Walls/barriers/fences are effective all over the world!

Why not on our border?

Best explanation of walls

trump is absolutely correct about walls.
This is a must see for everyone who values the words of such a fearless and determined leader.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

It's no secret that a wall/fence/ barrier is an impediment to access. No wall will stop everybody, but it sure will perform better than no barrier at all.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

No it won’t. They’re just as determined. A wall is a minor annoyance.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Walls keep honest people out

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Israel and Hungary would disagree with that, stating that illegal border crossings diminished by up to 95% when they fenced their entire borders.

Walls keep honest people out

Honest people can immigrate like their supposed to, via protocol that's already in place. Honest people, by definition, don't break laws.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Hungary built a barrier to force people to register, not keep them out.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

So what's the difference? They wanted to stop illegal border crossing and apparently it worked. Despite what the media would have you believe, most people support immigration, as long as it's legal. I don't want to keep people out. I just think people should be allowed access based on merit and an approval process WHILE THEY WAIT IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY.

Defend it Fuzz. I'll wait.

Irrefutable FACT: US Customs & Immigration is responsible for screening people entering the country. TSA has absolutely nothing to do with that. Meme FAIL...LOL..Better luck next time HAHAHAHA...

BuiltinTX70 --- 6 years ago -

I don't question that a wall can be effective. I also don't question we have issues with immigration.

My problem is a wall that long - is both cost prohibitive and not easy to guard once the final piece goes up.

If our border was the size of Israel or Hungary, I think it would carry more weight.

Fortify/repair the barriers you have now, even put up some wall where problem areas are. But spend most of the money on technology and more people.

A wall that long is really antiquated IMO.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Defend it Fuzz. I'll wait.

Lol. I’m not going to even bother with your RWNJ garbage

Well said, Prolix.

That video above simply proves that the left doesn't want "open borders". No President or Congressman wants purely open borders. That's a right wing talking point that fails.

The left does want our borders secure, but simply doesn't want to build a concrete barrier that makes us look like we are living in ancient times.

Enforcing laws, having a system for entry, barriers, and more border patrol is the way to go. That's what that video proved........

But Trump - and his base - simply want the wall as a symbol. Will it be effective? To some degree, but the price of building it fully becomes cost prohibitive given the other solutions that can be applied. And applied effectively.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Well said, Prolix.

Only to the layman.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

What TX70 said is well said. Factual.

Such as?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

I would agree that a wall or barrier of some kind is not going to stop all illegal entry or stay in the US. What needs to happen is:

1. An immediate cessation of illegal immigrants receiving ANY taxpayer spending of any kind.
2. Immediate deportation for any non US citizen without the ability to produce required documentation. Put them on the bus and deliver them to the border.
3. Stop sanctuary cities and states. States and cities can't guarantee that an illegal will stay in the state or city therefore, they are now free to roam the US at will.
4. Very high fines and maybe jail time for anyone caught hiring illegals.
5. Reverse the anchor baby laws.
6. Significantly tighten the H1B and other work visas.
7. Authorize the use of deadly force at the border.

There are other changes that need to be made be I think these are a start

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Lol trump just announced relaxing H1Bs on Twitter this morning

BuiltinTX70 --- 6 years ago -

Emp - you just answered your own question....while I may not agree with all of them in full, that's the type of critical thinking that needs to be applied. Unfortunately this President isn't a critical thinker.

A wall of that extent is simply a waste of cash, ESPECIALLY if the US is going to pay for it.

That's not what we signed up for........

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Unfortunately this President isn't a critical thinker.

How do you know that? Are you present in the meetings? Does he confer with you? Have you read what he proposes in addition to the wall?

BuiltinTX70 --- 6 years ago -

Do you think he's a critical thinker? I am not in the meetings, but I see how he articulates himself in public.

It's also widely know the man doesn't read, have any attention span, and he Tweets like English is a second language, and the content is very suspect.

I don't think Donald Trump is a critical thinker in terms of being leader of the free world.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

I don't have nearly enough credible information about him to be able to determine his level of critical thinking skills. However, my preference for POTUS is strategic thinking.

BuiltinTX70 --- 6 years ago -

Unfortunately, critical thinking leads to strategic thinking.

And that is another pelt in the non-critical thinking arena for Trump.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Unfortunately, critical thinking leads to strategic thinking.

No, I think you have that backwards.

BuiltinTX70 --- 6 years ago -

Critical thinking is your base. That allows you to understand the problem and go forward with a strategy.

You don't devise a effective offensive game (strategy) plan unless you have an understanding of how offense and defense work..........

TinktheSprite --- 6 years ago -

Walls-schmalls. Mexican's dig tunnels with rail cars under them.

I tend to agree if you're thinking in terms of the OGSM strategic planning model. I'm referring to a much higher order strategic thinking model NOT implementation strategy.

BuiltinTX70 --- 6 years ago -

I'm referring to a much higher order strategic thinking model.......yeah, like Trump. You know, he has the gut feeling...........

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Emp is trying to apply middle management buzzwords that he heard at a seminar to the real world

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

You people need to look at the stats of places where walls, fences, etc have been built. Like for example, San Diego. Look at the stats before the barrier and then after the barrier. Watch Acosta's report from Mc Allen. He proves that a barrier works.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

fuzzy, I hate to burst your bubble, but I know for a fact that he's not lying about his upper management position.

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

Critical thinking tells whether your strategic thinking is apt.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Define upper management position

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

How about having hundreds of people under you?

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

That would be lower middle
