna fix.
