Another one that didn't make it in that location.
Weird ... just weird!

andreweggplant --- 10 years ago -

Maybe it has something to do with the food served?

Leila --- 10 years ago -

I am not a bit surprised.

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

Holy cow!!!!!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

what kind of restaurant was that?

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

Seafood I think... Obviously not a good one.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

obviously! lol!

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Wow. We kinda liked that place. In fact was headed that way the other day but it got too late.

Rubicon --- 10 years ago -

That corner has to hold a record for failed restaurants!

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

That location and the one that had the Hot Spot Diner, are cursed.

AngieKaye --- 10 years ago -

sad. Maybe someone needs to open a Dunkin Donuts there!

Identity Crisis --- 10 years ago -

The food was wonderful, but there was never anyone in there.

Oregonian --- 10 years ago -

Next occupant? A message parlor or, when it becomes legal in Texas, a pot recreational use store.

momma0204 --- 10 years ago -

I never saw any advertising for that restaurant. Ever.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

Whats needed is a high end steak house where the food is superb. We have enough mediocre establishments.

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

I have a message when that parlor opens......

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

Their food was overpriced and certainly mediocre. One of my friends ordered a grilled fish item and it was raw in the middle. That did it for me.

trailwoodmom --- 10 years ago -

They never advertised. Too many businesses come into these shopping centers thinking that's all they have to do and word of mouth from street traffic will bring them business. There was a fashion/retail shop in the same plaza that never once placed an ad in the paper, offered a coupon, sent a direct mail piece. And it was very expensive and targeted skinny women. Clueless on the market, same with Lucille's. You cannot have a retail establishment or restaurant and not do any promotion at all.

Joe Blow --- 10 years ago -

Seafood I think... Obviously not a good one.

You're nasty for a small business owner. Sometimes its the location with restaurants. Would you want someone to slam your business like that?

DVaz --- 10 years ago -

Location has nothing to do with it. Oriental Gardens and Chelsea's have been there since the strip mall opened in the mid/late 80's. I know Oriental Gardens moved there in 1987 from the Chestnut Ridge location.

The difference is that her business is a well managed retail establishment that has a loyal customer base. Clearly, Lucilles was not. Thats no slam, just business fact.

Gigix4 --- 10 years ago -

As does Oriental Gardens and Chelsea's.

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

What was the first restaraunt in that location and how long did it last? Was it Ninfa's? I ask because i did not live here. But i'm sure there is a story somewhere.

It was originally a fried fish place called "Daddy Did It". I was too little to remember how long it stuck around. There was also an Applebees in that spot along with Ninfa's

**correction- Applebees was in the Vision Source building

Kayry --- 10 years ago -

It was an Applebee's at one time? When we first moved here it was Ninfa's and many people liked it...

condundrum --- 10 years ago -

Applebee's was where the free standing vision store is a little further down past Taco Bell.

My friend just corrected me and said that Applebees was where the Vision Source on KW drive is now. I was a baby, haha.

My friend said there was another Mexican restaurant in the Lucille's location before Ninfas went in.

Polly Ester --- 10 years ago -

Does anyone remember the restaurant where back Kingwood Garden center is now?

condundrum --- 10 years ago -

Backstreet Cafe?

Polly Ester --- 10 years ago -

Backstreet Cafe?

yes!

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

"My friend just corrected me and said that Applebees was where the Vision Source on KW drive is now. I was a baby, haha. "

It was a french restaurant after that

DVaz --- 10 years ago -

And Vision Source used to be right next to Red Curry in that same strip mall.....

condundrum --- 10 years ago -

After Applebee's it was The Village Grill.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

I remember being so excited to have a Ninfa's, and then not, lol.

DVaz --- 10 years ago -

Ninfa's was good, but so overrated.

Rubicon --- 10 years ago -

The Kingwood Ninfa's couldn't hold a candle to the one on Navigation. We would drive downtown rather than eat at the one in our area.

Ed Earl --- 10 years ago -

What was the name of the mexican restaurant over by Steinmart?

freebyrdll --- 10 years ago -

Casa Elena!!!

Ed Earl --- 10 years ago -

Yes, that's it. We would go on Friday night and it was always packed. Thanks Freebyrd.

Prolix Raconteur --- 10 years ago -

casa elena and backstreet cafe...man that goes WAY back!
