That's not a stupid question. Why should Americans be concerned about the Obama decision to go along with UN condemnation of Israel? (I.E.,The United States and Israel have been strong allies).

The best way to answer the question is to visit Israel, which I did in the early 70?s after graduating from high school. I spent the summer living in the Arab section of East Jerusalem surrounded by Palestinians.

We got along well, but the Palestinians admitted that their sole reason for life was to destroy Israel. It's in the Palestinian Charter. Until Palestinians change their charter, peace negotiations are pointless.

When I traveled around Israel I carried a backpack displaying the U.S. flag and got lots of smiles. Israeli?s love the United States because they are a Western-style Democracy like the United States. Arab states are not very friendly.

Though Christians and Jews in Israel do not always get along, Israel is the only Middle Eastern country with a growing Christian population. The religions have common origins. Jews wrote the Bible, provided Jesus, and provided the framework for modern Christianity. Evangelical Christians believe the Bible and it?s admonition to support Jews and visit the country in large numbers.

The Holocaust is a powerful motivation for supporting Israel. After six-million Jews were rounded up and exterminated in Europe, many moral people in the United States did not feel it should happen again.

Golda Meir, former Israeli prime minister said it best: ?We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.?

we will only have peace when people stop believing in fictional deities and fighting over who is more wrong

If for no other reason, Israel is the only elected democracy in the middle east.

Mainly to the benefit of Israel. They want our foreign and military aid but really don't care one iota about the US.

Why some US citizens feel it's alright to force our beliefs on others is arrogant and self-serving.

We could have an American Mandate and create the State of Israel in Southwest Texas, as I have mentioned on another thread.

The displaced ranchers probably wouldn't care nearly as much as the Palestinians. They went to war over it immediately after the creation of Israel, following WW2.

Mexico probably wouldn't care either, but the border probably would not be as porous with Israel.

TWO STATE SOLUTION. Anyone even remotely involved in the process knows this is the only way to go. You want to keep perpetuating violence, keep petting the Israelis as if they were the good dogs instead of the pits they reallyi are.

LMFAO

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Palestinians don't want 2 states. They only want ONE state. A Palestinian state. They want Israel obliterated.

They even say that in their charter.

Study up. Learn. It will (possibly) make you seem less ignorant on the internets.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 8 years ago -

that's a glaring fact for anyone who studies the situation in Palestine. Israel gave back Gaza, after they won it in the 6 day war- it didn't bring peace, only made themselves a closer target for rockets.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 8 years ago -

Yes, and they also gave back the Sinai too. The West Bank, which is supposed to be controlled by the Palestinian Authority, is actually controlled by Hezbollah. Hezbollah is funded by Iran.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 8 years ago -

Hezbollah has been recognized by the US as a terrorist group-

witchywoman --- 8 years ago -

Yes the Israelis have been occupying the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem since the Arab-Israeli war and establishing settlements. Therein lies the problem.

The Palestinians deserve their own land just as much as the Israelis do. So the Israelis have to decide if they really want some kind of peace or if they'd rather just whine about it.

witchywoman --- 8 years ago -

Don't confuse Hamas and Hezbollah.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 8 years ago -

You fail to understand or recognize the underlying issue. The Palestinians seek the total destruction of Israel. The rest of the middle east couldn't care less about the Palestinians if it weren't for their mutual hatred of Israel and Jews.

Again (see my post on another thread regarding this), not all Palestinians feel that way by any stretch of the imagination. More do so everyday that we try to destroy their culture and refuse to consider their own state.

Why do you think it's fine to give Israel a state but not Palestine??

Why do you condemn their hatred of Israel and the US but don't condemn your own hatred of them??

Emperor of Kingwood --- 8 years ago -

What a pathetic performance by Kerry. They are really struggling to create some sort of successful legacy for Obama. By all measures, Obama's legacy in foreign policy is a total failure.

Kerry in his pathetic hour long speech was nothing more than an attempt to baffle with BS. He conveniently ignored the fact that the Palestinians have repeatedly violated peace accords and continue to align themselves with Iran backed groups. All the two state solution does is give Iran a permanent base of operations for which to foment further attacks on Israel. Lets not forget that Iran has sworn the destruction of Israel.

If Arab states want the Palestinians to have their own land under sovereign control then why don't they give them the Sinai that was captured by Israel during the 1967 war and later given back to Egypt by Israel as a peace gesture.

Even the Arab states don 't care about the Palestinians. Why don't they step up to the plate?

Why ask Israel to surrender the areas that they captured in war? They were attacked and spent their blood and treasure to defend Israel and won.

Come on. You know the answer to that. LOL

Let Logic Prevail --- 8 years ago -

Why ask Israel to surrender the areas that they captured in war?

Why give Israel a state in the first place when they didn't capture it in war?

Your solution is what?

Why do you think it's fine to give Israel a state but not Palestine??

Why do you condemn their hatred of Israel and the US but don't condemn your own hatred of them??

Good questions for Booby.

*crickets*

LMFAO!!!!!

BuiltinTX70 --- 8 years ago -

the thing is, we do support Israel, to the tune of $3 billion dollars per year. And no one over there was complaining when we will give them almost $40 million in military aid over the next decade.

This vote basically comes down to the tw-state solution which has been the model followed for decades.

IMO, if someone wants to change that in favor of Israel at this late stage of the game, let the president elect do it when he's in charge.

Yep and Obama signed the check so when the Pubies whine about O not supporting Israel I have to LOFL.

You'd have to be ignorant or stupid to not back the two state solution or you could be like Booby in Kingwood and not tell us what his magical solution would be. Israel needs to go bury their arrogance and narcissism out back and give it a try or forever hold their piece/peace.

If I were the president I'd tell Israel every. single. penny. of their aid comes to a halt pronto unless they do two state. Eff them and the horse they rode in on. I haven't seen one viable reason for us to continue to support their one sided BS.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 8 years ago -

Oh but they did. It just depends on how far back in history you want to go.

Miss Understanding --- 8 years ago -

Newer wars and land grabs over rule irregardless of how far back you go. Who cares anyway! This has nothing to do with us.
