Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

They leave their little paw prints all over our heart and it's painful to let them go. 

I can't read the Rainbow Bridge Poem. It makes me cry every time. I miss all my critters who have passed as i they left yesterday.

I am so sorry to hear this. I think about my oldest cat, who is nearing 12 years. I just can't imagine my life without him. The other one either. He's almost 10. Maybe we could all go together? (not really, I want to stick around as long as God is willing)

Ollie was a King among cats, loving and sweet to the bone.

yes, he was- but it was time, he was sick, and going fast- I did it for him, rather than dragging it out for me. 

it's really hard to take the responsibility of making that decision- 

We get so close to our little animals and when we have to make that decision it is so hard. I'm so sorry you had to put Ollie to sleep.

it's something you know it going to happen with every pet- and still, we always get another- I know my remaining cat will miss him, just like the dogs will miss the other- and so it goes. 

Sorry for your loss. I had to put my lab to sleep this year. We talk about her daily - she is still a very fond memory. 

Poor Tat. Please accept my condolences. Still makes me cry to this day remembering holding my furball as the drugs took her away. It was the right thing to do, but how it breaks your heart.
