Chuck Schumer says the Democrats are willing to shut down funding for children insurance, military employees, and other government employees unless an accommodation is made for illegal immigrants (DACA).

However:

1) The DACA program does not expire until March (It can be put off).

2) Trump and most Republicans have expressed interest in fixing DACA and illegal immigration issues (But realize it cannot be fixed in one day).

CHIPS TO BE SHUT DOWN BY DEMOCRATS

MyOpinion --- 7 years ago -

The Schumer shut down is another effort to blame something bad on Republicans. The Democrats are HORRIBLE.

RayofHope --- 7 years ago -

Joe Blow --- 7 years ago -

What a crock of donkey dung.

Prolix Raconteur --- 7 years ago -

Actually it boils down to this. The democrats will cut off 9 million CHIP recipients at midnight tonight by digging in and being pigheaded on 700,000 DACA recipients whose "protection" doesn't expire until March.

voice of reason --- 7 years ago -

spin spin spin like a broken record.

Looks like Schumer and company care more about illegals than American children and our military in the field.

You know. Republicans could have drafted a bill that would have drawn bi-partisan support right. But they didnt. Republicans gave a huge permanent tax break and deregulated everything they could and now they are for the most part retiring. As if to cut and run. Do you (bob) really believe they care about our troops? The GOP controls both houses and the presidency. You cant pin this on the DNC. At least in a realistic sense.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 7 years ago -

Republicans gave a huge permanent tax break and deregulated everything they could and now they are for the most part retiring. As if to cut and run.?

This has what to do with the CR?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 7 years ago -

You cant pin this on the DNC. At least in a realistic sense.?

Yes, in a very real sense. The Senate needed 9 Dems to vote for the CR but instead the Dems put illegals ahead of American children and the military. That's very real.

urabunchcats --- 7 years ago -

EoK - can you lend Markster a calculator?

OrdinaryGuy --- 7 years ago -

You guys haven't figured out the Markster yet. He spouts the dem's party line whether it makes sense or not.

Republicans gave a huge permanent tax break and deregulated everything they could and now they are for the most part retiring.

Really....you need to read the law again. ONCE AGAIN, you are wrong!

As usual you missed the whole point. The dems are protecting 700,000 illegal aliens instead of voting for the CR. They could have voted for it and the gov't would still be open. The dems are the one using the military as a pawn.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 7 years ago -

markie always misses the point! He really believes he understands the way government works- if he wasn't so pugnacious, I'd feel sorry for him, but the combination of nastiness and lack of information makes him very unlikable-

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

Silly old dragon...You rode the short bus didn't you.

Pugnacious , nastiness?
Ive been called worse. lol...you have no fingers for which to push any buttons. But I have your number

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

They could have voted for it and the gov't would still be open.

Lots of (could of, would of, should of) could have kept the gov open. McConnel is the majority whip, not Schumer.

jackass --- 7 years ago -

Huge stretch...

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 7 years ago -

markie, it's a good thing there's plenty of room inside your head, because you need room to live inside there! Time for you to get back on the crazy train, it's leaving the station! WOOWOO! choochoochoo!

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

Silly old dragons and their hallucinations. One should know when to say when. g-night where ever you are

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 7 years ago -

wow, you're so profound, markie!

Emperor of Kingwood --- 7 years ago -

McConnel is the majority whip, not Schumer.?

No, McConnell is the majority leader. John Cornyn is the majority whip.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 7 years ago -

why bother, Emp? He has no idea what he's talking about, ever- he only reads memes and comic books-

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

Ok bob, that doesnt change the fact the GOP is in charge of the legislative conversation. The fact that they have boxed themselves in a corner thinking they had the upper hand at the risk of shutting down the government will not exempt them from the "blue wave" in November.

So...Why do regular people vote republican?

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

he only reads memes and comic books-

Not true....I only look at the pictures and decide if its interesting.

You know ATD, I cant help but see you stumbling aimlessly on the green belt alone with a mostly MT bottle of cheap wine with a hand held phone. Just you, a bottle and KU...sad and making mean comments in hopes to rile me. Its time for you to call it a night....nighty night

Emperor of Kingwood --- 7 years ago -

Tell us Mark, what happened to your that has caused this.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 7 years ago -

?The fact that they have boxed themselves in a corner thinking they had the upper hand at the risk of shutting down the government will not exempt them from the "blue wave" in November.?

What? How many times do you have to be told that it requires 60 votes in the Senate. The GOP only has 51.

Saturn --- 7 years ago -

Mark, was that comment really necessary?

OrdinaryGuy --- 7 years ago -

Lots of (could of, would of, should of) could have kept the gov open. McConnel is the majority whip, not Schumer.?

Schumer controls 49 Senate votes or did you forget that fact. The dems own this shutdown.

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

How many times do I have to repeat..Not smart on the GOP side. They better get to negotiating. Who would have seen a shutdown coming 365 days ago? Not even me.

OrdinaryGuy --- 7 years ago -

It seems that math is not the Markster's strong suit.

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

Mark, was that comment really necessary?

Are any incendiary comments necessary?
Since they weren't directed at you, feel free to back off. Everyone has the chance to either be nice or not. We all make choices.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 7 years ago -

I believe it was Schumer and Pelosi that didn't show up for the meeting , or did you miss that too.

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

The GOP only has 51.

The GOP should have factored that in their decision process...Or maybe they did.

Just because they almost have the numbers does not make their decision to shut down the gov a good one.

jackass --- 7 years ago -

Keeping you people busy seems to be his strong suit...

Schumer and Pelosi that didn't show up for the meeting

Maybe there was nothing to discuss.
(we aren't in that loop)

RayofHope --- 7 years ago -

I think a lot of moderate Democrats will draw the same conclusion. The Democratic Party has been taken over by the radical left.

Hardly...
